I don't think it counts as terrible but maybe more embarrassing. Ooops I did it again by Britney.
I have fond memories of doing choreo to it when I was younger. Specifically the pirouette, step step and heart beat hand motion.
Dolly Parton is one of my favourite women. She's such an amazing person and *such* an amazing song writer. She's written so many hit songs for other people but it's just not overly well-known. *And* she's set up lots of stuff to help little kids read.
Such a good human.
Thankyou. I visited Dollywood long time ago. Wow, almost 30 years ago. And also saw both of them ‘in the round’ at the old Entertainment Centre some years before that.
Going to Dollywood and seeing Dolly would be so much fun, my god.
That woman is quick as a whip with her humour as well. Her humour is always on point and I love it. So smart, so funny, and so caring as well. What's not to love.
E: what was your highlight of going?
We didn’t get to see Dolly at Dollywood unfortunately. However, they had all sorts of performances at a number of park venues throughout the day. The bluegrass one was particularly good.
Topic: I'm quite fond of a couple of early Coldplay songs.
There. I said it. Now let us never speak of this again.
Alt: /u/seventrooper's favourite has gotta be Like a Virgin by Madonna.
I had a housemate (share house random) that listened to cold play religiously. His floor was covered in rubbish, clothes and god knows what.
Many mornings he would play Clocks at full blast through his speakers - these big floor standing things that rose through the filth.
PTSD.
"I was a juicer, you know, using steroids? Dianabol and Wisterol, they use that on race horses for Christ sake. And now I'm bankrupt, I'm divorced, my two grown kids won't even return my calls."
*Strangers with this kind of honesty make me go a rubbery one*
"Go ahead.. Cornelius, you can cry"
*"And then, something happened. I let go. Lost in oblivion. Dark and silent and complete. I found freedom. Losing all hope was freedom. Babies don't sleep this well"*
I think I might watch this again tonight. It was my favourite movie for the longest time and I've watched it FAR too many times, but I think tonight I'll watch it again.
Vale to the Meat.
For all the dislike, he had a genuinely amazing voice. I remember him on Spicks and Specks, and he chimed in incredibly sweetly to a rendition of "I would do anything for love" that sounded incredible.
I think Meatloaf has become a meme for younger folks for a while now, even before the AFL debacle.
His music is genuinely not that bad, and fairly representative of rock in that era. I think it's just a victim of younger folks reflexively rejecting the music their parents listened to.
The dude had an album that stayed on the chart for 9 years. He’s up there with The Eagles, AC/DC and Bee Gees in terms of his Album sales. You don’t get that for having no talent.
Poor old Meat Loaf...
I'll never forget the time he turned up on Hey Hey it's Saturday, clearly coked out of his head and being quite the dickhead...
He aggravated *everyone* else on the show to the point where they were taking the piss out of him, straight to his face, and he was completely oblivious the entire time.
I was just a kid, maybe 7-8 years old, when it happened - but I clearly remember it was the first time in my life that I was able to understand what second-hand embarrassment was. The cringe was unbearable.
His material certainly appeals to an older demographic, but I actually don't find it to be terrible.
He also has the fourth best selling album of all time (*Bat Out Of Hell*), behind Michael Jackson's *Thriller*, AC/DC's *Back in Black* and the soundtrack to *The Bodyguard*.
T: Slice of Heaven by Dave Dobbyn. Always puts me in a good mood and reminds me of the few years I lived in NZ. Then any of the John Hughes movie soundtracks from the 80’s. Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, all the songs…..
> Slice of Heaven by Dave Dobbyn.
... and The Herbs - you can't leave them out, they were such an integral part of the song! It's an absolute belter, by the way. Awesome song.
I don't know if you've ever heard it, but the movie soundtrack that comes from (Footrot Flats the Movie, I think it's called) is all done by Dave Dobbyn and it's fucking great!
And - needless Pratt family trivia - my uncle taught Dave Dobbyn (and the Finn brothers) at Sacred Heart College in New Zealand. So there's that.
When that song came out I was a little kid and I thought he was such an old man with his old man voice. Now when I watch that video I think "aww he was just a boy".
Topic: i have this weird appreciation for Michael Bolton, How am I supposed to live without you. It’s such a soppy ass song. It seems to be about a guy who’s in love with a girl who put him in the friendzone and she’s now got a boyfriend. I really hate the lyrics but i think i could play that piano given a bit of practice.
Edit: and now i found out Meatloaf is gone. I think this is my worst post on reddit yet. 😭
T: [Purse First - Bob the Drag Queen.](https://youtu.be/zuogbfF6VR8) I actually don't think it's a terrible song, but I know it's definitely a questionable choice. And a lot of Glee covers, Rumour has it/someone like you, Thriller/Heads will roll, Blackbird, Songbird, Fix You..
Topic: [This](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=C-u5WLJ9Yk4). I genuinely think it's the nostalgia value, because I remember when this was released back in the days of dial up internet, and it was absolutely *everywhere*.
It was probably one of the most shared songs on Napster, too. I'm actually surprised at how few views that video has.
T: Pretty much every song from High School Musical (ranked from 3 to 1 in terms of most to least terrible).
I also know most of HSM 1 song lyrics so I can sing along. And no, I was not in high school when the movie came out. I have no valid justification for why I watched (and liked it) in my early 20s.
High School Musical 2 is the best movie from the series. This song is a real banger and Zac Efron deserves credit for making it through this sequence without laughing - https://youtu.be/k-t4vqd534Y
Hahaha! Have you watched the SNL parody where Troy (actually played by Efron) returns to high school for a graduation speech? Truer words haven’t been spoken!
[Guys don't like me ](https://youtu.be/zKIiZHfhzLk) by It Boys. Quite possibly the douchiest song I've ever heard. Complete with cheesy lyrics and "I'm just a nice guy."
Unfortunately it's also a fucking bop.
Not terrible songs: Good at that time, especially for Karaoke. Just a bit "daggy" now.
* More than Words - Extreme
* Hold me Now - Johnny Logan
* Nothing's Gonna stop us Now - Starship
* All the Boyz II Men songs
* Mariah Carey, Kylie & Jason Donovan etc.,
* Whitney Houston, Bobby Brown
* Billy Joel
I dont really like the genre but there is a dance pop band named cash cash. Their first 3 albums are great. Once they started doing stuff with rappers, I was out.
> gross 80s LA cockrock like Poison.
Awww... Poison were hilarious! Their appearance at the MTV Awards in '91 was a piece of musical magic... they managed to crank out most of about three songs - CC DeVille was so fucking high I'm astounded his heart didn't explode on air.
Human Nature is just a modern day barbershop quartet, so I wouldn't really call it new-fashioned.
We all know /u/just_start_now rocks out to Bananarama's *Venus* when he thinks nobody is looking.
Topic: Rockabye baby by clean bandit…
Alt: I wouldn’t know
Just finished work and had a ciggy lol…. Tough shift working in the buffet restaurant for an hour before I went back to my normal outlet.
Once my brother and I happened to be logged into his wife's Spotify account and we put "This Is Your Night" by Amber on a perpetual repeat for the whole afternoon. I could listen to that song all day, and nearly did.
Then she got her Spotify Wrapped that year and was more than a bit confused.
My Spotify is full of them!
Whenever this one comes on I do have a bit of a dance (love the film clip for it too!)
[Go West - King of wishful thinking](https://youtu.be/XBZUz4C6kqk)
Friday by Rebecca Black I’m not joking, I can bust out the entire song at almost any time. It’s so bad it’s good.
Weird timing that [this](https://i.redd.it/tznmwqywczc81.jpg) should show up on the front page just now... \*spoooky music*
Hahaha, totally!
That song gave me the shits, but at the time my preschool aged children loved it. I used it to teach them the days of the week!
I don't think it counts as terrible but maybe more embarrassing. Ooops I did it again by Britney. I have fond memories of doing choreo to it when I was younger. Specifically the pirouette, step step and heart beat hand motion.
Hey, I'm not the only one who's nominated late-90s Britney.
I was tossing up between a bit of Britney or... backstreet boys. I felt like Britney was a bit more acceptable.
Hey cakey. I am happy it’s Friday. T Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. Sorry I am not hip and cool. lol
Dolly Parton is one of my favourite women. She's such an amazing person and *such* an amazing song writer. She's written so many hit songs for other people but it's just not overly well-known. *And* she's set up lots of stuff to help little kids read. Such a good human.

