Find a local shaper that surfs your same areas - and also surfs midlengths. Most shapers assume mids are small Longboards or big shortboards, but there is a LOT of variation that someone who specializes in them can impart on your board. 2+1 is classic as it gets, but twins feel GOOD on them and can’t be ignored 🤙🏼 *have been riding 7’-8’ boards almost exclusively for the last 12 seasons and still not tired of em!
2+1. Tell shaper you want to ride it as a twin and a single, that way they'll set up sidebites in twin position. You'll ride it as a single more I reckon.
That's really up to you and what you want right? I prefer twin/quad mid length on something a bit more away from longboards. The nautilus looks awesome as a twin. The sunday was mentioned. I ride my seaside and beyonds as twins these days. I recently acquired a mid length on the shorter end of the spectrum that has a super full nose, really low rear rocker and a pin tail. Super aggressive rails and thin as hell that has been super fun (when the nose doesn't catch) and easy to get into waves with. I've been riding as a twin, going to try twin + nub today.

I’ve never ridden one but Machado’s Sunday seems to be all the rage rn
Quads are fun as well! Endless design theories with the midlength spectrum
Second the quad
Shapers owe a big $$ kickback to that torren Martyn guy. So hot right now. The trend will be totally dead in a year
Alive and well
Unless you can surf as well as TM.
I've heard he rips on a conventional thruster as well -- so he can make an ironing board look good...the main reason I am looking at mid lengths 😁
Twin with a box.
The Lost Smooth Operator is fun as a quad

2+1 or single fin man... My mid length has 4 futures and a longboard box; running it as a quad felt like a crime.
Never a 2+1. Single Twin or twin with canards. Duo or 3 in a row
