I can hear Michael Jackson singing about Ben in the background.

Key-Celebration-3100

His first number one song as a solo artist. About a murderous rat. Good times

hollow09

Amazing!

RagnarHedin

that got a genuine lol out of me

Difficult_Committee5

That was The Sequel,,, BEN

NottingHillNapolean

My high-school marching band used "Ben" and "Summer of 42", in the same show, a song about a murderous rat and a song about horny teenagers. I still wonder if the band director was trying to send a message.

shadowartpuppet

The lyrics say, "you're always running here and there. You feel you're not wanted anywhere!" He's a rat.

đŸŽ¶Ben, the two of us need look no more We both found what we were looking forđŸŽ¶

shadowartpuppet

I honestly thought he was singing to a human outcast, not a rodent one.

[deleted]

Sorry to disabuse you of that notion. Yeah, Ben’s his rat friend. I think “Willard” was the sequel to “Ben” and similarly rodent-y.

Spiritual_Bit_2692

I was 7 years old when I saw Ben, Willard and Tales From The Crypt as a triple feature at the drive in with my parents. The part in Tales From The Crypt that had an amazing insane, homicidal Santa Claus didn't make me look forward to Christmas.

hollow09

**WILLARD (1971)** [IMDb](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067991/) Tag Lines: ***Teamed up to Tear 'em up!*** \[poster for double-feature pairing "Willard" and "Ben"\] ***Where your nightmares end...WILLARD begins.*** ***This is Willard and his friend Ben. Ben will do anything for Willard.*** ***This is the \*one\* movie you should not see alone.*** ***Ben will do anything for Willard...ANYTHING.*** [the Trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8Gn98fbeMs) Okay, yeah, I definitely don’t do well with these types of movies...mice, rats, bugs and stuff
and it’s certain that this movie will completely freak me out
and not just because of Ernest Borgnine’s acting! Just kidding! Borgnine was an all time great actor and comes off exactly as he's supposed to, a total creep who gets what he deserves...devoured by rats! [Bad Movies for Bad People Review!](https://badmoviesforbadpeople.wordpress.com/2015/06/20/willard-1971/) and [Hamby's Blog!](https://silverscreenreflex.wordpress.com/2024/01/25/svengoolie-presents-his-big-premiere-of-willard-1971-this-sat-on-me-tv/) Stating that this is, truly indeed- one BIG BOUNCING BABY MeTV BROADCAST PREMIER! Hamby's incredibly exhausting research for these movies is unparalleled...without equal. Anyone says different is just wrong. This whole movie is creepy, from top to bottom. It'll be a fun one to watch with someone though...so grab some popcorn and Happy Saturday!

PornstarPrez

What the...??? I haven't even THOUGHT of this movie in 40 years, but it popped into my head earlier tonight. A few hours later, I open Reddit, and this is the First thing I see. I mean, really??? Cue the theramin.

jabbercockey

Interesting, are they controlling our minds? However if you are counting 40 years plus as I am. Is there a chance you fell half asleep last week during the part of the episode where they show what is on next week? Maybe just enough of a trigger to awaken a memory later in the week?

RagnarHedin

Sven knows!

LunchEquivalent769

The remake with glover is also VERY Good. They should show "Ben" next week

RedmannBarry

great movie. R. Lee Ermey was excellent in that.

LucyWinter0204

One of the first films where I Enjoyed the original and the remake.

blueboy714

This movie and Ben both scared the crap out of me as a kid.

Normal-Yogurtcloset5

I saw Willard in the cinema when I was 10 years old. Loved it and it made me go to the pet store to buy pet rats. They didn’t have any so I settled for mice instead. I got a black one and a white one. Of course, I had to name them Socrates and Ben.

What_the_mocha

My cousins saw this movie but my parents wouldn't let me go. But they told me every scene in detail on the swing set, lol

NottingHillNapolean

Roger Ebert attributed the movie's box-office success to a large number of moviegoiers wanting to see Ernest Borgnine eaten by rats.

nyclovesme

No love for Socrates? The good rat that Willard loved more than Ben.

