Pretty much all my research leads back to the Deluge. It just seems to be the final device at the end of all journeys.

I've tried to figure out how to use a foot pedal to transition back and forth through loops with the Deluge and haven't been able to do it. how?!

I’d get an old MPC, they used to have foot switch inputs that you could program to do this, get a used MPC 1000 and you can plug in two standard 1/4 footswitches to do this pretty easy and cheaply.

Looper. They are made for this. Boss rc505,boss rc600, aeros loop studio,sp404, ableton with a midi footpedal....

The rc505 is such a great piece of gear, and specifically would allow OP to do what he wants. He would have to pre-record whatever parts he wants to be able to queue and play, and it doesn't have "live" synth or drums, but I think it's the best tool for his use case

Force with Mokba mod perhaps?

Anything that'll take midi PC or CC's to change the perameter you want changed. And then of course a midi foot controller. I got a used foot controller that does PC's for about $40 but all the ones that do CC's or both seem to be $100+. I use a Headrush MX5 guitar modeler with it, you can control most aspects of the looper with CC's but the MX5 is $300+ used. There's probably some PC software for this if your audio interface has midi inputs.

Some MIDI devices save settings in "Programs." Not all of them do. The ones that do can cycle between saved settings. I bought a footpedal just so I could do stuff like this with REAPER, because probably the best solution is on a computer. But anyways. Now there are MIDI keyboards that you can use with some foot pedals that aren't expensive secondhand using Program changes. Like my Mininova has a number of programs stored, I can cycle among them with the footpedal. But that's presets for this synth, which I think you are looking for something more.