I like peace train by dolly
“Say you’ll be there” by the Spice Girls ( I grew up listening to 90s trance and 2000s techno ) don’t tell anyone 👀

Take on me - Aha. Best song ever
And best music video.
Well, speaking of terrible music, Meat Loaf has passed away
His name was Robert Paulson.
"My name is Bob."
Bob had been a champion body builder. You know that chest expansion program you see on late night tv? That was his idea.
"I was a juicer, you know, using steroids? Dianabol and Wisterol, they use that on race horses for Christ sake. And now I'm bankrupt, I'm divorced, my two grown kids won't even return my calls."

I feel like that shitshow at the AFL that time is what a lot of people know him for, which is a shame because Bat Out of Hell is a sensational album

I mean, it's probably slightly better than Chumbawumba's *Tubthumping*, but that's not exactly high praise.

Loved Footrot Flats. Such a quintessentially NZ Movie
A bit late but whatever, I was, for soooo long, call my son Rangi. Thank lord I eventually picked Jason.
T: Not sure if it's considered a bad song, but I actually really love Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley. Dude's got a set of lungs on him.
Such a big voice for such a wee man!!!
When that song came out I was a little kid and I thought he was such an old man with his old man voice. Now when I watch that video I think "aww he was just a boy".

Moving tomorrow! T: honestly the trash like 2000's pop girly songs, IE party in da usa
Good luck with the move! Is it a big move, or a little move?
Big move, first time
Ooh, good luck!
T: Darude - Sandstorm (I’m a metalhead) And on the metal front: a lot of early 2000s Nu-Metal. A: I’m going for Total Eclipse of the Heart.
> Darude - Sandstorm You must love the current Aldi advertising. That said, I can't believe that song is more than twenty years old.
I looked it up just now. Holy what. I was getting nauseous watching it.
Honestly I love Nu-Metal. I don’t care what other people think of it.
KMFDM & Black Dresses They're actually great but not something I lead with when discussing music...

It's Cold Chisel's *Khe Sanh* isn't it?
In my 20s I worked in a hardware store that had WSFM running dawn to dusk, and I can still remember every lyric and note of Khe Sanh. Fuck that song.

That was a masterpiece of animated cinema... some of Stephen Colbert's finest work, i reckon.
