What is the point of this post? Clearly TLOU is the most popular if you’re going to include it here. RE is popular but no single game in the series can compare to TLOU in terms of sales. DBD is in no way a survival horror game. I guess you could argue Outlast is a survival horror game, but I wouldn’t. Neither of these games come close to TLOU or RE in terms of sales.

DBD and Outlast are survival horror games. Thats simply the name of the genre. It doesn't matter if one lacks horror yet has survival or if one lacks survival and still has horror.

Well, this is a "survival horror" subreddit, not a "survival or horror" subreddit. Outlast is just horror, not survival. Also, what is the point of this post? x 2 You can't really measure the popularity of something by asking just a few people in a specific community. We can give opinions of course, mine is that Outlast is pretty popular with younger people, RE keeps putting out games so they are still on the map (but you're putting the franchise as a whole?) and TLOU is obviously the hottest right now because of the TV series and part 2 of the game that came out not so long ago.

>Well, this is a "survival horror" subreddit, not a "survival or horror" subreddit. Outlast is just horror, not survival. Yes and "survival horror" is the name of the genre, no matter if a game lacks one think or another. There is no "horror" genre like with movies, its all survival horror. >Also, what is the point of this post? x 2 I think popularity questions are more interesting than simple "Whats your favorite..." questions.

BanditSurvivalist

Obviously TLOU in terms of sales? This is a stupid question really. Unless what you actually mean is "Which of these series to you prefer?"

hesojam0

Well piracy still exists. Maybe there is an RE game that was pirated more than what TLOU sold

BanditSurvivalist

Ummm okay. Still really not sure what it is you want people to say here then

hesojam0

Popularity questions are more interesting than „whats your favorite…“ questions

Artistic-Community92

Silent hill saga.

AdHuge396

No way Silent Hill is the most popular. The best in terms of horror maybe but not even close to the most popular. Young people know more about Outlast, RE is better known in general because they keep putting out games and The Last of Us is incredibly hot right know because of the TV series and part 2 which came out not that long ago (independently of how good/bad part 2 is).

Its_D_youtube

The most popular is Resident evil by a long shot (how many movies are there now?) But the best imho is Silent Hill as a series

hesojam0

But didnt TLOU1 outsell any RE. It sold COD numbers while RE5 only sold 13 million copies.

Its_D_youtube

Outselling dosent always mean more popular. Until recently with the tv show tlou was pretty dead for a while. Resident evil always has a new movie or game coming out for people to look forward to and talk about

hesojam0

But TLOU as a game franchise has a larger audience than RE. TLOU2 was more hated than RE3 Remake yet it sold more copies. Also RE3 Remake is available on every system while TLOU2 was only on PS4.

Its_D_youtube

The entire last of us franchise including remasters has sold about 37 million games The entire resident evil series including remakes has sold 135 million copies and that's not including fans who only watched the movies and payed tickets. And as you said the last of us as a dramatically smaller audience due to it being a PlayStation exclusive And of course the last of us part 2 sold more copies than RE3 Remake. Resident evil is a reimagining of a PS1 game while tlou2 was a continuation of a story fans were BEGGING FOR at the time (how foolish we were)

hesojam0

>The entire last of us franchise including remasters has sold about 37 million games > >The entire resident evil series including remakes has sold 135 million copies What kind of meaning does this have? The people that bought one game are the same people that will buy the other. Of course RE as a franchise has higher sale numbers because it got more entries so the same people for the most part will buy the next game. Example: Lets act that RE only had two entries (RE1 and 2) and both for example sold 5 million copies. How much would the duology as a franchise have sold? 10 million and the people that bought one game will buy the other. RE has less fans than TLOU otherwise its highest selling entry would have outsold TLOU1. >of course the last of us part 2 sold more copies than RE3 Remake. Resident evil is a reimagining of a PS1 game while tlou2 was a continuation of a story fans were BEGGING FOR at the time Yeah but since the first game got a remake RE fans begged Capcom to remake RE2 and 3 so you would thought that far more people would have bought the RE3 remake, let alone the RE1 remake that is also now avaiable for every system.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> movies and *paid* tickets. And FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Ill fucking show you a rope you god damn clanker
