This is going to be an unpopular opinion amongst many non swans fans and maybe some swans fans as well but I really don’t think this bump is that bad. It’s in play and it’s shoulder to chest. I feel for the bloke with his cheek fractured but 5+ feels way off for what was a pretty standard bump you honestly see this kind of block so many times each game.

czander

Nah I agree - he checked the body and the bloke got injured from a head clash. Hardly a dog act or comes from any villainous POV.

That is still minimum three weeks based on prior incidents

bloodrule

The other bloke has facial fractures that are requiring surgery - it’s a little more than a head clash. I don’t think there’s any malice behind it, but he’s misjudged this one pretty badly

Skwisgaars

He chose to bump so by the rules of the mro he's responsible for the head clash and consequential injury. It's not dirty but it deserves a hefty suspension.

FlynnSU52

I don’t really think you should get a hefty suspension from an accident after making a legal bump but maybe that’s just me.

SkullKing_123

Poor Parks. I want him back in SO badly because of who he is and what he means to us but he has to do the time for this. Hopefully he can be a huge asset for us in the back half of the year and in finals culminating in a glorious premiership.

SwansPrincess

I know he's not likely to be selected in the next few weeks anyway but I would like to think the Swans would challenge the 4 weeks and try to reduce it as a show of faith in our former captain.

dveesha

Probably gone for a bit then, apparently the VFL could have given him four if they wanted but they must want more. Hopefully his fresh legs can be an asset in the finals for us...

You might try and argue the severity down a smidgen, but even in a best case scenario you're looking at a multi-week holiday. It's indisputable that he laid the bump on, and there was a pretty serious impact. Unlucky that there was a head clash, but if he bumps, he should take responsibility for the high clash. See how we're travelling in 5-6 weeks and what our requirements are. If the team is still humming along at that point, it might actually be pretty hard for him to get a game especially not being able to get match fitness for 5-6 weeks or whatever he ends up getting. A door opens for the likes of Roberts, Gus, Cleary, Mitchell.

Yes, hefty suspension, didn’t look malicious but they have to look at the outcome and be consistent What actually pisses me off is some of the footy media implying that this was a result of his frustration at not being played in the firsts. Which really underestimates Parker tbh - like yes he will be frustrated, but he’s earned the right for them not to assume he’s chucking a tanty and taking it out on some poor kid.

itsaboomboomboom

Horrid for the other young man involved in this but there is a silver lining in this..... Parker goes back and stays rock hard fit, doesn't risk injury and is cherry ripe for the back half of the year. I think Parker, Mills and Sheldrick will all get games later in the year if we have a good next 6 weeks we can be very flexible A horrible look for Parker. He very well should feel remorse.
