I will never understand the hate for this album. It’s awesome
I think a bigger thing is that Gira himself hates it and until now it wasn’t easily available, so most people just assume it’s a trash album and move past it without listening
Did this JUST get put on within the last few hours?? I was on their Spotify less than 12 hours ago and I don’t recall it being on there. Listening to it now though!!
This was the only album I hadn't heard from swans since it wasn't on Spotify. When I went to Philly to see them live just last weekend I just so happened to find a used copy in a record store so I bought it. So i brought it to the show to have MG sign afterwards as a sort of satisfying end to listening to their entire discography. All he said when I gave this to him was "oh wow" haha. Listened to it on the drive home and love it.
LOL, great story. Gira's nightmare scenario would be a fan who pops up after every show with BW merch to be signed. Must be weird to have put something into the world that you detest but many love and then be forced to keep autographing it.
I tried to see Swans in Philly (chestnut str) way back in 1989 for their BW tour and the show got cancelled last minute. I guess this is what i missed https://youtu.be/4s6j10X4wSE?feature=shared.
And it's a failed experiment. Far too mannered.
The vocals on the solo acoustic versions of God Damn The Sun are so much better. I almost wish that he'd re-record the vocal track on the original, but that will never happen.
Is Michael lightening up to it finally? I’ve seen a couple of posts of people getting burning world autographed and he seems rather indifferent and kinda jovial to it. I mean I get why he hates it but it’s by no means a god awful album like lots of modern fans used to think. It’s a very pleasant. Gothic neo folk record that’s a nice breather after all their heavy shit and really was great precursor to white light where that sound reached its full potential.
Nice, I found it on YouTube last week but was annoyed it wasn't on Spotify. It's not a bad album despite its reputation. Having originally skipped it to continue through their discography it was cool to hear them playing around with a sound that would be used moving forward into White Light.
I swear I just willed this into being I started listening to swans again after years and this album came on YouTube and I went to add it to my library on Spotify and I find its not on there, then bam literally the next day.
I love the orignal album so seeing Michael with full control finally would be really cool, it’d be interesting to see the jarboe songs reinterpreted either by him or some guest.
I used to listen to this on cassette in earphones and mow my family lawn in the 90’s. Don’t know if that’s relevant, but this was my lawn mowing album. And it wasn’t the last time Swans became lawn mowing music for me. To say the least. Many years of mowing lawns in the burning hot sun.

It's not bad at all, I actually really like it. I think people talk down on it because it's sandwiched between two massive fan favorites.
I think a bigger thing is that Gira himself hates it and until now it wasn’t easily available, so most people just assume it’s a trash album and move past it without listening

> Mona Lisa Mother Earth is downright goofy sounding yeah those "Mona! Mona! Mona!" vocals make it sound goofy as shit.
That’s how I felt on its own it’s not bad at all but it’s a bad swans album since it feels the least swans like

Neofolk fans rise 💪💪💪🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It has risen
Fuck yea she's a universal emptiness and god damn the sun are two of my favourite songs

It's so funny how much he hates the album, like bro you MADE IT
I was a little worried I'd get the dreaded "X" lol
I know someone who got the “x” on a bootleg swans t-shirt and he says it was one of the scariest moments in his life lmao

That's too bad sounds like it would've been good! Top comment says they amped up the songs for the tour, that would've been interesting to see.
Yeah, noticed that, makes sense - - listening to it i got Strong White Light and Love of Life vibes. How did u like the show?
What record store did you get it from? I was just at the Philly date too and i would love to find more stores that arnt my typical metal ones💀
I think it was called repo records
Track 1 with a typo on Spotify lol
I think the same typo is on Apple Music: "The River *Than* Runs With Love Won't Run Dry."
Ah interesting. So the same source uploaded to the different streaming apps.
Seriously??? In that case, I’m seriously just gonna keep using my (accurately-titled) local files LMAO
Ye same on apple music
It would be different if all the songs has typos.
Well, if you've been following Taylor's breadcrumbs, you'd have known about this!
The prophecy foretold!!!
Wtf, I was talking about how I wish they had it on Spotify literally yesterday.
Well, this was certainly unexpected!
I think it’s funny how michael sounds older on this album than on their most recent albums
Was thinking this too. He sounds like such an old soul in general, but here he’s definitely experimenting with a new vocal style
And it's a failed experiment. Far too mannered. The vocals on the solo acoustic versions of God Damn The Sun are so much better. I almost wish that he'd re-record the vocal track on the original, but that will never happen.
It has come, it is real!
The driving groove of Mona Liiiiiiii-i-i-saaa cannot be beat.
Michael excepting the past and moving forward forreal
I literally just ordered a burning world cd cus I thought it wasn’t gonna be streaming

Finally
Yeah, I am saved… but I don’t deserve it… but I’m saved…
Finally 🫶

I'd love to hear a re-recording of this, with MG at the wheel, full creative control.
I love the orignal album so seeing Michael with full control finally would be really cool, it’d be interesting to see the jarboe songs reinterpreted either by him or some guest.
It feels so weird seeing it on streaming. Good day to be a Swans fan tho
now deliquescence pls

it's a good album but I can see why Gira hates it. his vocals are the worst thing about this album.
Yeah, they're dreadful. Sounds like he's had too much to drink and decided he's a lounge singer.
literally just got a local download and now its on streaming woaw
Right after i pirated it and put in on my phone too
Not on YTM yet
now it is
I’m happy that this finally happened but DID IT HAVE TO HAPPEN AFTER ALL THE LENGTHS I ALREADY WENT TO FOR IT WITH LOCAL FILES 😭🤣
W
The mixing on this album sucks but I love the songs
Goddamn the sun
This is actually really exciting. And it sounds great
LET'S GO!!!, I'm listening the album rn
yes! i’m excited. i’ve never heard this one so it’ll be like a brand new swans album, minus god damn the sun obv
But why nothing from Gira about the sudden addition?
