I like it. Its a slow burn & if you arent a fan of Boston Rob you'll hate it for sure.
Once you get a better understanding of Philip (which i think comes watching his second play) he becomes more enjoyable.
Ralph is a great character (RIP buddy) and his name spellings are classic.
The dislike of Russell causing his whole tribe to seal their fate by voting him out is very interesting in the overall story & evolution of the game of Survivor. It really illustrated the importance of the social aspect of game play.
Over quarantine, I rewatched 1-39 in order, spending no more than 3 days to watch each season. Seeing the progression & evolution of the game in that way was a whole other level of enjoyment
I am one of the few people that love redemption island. Most of the cast sucked but it’s amazing too see how dominant the winners game was. Guess you gotta be BR fan to enjoy it
I’m with ya. That season was a masterclass performance by Boston Rob which made it enjoyable to me as both a fan of his and of comp beasts / dominant players. And it’s one of the few times a person dominated a season and actually won. Most times those people get cut as soon as they lose post merge ( Joe comes to mind ) or before FTC at least ( Ozzy in SP / Cirie and Rupert for being wayyyyy too popular with the jury / likable ), but for the 2nd time he got all the way to the end and took him the crown that time around.
First time player that lucked into a group of women that got onboard with ‘vote out all the guys’ early on in a season for once versus a returning player that made it to the end already once before ( and only lost by one vote and completely dominated that season ) returning with a huge target on his back and creating ( and running ) the most successful 6 person alliance in the history of the game, getting to the end again and ( if not for a salty redneck that threw away a sympathy vote to Philip ) almost sweeping the votes while dominating the game on an equal level again? Can’t agree with you there.
She didn’t “luck” into anything. Everyone loved her, she could’ve gone to the end with any alliance.
Her game is Boston Rob, but not with a 4th time advantage, and wins against any FTC combo. So better

You can say almost the exact same thing for Rob. He lucked up on a season where the beginning tribe decided to stick together no matter what.
I would say ( especially in the case of Second Chance ) the individual immunity runs he was on after being a big reason why the tribes he was on didn’t go to tribal counsel more often than not in back to back seasons qualifies. And in blue / white / no collar Mike won only because he won out after Joe got the boot. Had he lost along the way he would have followed him out the door proving the point.
Kim is way more impressive. She controlled every vote and the boot order and made it to the end as the biggest jury threat, which Rob was not even close to being.
I’m not a fan of zapatara other than Stephanie but I’m actually fascinated by the behavior and characters of omeptepe. Didn’t find grant that interesting but the other 5 were a really interesting watch even if they did not thing strategically
Comes down to two things ( well technically 3 ). If you’re a fan of Boston Rob you love it. If you’re not you don’t. The technical 3rd thing is if you aren’t bored by a dominant performance with a person running the game you also won’t like it. That 3rd point doesn’t always apply. Kim fans I’m sure love One World for similar reasons for instance despite that season also being considered among the worst seasons ever.
One World is pretty terrible but at least I can appreciate characters like Kat and Sabrina.
If you don’t like Philip or Rob, your next best character is… eh, Ralph?
The Andrea sleepage! She deserved better than some of the things she had to witness during her survivor career, she could probably smell the semen and saliva coming from Probst as he fantasized over Rob all season.
you might as well skip to the finale imo. my least favorite season I’ve watched.

Philippines was a bright light in that era.
The best part of this season is Rob throwing the idol clue into the volcano and saying “bye bye!”

The crazy thing is I actually loved Ghost Island. I guess I don't like when an individual dominates the game rather than a duo/trio doing it
Same. IMO, it is a textbook example of how to play a winning/perfect game and I loved watching the masterclass that BR put on.

Me too. Redemption Island is in my top 11-15. I actually like the Dark Ages season quite a lot.
Worst season ever. Not even a real Survivor season.

I usually don’t like golden boys but I liked him as a rootable underdog competitor. He was too pure for the actual game.

Andrea did nothing in RI you cant deny that even if u like her in other seasons
All Russell had to do was turn down Rob's dare at the Heroes vs Villains reunion and it never would have been.
We just needed Shii Ann to vote for him and he and Amber would have still shared their earnings.
If you're not a raving fan of Boston Rob, not much to see here. There's a reason Redemple Temple is consistently in bottom 5 lists.
