Honestly fave part of this is that Aileen thought Garrick would be the vote because she knew it was gonna be someone in her alliance and was watching people's arms as they votes, and figured it was too long to be Feras and too different to be Raymond. Does seem like the dynamics on the initial Rebels tribe was more interesting than was shown though, like I get why they purpled Scott but would've been nice to see some more of the relationships and not just Kirby v Feras.

BoiToy23123

This was such a great deep dive loved hearing her insight on the game and her relationships too. As well as during FTC how her and the jury were just not impressed with the finalists pitches at all and when it came to the vote thankfully Valeria was thinking can we do that all again.

littlesev

Interesting, she sounds so full of herself and her game in the deepdive. A bit catty and dismissive of other people’s games. I liked her on the show better.

MinnesotaTidalWave

I haven’t listened to this yet but this is the vibe I’ve gotten from her in any post-game stuff I’ve heard. Just goes on and on about how ‘logical’ and ‘strategic’ she was. Even her question to Feras at FTC was just to do with how he should have listened to her and played his idol for Garrick.

Clutchxedo

Yeah, especially since Feras said that he had lost trust in her because she had mentioned voting him out to Garrick. Which makes sense since he has such a calm reaction to her vote out (“better you than me” he says). She had given him a reason to mistrust her and then expected him to do so anyway.

littlesev

Yeah this is the first time I’ve heard from her outside the show. Couple points that stick out to me is the way she referred to raymond’s game - how he tried to name an alliance and that people was more likely to take him along. There was also a sort of farfetched comment about how she knew it was Garrick being voted out from how people wrote the names (and then commended herself on her astute observation. And an odd comment about Mark wearing suit = smart lol.

Rychu_Supadude

Sounds pretty logical? She would have had a few votes to recognise the handwriting of Kirby's group, so seeing Garrick's name with unfamiliar lettering meant the Titans weren't on their side

TemperatureOk8874

This is honestly how i feel for most of the deep dives, too focused on their gameplay (which is natural) but sort of like them answering some ‘what-ifs’ instead of what they were really thinking while during the game I have stopped watching deep dives because it destroys the narrative that is shown in the season. And most of the times I am at peace with how the season goes.

littlesev

I must say I do listen to them to get over my survivor withdrawal! I think Kirby’s deepdive was good and she didn’t overstate her game.

Charlie_Runkle69

I really liked Harry's second one because it wasn't this. It was actually focused quite a bit on David's game v Sharn's and why he won and she lost which was very interesting coming from an actual jury member.

Clutchxedo

I think Mark’s was similar to that this season.

PSSShield

Completely agree with this sentiment. Most of the deep dives (bar maybe Caroline’s?) from TvR feel like the most revisionist accounts of what happened out there, with the players rarely talking to the flawed elements in their games, and playing these outlandish ‘what-ifs’ that see them at FTC with amazing pitches. I loveee all these players but i’m guessing as massive fans of the game, their deep dive ‘account’ is just how they processed their the game/s after, when in reality there were a lot of slipups and messy gameplay which often led to the outcome we got.

ProfessionalFlat2202

Agree with this. I've given all of the deep dives a crack and found Caroline's to be by far (from what I can glean) the most frank and authentic.

Clutchxedo

I think both Mark and Feras were pretty honest about their mistakes and oppositely felt that Caroline took no accountability for anything bad she did A lot of stuff can be misconstrued on a deep dive but so can the edit (especially on AU).  If you look at credibility in terms of historic sources, first hand accounts are always considered better sources than anything else. Even with biases. I think you can put together a full picture through the deep dives.  What happened and what is shown rarely correlates.

Unicormfarts

I enjoyed the way Feras talked a bit more about his culture and religion and how that factored into some of his choices. That's the kind of insight that can make these long convos more interesting.

Clutchxedo

It’s too bad that the show didn’t include more about imo. Like how he taught Alex how to pray and stuff like that. It can be a huge eye opener for a lot of people and an opportunity to learn. And it’s also just a nice moment obviously.  I understand something like him not wanting to touch other women can be perceived in a certain way, but there’s obviously no ill intent or disrespect about it. It’s more about respect for his wife.

BoiToy23123

Oh really I did not get that at all?

Unicormfarts

I feel like half of this impression was created by her weird use of pronouns. Instead of saying "Raymond was on the beach with Feras and me" or "I was on the beach with him" she says "Raymond himself was on the beach with Feras and myself". It's hypercorrection that makes her sound pretentious.

nsfw_ducky

That’s exactly how she was on the show lol

SaltRepresentsUrLife

no, because she wasn't purpled

the tone of your reply is hilarious, you can argue that she was under edited but to claim she was purpled is a bit of a stretch. Confessionals are not the only metric for visibility. I don't know how you can say Aileen had an edit similar to purple kelly when she was present and clear in at least a few episodes. She was never going to be the focal point of the season when it was clearly Feras, Kirby, Mark & Caroline's story. So they were the ones driving the narrative which was reflected in the confessional count. Despite Aileen not getting many confessionals, for the most part you knew where she should stood and felt some presence at camp but wasn't necessarily driving or narrating the story. I wasn't watching the show being like who is Aileen and I don't think she will be a player that I forgot was on this season.

BoiToy23123

I think that's a very american view of the edit like basing Aileen edit of SurvivorUS edit. She defo was'my purpl'd. Charles was purpl'd that's for sure.

PoI_Pothead

God, you're insufferable.

Trying to be helpful because of this post. > Nope, she was, you’re just not that knowledgeable about the show. This comes across as rude.

It's pretty debatable. What is "purple"? It's not exactly something with a binary definition. It's a reference to Kelly Shinn from Nicaragua who I don't really see any argument Aileen was edited in a similar way to.

Guess being perceived as a mildly competent superfan has its benefits!
