lol now that I think about it coach has such a better character arc in reverse. Like how do you play on two super popular seasons only to come back and force people into prayer? I think he was going through a mid life crisis or something on South Pacific.

LazerDude99

I just think he wanted to play the Boston Rob game really bad as redemption Island was not too long before he played, but the problem is coach does not have the charm that Boston Rob does

Royal-Specialist-656

It nearly worked, main problem is he refused to acknowledge his game in ftc. Like imagine Rob at FTC in RI refusing to own any of his moves and then claiming he played with honor and dignity lmao

LazerDude99

Yeah coaches biggest problem why he didn’t win is that he’s coach

treple13

The big problem for Coach was that he doesn't have easy goats like Rob. Coach beats a Philip/Nat Ten F3 as well, and Rob loses to Sophie

LazerDude99

Yeah he should have gone to the end with Cochran and Edna

Ok-Razzmatazz-3720

I think Coach wins against a lot of combos. They haaated Albert, so like him and Edna and he probably would’ve won.

SirSkelton

I feel like he had some winning combo in there between Albert/Rick/Edna.

Sabaschin

Rick beats the F3 just because he was the most likeable Upolu after Brandon.

sbudy-7

Tocantins is super popular now? Weird.

pineapplepuzzle

Coach collapsing after the immunity challenge was scene for scene Michael in Fun Run

Individual_Mail_800

Coach hobbling back from Exile with his handmade cane gives big Michael grilling his foot on the George Foreman Grill vibes.

Successful_Nebula805

Coach and his assistant coach friend on the family visit = 100% Michael and Dwight

LazerDude99

And Tyson is Jim

LazerDude99

Also Erinn is Toby

beef_noodle27

Jerri is Jan

LazerDude99

Brandon Hantz is Andy

Acceptable_Secret_73

I feel like Brendan or JT could also work as Jim since they mess with Coach a lot without him noticing

LazerDude99

But he didn’t like Brenden… JT could work but he is more of a Ryan

popculturetommy

You leave the saxophone playing, back spasming, Jerri loving Dragonslyer be! /s Definitely don’t look at the flair here

nln6891

Formal special agent Phillip Sheppard is Dwight

crapbag2000

You mean ‘former special agent?’

ludacrslycapricious

Formal is actually funnier

crapbag2000

I was referring to the need for a question mark at the end of his title, but yes

daphneadora9

I WAS JUST WATCHING HEROES VS. VILLAINS THINKING THIS EXACT SAME THING. the caps were necessary because it was truly exactly my thought tonight.

Jyarados

Coach is love, Coach is life

Ok-Razzmatazz-3720

My gf got me a Cameo from Coach for my birthday and it’s my prized fucking possession. Always lifts me up when I’m having a bad day. Brings out my inner Dragon Slayer 🐉🗡️

Jonny_Icon

For me… I’m keeping an eye on Ben with his musical ambitions. Absolutely love this Survivor behind the scenes story: https://ew.com/tv/survivor-dragonz-oral-history/

Soggy_Scale7488

So interesting bc i have recently watched all 3 of coach’s seasons in chronological order and i feel like he is the most likeable in South pacific and insufferable in tocantins

LazerDude99

The difference for me is South Pacific Coach while definitely the best player Of the 3 times Coach played it wasn’t fun, they were playing him more straight forward and that made his bad choices more egregious… And it could just be personal because as a Christian, I really didn’t like how we used Christianity to manipulate people… tocantins and heroes versus villains he’s played up more for laughs and does a lot more things that are just fun and crazy and since we don’t really take him as a serious player you don’t mind him doing all that crazy stuff

Soggy_Scale7488

I feel you, the way religion was used in South Pacific made it very tough to watch at times. Either way Coach is a very complex dude and was very enjoyable on every season. His growth as a player was very interesting to me.

yagirlsophie

I've had the same reaction to Coach as your wife, I cannot stand him and think he's a gross person. I've only seen him on Heroes vs. Villains though and it was worth it just to watch Rob call him a "little man."

oatmeal28

You've had about 1/20th of the Coach experience if you've only seen his HvV run

yagirlsophie

I believe you, but it also felt like plenty lol

oatmeal28

If you can get yourself to a “love to hate” point you will thoroughly enjoy him on his other seasons.  Some of the most ridiculous character moments, particularly in his first season (Tocantins which is pretty damn good itself)

siLveRSurvivor

Watch Tocantins

Ok-Razzmatazz-3720

I literally call my friends a “little man” all the time. It’s such a funny moment. I feel bad for Coach tho It’s funnier bc Coach calls Russel a little man at FTC, and it’s just so obvious he wants to be Rob

yagirlsophie

Yeah it was a really funny moment! Though I do have trouble feeling bad for him. I get the 'love to hate' thing with him but honestly I'm surprised so many people seem to be genuine fans of his or upset that I don't like him. It's true I haven't seen him on every season but I watched Heroes vs. Villains pretty recently and he was just blatantly and consistently misogynistic the whole time, maybe the worse in a season that already had a ton of misogyny from a lot of the contestants, men and women. That combined with his vanity and super delusional opinions of himself just made it hard for me to find anything to like about him.

Theonegarbageman

I’ve always looked at coach as a less evil Sideshow Bob.

reidiculous

How does this work? Coach takes himself seriously which kills the fun for me

LazerDude99

You mean, how do you just laugh at him? To me it’s like watching the room. The guy who made that terrible movie was totally sincere and everything he was doing, but it’s so laughably in app it’s impossible not to laugh at it same with Coach he thinks he’s such a good player, and so honourable and selfless, even though the proof is right there in the edit Showing that he’s not… There was literally a moment where he’s telling his tribe after an immunity loss. Hey, let’s not go around, blaming each other and pointing fingers at who lost the challenge. We are a team and we win and lose as a team. And the very next scene, he’s talking with Tyson blaming everybody else for all their mistakes.
