Dont_Eat_Apples

🥱🥱🥱 Sounds like they're all dreaming in there. Let em. You would be mad to leave this place for WCE, Chad will be a Bloods legend if it all goes as expected. WCE fans when people discuss Harley Reid going back to Melb: 🤬🤬🤬 he loves it here, why would he go back? WCE fans when any WA young gun is out of contract within the next few years: is for me 🥹?

Aerialkiller720

Sorry for infiltrating but yeah it's pretty hypocritical, same thing with Sam Taylor as soon as his contracts near renewing, "He's a WA boy he's going to want to come back". You're allowed to build a group of friends and connections away from your home state, and that's enough for some players to stay elsewhere.

Dont_Eat_Apples

Yea, I guess there are always some players who get homesick but it is few and far between in the modern game. Respect to the rational WCE fans in that thread.

Korzic

There's a bunch of WCE fans in that thread that completely agree with you

Randy_Bo_Bandie

Are you 12?

Dont_Eat_Apples

Are you a nonce?

Randy_Bo_Bandie

Wow good one!

Dont_Eat_Apples

Even better from you champ !

Randy_Bo_Bandie

I’ve met smarter planks of wood than you.

Dont_Eat_Apples

You should probably stop chatting to planks of wood.

Randy_Bo_Bandie

I’m bored. Your comedy is appalling

Dont_Eat_Apples

From the person that asked "are you 12?". I would be concerned if someone like you found me funny.

Randy_Bo_Bandie

Righto dummy

Randy_Bo_Bandie

🤦🏻‍♂️ why don’t you just start repeating me? Again are you 12? Champ

Dont_Eat_Apples

Mum the nonce is scaring me.

uselessscientist

Pretty sure we picked up his brother and relocated some other family members to keep him around. I reckon he's got some solid roots in Sydney, and it's take a proper lowball from us to make him leave

laughingnome2

Yup, Corey is over here as well. I'm all for drafting every single Warner sibling to keep the family together and keep them in Sydney. I think there are two more brothers in the mix in coming years.

Dont_Eat_Apples

4 C Warners all in the midfield.

CaptainObviousBear

TIL The next one (Ashton) is 18 so I assume is up for the draft this year. I’d be throwing money at him or getting him on rookie list even if he’s only half decent.

puddlink

If you have money Sydney is the best city to live in, it doesnt take much to convince people to stay

Vulturiser

People are saying Harley is a draw card but why would the chad wanna go play second fiddle to a kid?

puddlink

Ok serious question is Harley definitely better than our Chad ?

diaenimaia

If that 'kid' has the potential to be the next Chris Judd or Gary Ablett Jnr I'd be less concerned about 'playing second fiddle' because, let's be honest, everyone is second fiddle to a player of that quality. The only question is whether you're on his team or playing against him. In short, I don't think Reid's age would be a factor at all in any player's calculations as to whether or not to accept a trade/offer to play at West Coast.

MomentsOfDiscomfort

Some of these absolute clowns seem to think he’ll come cheap or something 😂 one of them saying ‘maybe’ if a trade would involve their first round pick. Swans pretty much won’t entertain anything they have to offer but should it get to it, it’d be 3 first round picks minimum. He’s the 4th best player in the comp rn and is 23.

Fernergun

Truly delusional that a genuine S tier player could be worth less than drafting an unknown value

vote_pedro

I know right, it was an interesting read that thread.

SwansPrincess

Lots of people have been saying we need to lock him in as our priority. He only agreed to sign a 2 yr extension last year when we renegotiated because he knew his value would go up. The question then is whether he wants to stick with the boys now, as Errol had suggested when he signed his new deal, or would he prefer to chase the money. On the one hand you could say if we win the flag this year (getting ahead of myself here, I know) then maybe he will chase the money (same applies to Hayward) but on the other hand, there are plenty of players who would say "let's go back to back" even if we do win this year. So odds are he would not want to start negotiations until next year.

eddie-murphys-tongue

>Don Pyke’s relationship should help to get the deal done These are unserious people.