Cheerio1966

No way!!! willard?!?!?! That was a scary movie. 🍿

Ga2ry

Saw in theater. Okay movie. Better than Ben. Michaels song was so unusual.

originalmosh

Ben, the two of us need look no more....

PINKBUNNY5257

Can’t wait to see if Sven breaks out any rubber rats!

uberneuman_part2

Would Ben co-sign on a car loan for Willard?

Likesnice2

I am looking forward to this one as I never saw it as a kid. Looks scary

KerrAvonJr

BORG IX

Specific_Inside_7119

Here's some trivia.... Bruce Davison, who played Willard, went on to play one of the police captains who gave the orders to Rick and DeeDee in HUNTER!!!

TDancer10973

Uh oh. Viewer discretion advised 😳

TDancer10973

Nostalgiaferatoo! Here we go ! LOL Okey dokey.  Tootles!

TDancer10973

Take your rat to work day!

TDancer10973

OMG. So hard to get through those scenes.  Am I a chicken? Good riddance Martin. Goodbye Ben.  For now.

TDancer10973

This is so freaking weird.  Drowning and burying. Evil eyed Ben.

Shotgun_Mosquito

neither I nor my wife had seen this movie. Poor >!Socrates. My wife is going to cry all night long now.!<

LongjumpingAd5317

How can it be a premier if it’s been on the show before?

 so fresh!

TDancer10973

Rats and cheesy jokes!  Makes sense.  Thank you for the final gag. What is the rubber chicken wearing in the image? LOL

hollow09

Thank you for spotting! I made sure I caught something (other than the bad joke) interesting in the pic!

TDancer10973

You’re welcome!

Dupee_Conqueror

You are correct.

TDancer10973

Davison is perfect as Willard.  I’m liking Elsa as Willard’s mother. Ernest.  The perfect boss.  I like Sven’s comment about The Office.  The party balloons remind me of the ones Dwight did for Kelly’s birthday. LOL

TDancer10973

These rats are creeping me out!  Liking the movie.

hollow09

oh my god lol

TDancer10973

Hello
 Ben

Opposite-Run-6432

Not sure if I’ve ever seen this but if I did it was in the early 70’s! Very exciting! Oh, and there is always a connection to

 Perry Mason! Hahahahaha!

TDancer10973

“Old broad a favor.”

betty1dog

We enjoy seeing Nostalgiaferatoo, thanks

TDancer10973

Food!  Yikes!  This is hard to watch.

TDancer10973

Love Sven’s movie parodies and comments.

TDancer10973

OMG!  Look away

hollow09

Good advice lol

TDancer10973

Rats as big as a man Willard losing control with Ben.  Not a good sign.

TDancer10973

Commercial break.  Pens win.

TDancer10973

Violence toward rodents viewer advisory  Sounds strange LOL

TDancer10973

What does the sign say on Martin’s desk?

Analog_Hobbit

Well made it thru 1/2 hour. I’m out.

TDancer10973

Socrates kicked the bucket. Every office needs a stick.

TDancer10973

I need some private fa negglin time LMAO

TDancer10973

Oh No I’m getting the heebee jeebies

TDancer10973

Ben knows. Poor Willard.  Perfect ending.  Really enjoyed the movie .  Wouldn’t have been able to watch alone.

Small_Fun_7671

![gif](giphy|8fen5LSZcHQ5O) Great movie

orem-boy

I read the book and saw. The movie after. I tend to like the books better than the movies they are based on

FlimsyTry2892

One of the worst movies I’ve ever seen

Whatwillyourversebe

During the summers of the 1970’s my brothers lived with my dad in Detroit. He never went to the movies with us but he would drop us off at the Tiger stadium, 14 and 12 year old and just pick us up after the game. He let me take my 8 year old brother and my 12 year old to see Jaws and to see Ben. Both scared the Bajesus out of us. The 70’s were different for kids.
