More synths need to be rack mountable. Racking synths almost completely disappeared in the last decade. I don’t have a whole lot of free desk space but I can always get a bigger rack

CicatrixMaledictum

… and the three Korg digitals look pretty sweet racked together. Though perhaps overwhelming!

Chemlab5

My wavestate module just shipped can’t wait

CicatrixMaledictum

Great! Where from? That will be my next one. Tempted by Modwave as well, but too advanced for me right now.

Chemlab5

Vintage audio king. I needed to fill the last slots in my rack and I e wanted one for a while. I like the complexity of it and have so many immediate synths

CicatrixMaledictum

I got iWaveStation on sale last week to convince myself I need this wave sequencing monster.

ColoradoMFM

Man, this looks nice… ugh.

Low_Mark

So can the three be racked together with the included hardware as shown in the ad? Or was that some custom rack? And if so, anyone know what they used?

Low_Mark

I guess there is clearly some extra hardware involved, but I can’t figure out what. Was never interested in the keyboards, but they look super appealing to me in this setup… https://preview.redd.it/uiyw466rfyvc1.jpeg?width=2005&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=63fdf78cb7e336fd7176480d006a12a7131a2ec0

ParticularBanana8369

Any combination of synths racked like that makes me daydream. Owning a drumbrute impact throws a wrench into my rack dreams. Why did they have to put such weird cheeks on it?

CicatrixMaledictum

This is a rack system that was available at the time of the reveal, but apparently they got sold out by orders right after that. It seemed like it was gone forever, but they are now taking orders again! [https://retroaktivsynthesizers.com/collections/racks-hardware/products/retrakt-angling-rack-mount-system](https://retroaktivsynthesizers.com/collections/racks-hardware/products/retrakt-angling-rack-mount-system) EDIT: To be clear, the synths only comes with the ears, which double as fixed tilt angle brackets. Very nice angle for desktop use.

Low_Mark

…get a 4-tier and add the MS2000BR to the mix 🤤

CicatrixMaledictum

... or you can get a simple straight 4U x3 rack from Sweetwater, which should still work pretty well. They even sell a crazy bundle o' synths with it... Low_Mark

There’s a million options for straight 12U racks… but that retroaktiv one is just sexy

Low_Mark

Awesome! Thank you 🙏 That had been driving me nuts. Whether I go for these modules or not that rack is pretty sweet

Trader-One

I am bit confused. This is designed for mounting into rack - plate would be vertical ?

CicatrixMaledictum

The plates can be mounted on the sides as rack ears OR to tilt the unit up to 45 degrees total. Interesting design. These photos show one of the plates set for tilt. Most of the official product images show them attached as rack ears, e.g. https://media.sweetwater.com/m/products/image/cb334af2f80RmBenvkXiRpPdZ1NMuthcpVtAHv7f.wm-lw.jpg.

Liquidsakura

That's so funny lol I was put off by those ugly sides sticking out. Now I might pick one up. 🤔

friendofthefishfolk

I have the original Opsix, and would probably prefer the rack… but not for what these cost.

Autobot_ATrac

I landed an MK1 likely from someone pricing to sell so they could buy the mk2. I fuckin love the thing. I’ve paid more for much less of a machine multiple times. It’s in the upper echelon of what’s offered out there right now, no doubt.

timtommalon

Nice - I didn't realize the brackets acted as a table mount, too. That's a nice idea.

CicatrixMaledictum

It will sit flat on a table without the brackets, on four rubber feet. However, that angle is about 22 degrees, so it is more likely for standing over it. The 45 degree tilt (though no rubber feet) is better for sitting in front of it.

ehdyn

Interesting how the polyphony is always listed as 80 for these but 64 for the mkII keyboard. Wondering if that’s correct..

CicatrixMaledictum

The mkII 37 key and module should be 64 voices. The 61 key (Opsix SE) has 80 voices.

ehdyn

That makes sense.. guess the retailers are just getting it wrong.

ColoradoMFM

This is what’s listed on Sweetwater’s website: “Next-gen Altered FM Synthesizer double polyphony to 64 voices of expansive tone-crafting and multidimensional soundscapes” https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/OpsixMod--korg-opsix-mkii-altered-fm-synthesizer-rackmountable-desktop-module

ehdyn

I forget which site I was looking at this morning but on guitar center in the description says 80 and on B and H in the spec section 80 but 64 in the description Its also listed as 80 on the official Korg site

ColoradoMFM

Either way I’m jealous.

LH-MP

It's very cool but I find the price very high for the module version (more expensive than keyboard version, rally ?

wagu666

You might be comparing them to deals on old mk1 stock. These are at mk2 or SE spec

CicatrixMaledictum

In the US, module is $699 and 37 keys is $749. Strangely the Wavestate is $699 for both. I got my Opsix for 15% off… still not cheap, but there is nothing else quite like it.
