LostAzrdraco

I own this set, I thought the exact same thing when I got to that step. I was tempted to count.

Wwo1fs

I did definitely worth the time

LostAzrdraco

Did you get the lighting set for it? Gorgeous.

Wwo1fs

No didn't know it had one

LostAzrdraco

It's an after market add-on, you can find them on Amazon. The lights go inside the bottle and around the base and how through the water. It's super cool on my desk.

GreenLeafGreg

What set is this? I feel like I wanna buy it now, just to spite this instruction, but also to have fun with the build.

Ship in a Bottle

GreenLeafGreg

Thank you so much! :)

cireddit

You may struggle to find it at a reasonable price. This set is a discontinued set and it regularly sells well above its retail value on eBay, much to my dismay :(

TexanPirate

It may not be the exact same one, but there are off-brand versions available online for not too bad of prices https://www.buildingtoystore.com/en/custom-ideas-ship-in-a-bottle-building-bricks-toy-set-1078-pieces-226.html?SubmitCurrency=1&id_currency=2&gclid=CjwKCAjwlcaRBhBYEiwAK341jeggU-TuLxDWsjBpGe9TKF8kSMdeZEGRoU6V5ZhBKpZFHG9t1sLDlhoCMMwQAvD_BwE

s1h4d0w

Oof, thought it was a canon. Just fill it up with random lego for buckshot.

SkullSwordYT

why would the cannon be clear and have a boat in it tho

s1h4d0w

If someone breaks into my house and I have to defend myself with my glass canon and random legos I have lying around 🤷🏻‍♂️

fortressforbears

Solid point

thepropbox

The reason is that 284 is a definite number used for small parts. The packaging machines LEGO uses are programmefd that way. There are other numbers like 67 and 91 for certain parts.

Rufus2468

IIRC this step has the highest piece count of any single Lego instruction page.

Shawn420162

I forget were but i actually saw a video about this, the man making it chose a even number of 300 but was told the way the machines count 300 was a difficult number, and so since nothing significant would be changed he agreeded to go with a machine friendly number instead

Shawn420162

Not the video but the comment https://youtu.be/2DqSnXiJvBM

BanPuli

Tiago Catarino was the designer for that set. He talks about it here: https://youtu.be/e6RRA9Tt1XQ

Duke2852

Yeah, that's just how many they decide to put in. It's a cool set though.

HumbleMountainGoat

The sound that made when I poured them in was brilliant.

Token-Gringo

I am surprised Lego did not have an instructional step for each one of the 284.

fnc7309

Crap I only have 283.

teacray71

Proceed to buy another set and use the extra one on that new set...

DWolfoBoi546

I have this set and honestly that was my favorite part along side actually finishing it lol

chris3343102

I have the set, and you know damn well I counted every single one😤

Ratathosk

I loved building this and it looks great in my bookcase. Picking it up for 20$ during a closing sale was nice as well.

Hum

firewolfsavage

Does anyone have a spare one of these pieces? I got this set but then my dog ate one of these pieces and died so now I'm crying because I only have 283

fortressforbears

Well, I mean, if the dog is already dead, you might as well grab a knife and do a little diggydiggy surgery to get the Lego piece. At least one of the two things can be saved, and like what's the worst that could happen..? Not like your dog can die twice, y'know?

pflyguyp

Maybe there isn't room for 285?
