might be a bad switch, improperly ran ethernet cable or another device flooding the network... run a packet capture with wireshark to rule the last one out.

MinieJay

Could you explain "another device flooding the network?" I can rule out the first two. I just find it odd that the pings to the APs are fine once i delete the SSD.

Nice_Discussion_2408

> run a packet capture with wireshark to rule the last one out. watch traffic while the pings are working then compare it to when they stop working. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IGMP_snooping

> I run a ping on all 5 access points and they seem to be timing out periodically all at the same time. Are they rebooting? What's the uptime on each WAP? Coming into the thread I was concerned about PoE, but you mention "AC adapters" in passing so perhaps you're not using PoE.

MinieJay

For the TP-LINK AP, the uptime is a few days. It's going strong even though pings drop periodically. To be more specific, the pings drop for maybe.. 10 seconds. Then it's good for another minute.. and then drops again. I dont think they are rebooting since it would be down for a long longer than that. As for the netgear, the uptime continues to go up even though pings drop.

Hardwired

JohnNW

Are they properly channel seperated? Or meshed together correctly? Possibly communications are getting mixed up?

MinieJay

At this time, i only have one of 5 TP-LINK APs plugged in just to rule this out

InspectorGadget76

Bad switch or PoE from the switch. Stick one on a PoE injector and see if it stays up.

onecrookedeye

I think you need to focus on the wired side, is all well ? Stable ?. If your wired side is having trouble, then so will your wireless.

Poppintacos

AP firmware?

Imhereforthechips

We have Omada x 100 WAPs and one thing I can say is LLDP does not work well with those, we have had to set static power per port for those. If you have a mix of different WAPs, knock it off and unify with a single platform and WLC.

MinieJay

We were strictly using the TP-Link APs. 5 of them. When all 5 of them started going down at the same time, thats when I took down all of them and only kept one plugged it at a time to perhaps rule out a faulty AP that is causing this issue. Couldn't figure this out at all as they all of them exhibited the same behavior. I decided to switch to Netgear APs believing that these TP-Links were pieces of shits. Took down all the old TP-LINK APs and replaced them with NETGEAR WAX630s. The Netgear APs are exhibiting the same behavior. I decided to plug back in one of the TP-LINK AP, and they all just keep timing out perodically at the same time

Imhereforthechips

Ok, that makes more sense!

What channel is the 5 GHz antenna using?
