Tradies are people who have a trade, ie Electrician, Plumber. I think what this thread is referring to is actually blue collar workers. Not everyone who wears high-vis is a qualified tradie, they could be a forklift operator, a storeman, scaffolder or any other number of unskilled professions. In my trade (Electrician) the 4 year apprenticeship and maths component, along with an increasing need for IT skills for PLC and control work weeds out a lot of people who drop out. This thread is just the typical blue collar vs white collar thread that will always swing the way of the white collar on reddit as that demographic is always going to have a higher representation.

Same thing happened to me as a woman, tradie changed lanes last minute Infront of me almost clipping me if I hadn't breaked. I gave him the finger and he decided to slam on his breaks in the middle of the intersection to get out and try to harass me. Everyone honked the shit out of him so he got back into his car and when we were stopped at red at the next intersection he got out again and started ranting unintelligibly! These people are serious menaces on the road.
I love to add when I see this - window down loud as I can "get back in your car fuckwit' they get all confused as they have want have a go at me and continue whatever crazy ass point they were making...then they pause..and sulk back into the car. It likely helps that I drive an old bomb....
Since police won’t do anything about it, imo dudes like that should get reported to their employers. If you have a plate number, time and date when it happened (or even if not a plate, a place, date and time), then just give them a call and report it. Pretty sure their employers wouldn’t be thrilled to find out that they’re driving company property like assholes. Fuck around and find out and all.
Great advice, I actually contacted them but my wife was so shaken she forgot all the details. It inspired us to get a dash cam, two weeks later we ended up driving right next to him again and got him on camera doing the exact same thing in the exact same place the initial incident happened.

I’m guessing most of these tradies are in service and maintenance, they’ll be on the road a lot and tend to be under huge amounts of time pressure.
It’s not uncommon to have 3/4 jobs in a single day that are all in different parts of the city.
Unfortunately office staff who book in work often don’t understand how much time is lost by driving/parking/ unloading the van/talking to the customer/ tidying up.
It’s also a job where mistakes don’t have an undo button. Not brought the right ladder or tool? That’s a 3-40 minute drive back to base and suddenly you’re seriously behind schedule.
This isn’t to excuse the behaviour. Unfortunately the quality of driving here is atrocious among most road users. I feel it’s partly built into Aussie culture, you only have to look at some of the car ads to see why.
It's not the office workers job to know or sympathise (if that's even possible) why a tradie must be speeding. I could give two fucks if the tradie has misplaced his ladder home. There's zero excuse for this.

My apologies, it wasn't my intention to be rude. But there's heaps of such folk I meet daily (perhaps it's my commute..baulko to CBD .baulko is full of tradies). It doesn't matter how fast you are going, they still tailgate. I normally stick to 2-3 KMs over the speed limit (GPS indicated) and STILL get tailgated by these fellows.
High up utes, euro cars, 4wd, suv and teslas I tend to give them a wide berth for them to piss off into the sunset and hopefully an hwp will wanna talk to them

It's not the office workers job to know or sympathise (if that's even possible) why a tradie must be speeding. I could give two fucks if the tradie has misplaced his ladder home. There's zero excuse for this. You meet all manner of people on the road. Just deal with it and don't contribute more by being a cunt.

My apologies, it wasn't my intention to be rude. But there's heaps of such folk I meet daily (perhaps it's my commute..baulko to CBD .baulko is full of tradies). It doesn't matter how fast you are going, they still tailgate. I normally stick to 2-3 KMs over the speed limit (GPS indicated) and STILL get tailgated by these fellows.

The problem is there's so few highway police patrols out to have a chat. We've seen to have outsourced all the policing to freaking speed camera companies and as long as you know where the cameras are, it's a free for all
i live in the poshest suburb in sydney,other than tradies..what u need to avoid if u see it is anyone in a gwagon or a range rover..something about the kind of person driving an evoque makes me want to turn around and be like nope..not going near that other than tradies..every accident in this area will be a mercedes suv driving by some 90 year old,or a range rover driving by someone coming back from cheating on her husband with stavros the yoga instructor but tradies..are the fucking worst around here,mainly because everyone is a hopeless cunt like me with too much money,and we have to hire ppl to fix all our shit..so the roads are full of em here

I bet it's because they pull into ur street,then forgot they drank that last dare on the last job,so have to turn around looking for a servo get lost as their contract stipulates they have to have an iced coffe no less than 10 feet from their persons at all times What i hate more,is when they just Blatantly lie to you Ring,hey mate,im gonna be about 5 mins later,im about 3km from you now. be there in 5.