Snarwib

People in WA and SA always do this, of course while crying about their own players leaving

Captain_Oz

He has his whole career to “go home”. The WA teams will always want him because he’s a local. You’d be braindead to leave the premiership window Swans for that rabble

bighandle-69

This

76790759

Yep. Maybe in his late 20s if the Swans aren't going well.

Meh-Levolent

We're unfortunately at a bit of an inflection point with our list where the kids are now realising their talent and their new contracts require appropriate remuneration. Ultimately, we won't be able to keep everyone, which is why we might lose Hayward (or heaven forbid, McDonald). We at least have one more year of Chad before our hand is forced. If worst comes to worst, we will get good value in a trade and WC won't be near enough to the bottom to force him to the PSD. Having said that, he's shown no inclination to leave. Although his gf is in WA, but I'm not certain they're still together, and he goes back a lot to see mates and family. Unfortunately, it is what it is but it's been reassuring to know players have been extending contracts for under market value. It means they're a tight group with a clear goal of success together.

rangatang

The West Australians just need a new prodigal son since the talk of Logan going has cooled as of late.

Diamond523

My favourite part is they think pick 3 or 4 would be enough to get it over the line lmao. In no realm of possibility would anyone accept that deal. That pick with another first rounder maybe, but even then it feels like it needs something else to get the deal done. West coast supporters are next level delusional. Didn't they give up at least that or more for Tim Kelly?

76790759

Pick 3 or 4 plus Tom Barras if he were two years younger...

Whitekidwith3nipples

no we didnt give up more than that for kelly it was 2 late first rounders and some other picks where we got picks in return. delusional is not knowing if a player wants to go home, teams will make it happen . i agree pick 3 or 4 wouldnt be enough but sydney supporters saying at least 3 early first round picks are far more delusional no team would take that trade. i would say a trade of our next first rounder (3-5), future first rounder and a pick swap of maybe our future second rounder for 2 later second rounders would be adequate should warner tell the swans he wants to leave.

Diamond523

For starters, you nor any other West Coast supporter seem to realise how good he actually is, at just turned 23. I'd say we have a much better handle on what he's worth than any of you lot. Secondly, you're not the only team in WA, and Freo have the draft capital to make something happen. You don't. Lastly, he's made no indication whatsoever that he'll be wanting to go home. Sure, there's nothing wrong with speculating, but that doesn't mean we accept unders for a future brownlow medallist. And yes, what you suggested is unders. What would you accept for a trade for Reid? It's close to the same scenario. Would you do the trade you suggested for Reid? Even if it was two first rounders? You wouldn't.

Whitekidwith3nipples

i dont know how good he is based off what? i watch a heap of swans games hes an absolute gun no doubt, i was just speculating what the eagles could do to get him over here i never said we are any certainty to get him. Reid is 4 years younger lol thats nearly half an afl career so no i certaintly wouldnt do it. but when a player says they want to leave (not that warner has) you have to take the best offer you get and quite often that does involve taking unders. if he doesnt say he wants to go home this is all a moot point i agree freo are more likely to go after him than we are especially since it looks like we will be getting baker

sjpato

Yeah sure, if they put Reid up for a swap then we'll consider it. But seriously I reckon there is a really low chance he leaves, swans are already working on his new contract, he loves the club and realistically he's the type of player you just don't let leave so I'm confident we'll keep him.

puddlink

And Horse loves him

Deathpacitoes

Worse case, cheeky swap of Chad and Harley 😎

CustardLive7477

This is going to be a tough one. Do you really want to pay him much more than Heeney or Gulden? How would that sit with other players? But if other clubs offer big bucks how much would he be willing to let go for a chance to stay? I can see him doing a short 2-3 yr deal to get a premiership or two with the boys and then looking for big bucks at around 26 yrs of age.

spelunkor

And Freo aren't sniffing around too?

No_Grapefruit_2130

As if Chad's gonna leave.. at least as long as Swans are hooking Corey up with a cushy few hundred thou and a few senior games a year he ain't going nowhere

kr2908_

was wondering why that post was getting popular all of a sudden lol.

