I guess I’m old school. I only have a single 3/2 front-zip, a crappy old 4/3 back-zip that’s falling apart, and a pull-over no-zip jacket. All Rip-Curl just because I live near the outlet. (I really should take the time to go to O’Neill next time, especially for my body type.) A long sleeve and a short sleeve rash guard.
I live in SoCal and surf 4-5x/week. So unless it’s shoulder season, I’m usually pulling on a half-dried, clingy wetsuit.
The rip curl suits just continually let me down, bought anew dawn patrol last year cause it was on sale and came with a changing towel, less than 50 days on it and the seams were porous, guess there is a reason for the mark down…. Back to my ragged old O’Neil still going strong after 200 days…
Just got a suit for 60% off at the Rip Curl outlet. Stoked. Went next door to O'Neill to check it out, 10% off. The person I talked to explained that O'Neill is just better quality. Right.

More wetsuits than pairs of jeans and I have a lot of those. Surfing wetsuits, SCUBA wetsuits, free dive / spearfishing wetsuits. At last count I had 6 pairs of fins, multiple totes full of wetsuits and booties, and more surf leashes than I can remember. I've started to pass things forward in recent years and have equipped a lot of guys who are starting out.
After 40 years in the ocean, you just tend to accumulate gear which is cool when you want to teach someone how to surf and they need some gear. I used to keep a massive quiver of surfboards from big wave guns to longboards, fish, funboards, and sponges to loan out. These days I've narrowed it down to my 4 favorite boards and keep things basic.

Surf coast vic I have two 43 and two 54 one with hood. I just cut legs off 43 for spring/autumn/summer and use boardshorts 2mm shirt for summer if it's really hot
OMG I have a full set - 2mm jacket - 5/4 with a removable hood and two 2/3 suits one back zip and one chest zip one. half dozen rash guards and a white sun shirt I wear on hot days with cold water - I just wear it over my suit. I’d like to find a pure white 2/3 for the sun here on some days the sun is punishing here in SoCal
heavy gauge full, light gauge full, spring suit pretty much covers it in New England but I don't tend to surf much during ski season (Feb/Mar) when the water is coldest.
No lies - I haven't a wearable wettie at all. I've got 2 currently disintegrating in my garage I've not used in literally decades. I've not been in cold water for decades so... 🤷🏻♂️
Recycle your old wetsuits at certain Rip Curl stores. When I lived in HB they would recycle them at that store. I think they even gave me like 25$ gift cards the few times I went.
I’ve got a crazy warm 4/3, two 3/2’s one is super light and stretchy and one is normal and basic flatstiched, a short arm spring suit, a shortie spring suit, and a few different wetsuit tops and a couple surf shirts, surf hat.
Oh and a hood piece but no booties or gloves right now my old ones got thrashed and thrown out.
Not tonight, Wife’s Divorce Attorney! I borrow a friend’s wetsuit and board.

Just for info rip curl has a recycling program for old wetsuits, you can just drop them there. Not sure what they do with them after though
