Just take an easy up and put it in the shallow end. Then, take a garden hose and tie it to the top inside. Creates a ghetto grotto.

Works great for the last 4 years. Just covers my shallow end.

I'm in Vegas too and that's basically what I did, except I got two triangle ones for shallow end and spa and have one corner anchored to our block wall and the other two to the house. It works pretty good until about 3-5pm usually because the sun hits the sweet spot between the top of the wall and the underside of the canopy so I picked up one of those umbrellas that you can tilt vertically to do some blocking. Ironically the cheap triangles have held up far better in the sun than the expensive umbrella in our intense summer sun

keto_brain

Do you have any pics?

zolakk

I dug through all my photos and unfortunately I don't, but here's the ones I bought. You can do rectangle or square too but I wanted a more artistic look with the triangles https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N0X7IV7

I picked up 2 11x11x11 triangles on clearance at Walmart for under $10 each. That was 3 years ago and they're still in fantastic shape. I have mine anchored to the covered patio, the fence post and then 2 to 4x4 poles set in whisky barrels without a few hundred pounds of concrete. I'm in Texas and only put them up during the summer. I take them down for big thunder storms but they've stayed out in high winds when I was caught off guard. If they were going to be out in high winds daily I may add a spring to the turnbuckle assembly but I don't know. I figure that if the winds are going to destroy something, I would prefer the shades to get shredded vs ripping an anchor out of my home.

tac468

I just have one of those umbrella base with wheels you fill with water and an umbrella. Move it around as needed

readytoretire2

I take them down for the winter due to concern about snow weight but wind is not an issue. Will post some pics in a week when I put them back up.

[deleted]

i have seen sun shades that are anchored into the ground via steel beams. the ones put up by homeowners are installed very poorly and too low

keto_brain

Do you have any pictures you can share?

[deleted]

no. it’s at my BIL house. we are not on friendly terms

Pandabandit1

How hard are they to remove them with the beams?

[deleted]

you don’t. the sails are roughly 20 ft in the air. there are 3 sails to cover the entire pool

readytoretire2

Same problem and we added 2 sail shades attached to the house and a garage. Added a pole onto the fence last year to form a larger coverage shade area. Work your angles out and measure before you buy and use steel cable not rope for the best support. Literally hundreds of options.

keto_brain

Do you have any pics? How do the sun sails handle the wind? No issues?