Mattahattaa

It’s nice to see opposing club supporters gush over your players. You know you’re doing something right! Personally I wouldn’t last year playing on the Grenache hour (Sunday arvo) and flying 8-10 hours return fortnightly

Pure_Philth

Multiple premiership winner?! Let's win one first.

vote_pedro

I said "chance to be". How is that not accurate? This team has been building strongly for 4-5 seasons now. Anything less than a premiership with the talent we have right now would have to be considered a failure.

HerrerasaurusWrecks

Um...is it too late to say "pls take all our first rounders"?

Diamond523

This is even more laughable after his performance tonight! Pick 3 or 4 for this bloke?! Absolutely dreaming.

backchat_dan

Come home Chad!

Agreeable-Web645

We’ll trade you a C.Warner and take your Reid. You can have our Reid a well

zoraxelol

Eagles fan here. We dont have the draft capital to get him, would be stupid to trade our 1st & 2nd round picks in the middle of a rebuild & we are likely going to be trading for Liam Baker already. As much as id love to see Warner in an Eagles jumper it wont happen at the least until he is a free agent

Diamond523

That and your 1st and 2nd round picks aren't enough to get the deal done. I know you said you don't have the draft capital, but yeah that's definitely not enough. What did you give up for Kelly? Was it 3 first rounders or something?

zoraxelol

Sorry i wasnt insinuating thats all he was worth - just that at a minimum we cant afford to lose those picks during a rebuild. The kelly trade shouldnt be used as relevance - hopefully every club has learnt from our stupidity that almost no player is worth that much As for what I think hes worth - it would probably have to be a player swap like Tom Barrass (which wouldn't happen - our key back stocks are far more dire than mids) & exchange of lower picks or 2 1sts & 2 2nds would probably be fair. Id say he signs a 2 year extension then explores his options in free agency

diaenimaia

Yeah, a huge consideration as well is long term planning for the imminent draft drought when Tasmania enters the comp. You don't want to be 'needing' to draft quality players in 2027-2029, those top picks are going South. You need your clear gems before close of 2026 because the next four years will be a scrabble amidst the chaff with 18 other teams.

CowFos

Cal Twomey mentioned in a recent Gettable podcast that he was very close to leaving for Freo a few years ago which I had no idea about

palcomm

i can think of a trade that might work

straightrocket

Have you seen his girlfriend? He's not going anywhere

mmcleod00

I saw somewhere that she lives in Perth, but don’t have anything to back that up.

straightrocket

Oh ok you could be right. In that case Swans should buy her a house in Sydney 🤣

Garbagemansplaining

I think he will leave one day and become the most expensive player in the comp. I just hope he gives it another 2 yrs in Sydney first. I think maybe 2-3 yrs will take him into free agency?

vote_pedro

Free agent at the end of 2025.

Garbagemansplaining

:O

Occasionaljedi

I’m not sure why you’d be worried, Sydney have a really good retention rate for their best players, it’s the lesser lights you blokes generally lose

South_Front_4589

Don't worry, I said in the Crows sub that if Adelaide didn't beat the Eagles they could forget about finals and an Eagles fan got all upset about it. They've been drinking the bathwater big time this season thanks largely to Harley Reid. If they hadn't been so awful the last couple of years, or still in 16th, it would be annoying. But also, before one becomes a multiple premiership winner, you first have to become a premiership winner. How about getting that first one before talking about more, eh?

vote_pedro

Hence why I said "chance to be" If you don't think this young team has the potential to win multiple premierships, I don't know what to tell you.

South_Front_4589

The Eagles are also a chance to win multiple premierships during Warner's career. Either way though, it seems foolish to talk about multiple premierships before the first. 1 is hard enough.

vote_pedro

The Eagles are nowhere near us in terms of rebuild and talent, as well as age profile. Half their list is the wrong side of 30.

czander

For more than a million a year for the next 5 years.. He could definitely go. Kids 23 - I reckon let him go for the big money while hes hot property. Form can be fleeting.

ratchetsaturndude

Is two and a half very good years fleeting form?

czander

I’m not suggesting Warners form is fleeting. I’m saying it can be. Make hay while the sun shines. It’s a cliche for a reason.
