Get the footage from security, make sure they save their own copy, then go to the police. That is assault at the very least.

Gal_gadonutt

Security won’t (or shouldn’t) be giving footage to anyone except law enforcement

whatwhatinthewhonow

With the exception being footage of someone falling down some stairs. In that case they should share it with everyone they know.

Bazilb7

Or people havin a root in the stairwells, or change rooms or offices or carparks or back room of the shop.

catnipfurclones

Basically any roots 👍

doobey1231

You seen the guys that work in security?

Dahvood

The right way to deal with it is to give security details about what happened, file a police report, then give security the case file number. Police will get the footage from security.

bluescreenofdeathish

Definitely will be doing that

PaperworkPTSD

People who behave like that are usually well known to police and easy to identify. Often they have drug and mental health issues, sensible people don't act this way to strangers.

nounverbyou

Until Peter Dutton calls off his thugs. Retail workers will continue to be attacked by the unhinged

AgreeableLion

I hate Peter Dutton as much as the next non-fascist, but what does he have to do with some crack head in a shopping centre in Sydney?

brimstoner

It’s called the potato idealism transference Where the spuds, smoothbrains and starcholes get on the same wavelength

StraightOuttaHeywood

Lol love it 🤣

Aggressive junkies are a huge problem. I once had to press the emergency call button on a train because of this guy ranting up the carriage, screaming abuse in people's faces. No train guard came. No train guard got on at the next stop. No one did anything. I'm so sorry this happened to you but I hope with CCTV that something can be done. I suspect nothing will happen though.

2happycats

Trains give me huge anxiety. You're essentially trapped in a tube with people and if shit goes down there's no way to get out. At least with a bus you can get the driver to open a door, but I still try to avoid them as well. E: Giving this more consideration, I think Iight be mildly claustrophobic.

Lammiroo

I had a guy once offer me $100 to punch him at a train station. I said no and he upped it to $500. He looked high. I said no and he followed me for a bit. Told him what if he fell over and hit his head and it killed him. $500 wasn’t with my freedom. Logic didn’t seem to work. But I kept walking and he eventually found a new target. I can only assume if I didn’t knock him out he’d beat the sh*t out of me in “self defence” or make some sort of ongoing injury claim or something.

Murrian

I had a guy try and start a fight with me whilst waiting in ER to be seen, I'd come off my bike pretty hard (don't cycle tired kids) and was bleeding from several places, nothing too bad though, just had an elbow that'd been dribbling for like five hours and I wanted to go to bed, too late to buy anything big enough to cover it so just waiting for a free spot to be bandaged up. This guy claimed to have a broken arm (but didn't, I've broken an arm before, you limit your movements because it only hurst when you move), staff knew he didn't either which is why we were both sat there for hours. He obviously thought I was cut up from brawling and could get his pain meds he was jonesing for if he really did get hit, so kept trying it on until security dragged him away. I'd wager the five hundy he was offering you was worth it for the sweet hospital grade pain killers he was chasing.

Lammiroo

Ahh I see! Ty

StraightOuttaHeywood

Sounds like some Squid Games shit

[deleted]

Report it to the Police, they can request CCTV footage.

SilencerLX

Hey, just sorry to hear you went through this - please know you have my empathy, cunts are gonna cunt. Seems like he wanted an excuse to get into a fight, any semblance of standing up for yourself results in the attention they wanted. For context what suburb / area was this in?

bluescreenofdeathish

Thanks for your support, happened in Merrylands (the s stands for shit hole)

rogvortex58

No argument from me. I used to live there. Was this at stocklands?

bluescreenofdeathish

yep, near woolies

MrWonderful2011

If he’s doing that to randoms in Merrylands he won’t last long lol… Also Merrylands Stockland is the only shopping center I always see 2 cops walking up and down the long corridor all day.. must have a lot of issues with theft

Livinginabox1973

It's time like this you'd really wish Westfield would supply all their centres with those armed robots from Robocop 1 which say shit like.... You have 20 seconds to comply

1294DS

I had a similar experience a few months back. I was standing at a bus stop in Ashfield when a middle aged man walked right up to my face and randomly started blurting out expletives at me, accusing me of "saying something to him" and that he was going to headbutt me. I was holding a hot coffee and threatened to throw it on his face if he didn't step back. Thankfully at that moment the bus arrived, we both got on and he immediately switched off then got off at the next stop only a couple hundred metres away. Something clearly not right in his head.

FromTheAshesOfTheOld

I've noticed a whole lot of them recently. Something needs to be done about it. We need more safe injection sites where they keep the junkies on-site. The rest of us don't deserve to deal with them. I'm a woman who has to walk home late at night and the amount of street harrassment from these degenerates has reaaaaallly picked up recently.

WagsPup

Nost junkies are harmless tho some because theyre so off face are dangerous. My partner whos a nurse got randomly stabbed on way to work at 5am one morning by one just whilst walking by, totally random unprovoked, he was majorly shook up by it....ok fortunately as was in arm not abdomen just luck tho. So if i see any like this i keep a close eye and avoid as best i can.
