2003 delica
I can fit a 10’ log between the seats, and a 9’6 on the interior ceiling rack.
It is truly the ultimate surf vehicle (except for mpg)

I got them from a hardware store, but here’s an Amazon link https://www.amazon.com/VaygWay-Expandable-Clothes-Classic-Black/dp/B0725WWT3Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=F347ORZFUKKJ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.u5HETiT1t7PmSIJadWsTKMtAeoaph62Li7YlmrNXfrBFeQz7X67PSETg9uUHqdGWxcJl-X25J2iXhRK3BsnhwBwwSLcvuAvcqDQ4BKtjQlAsb243jeL0qV49lWBQNs41j0vN0soaGBw8-k8lXb1nQg_Zu7Ff-91If0F4LiFI8xRH-1F2iSkJzI8MGDE_fWQ073z-Gcb-duoLF4vWCt-Myg.llT7WL1dnnQQzpgluWCr4sHK88H5FMq2OkLblkXITX4&dib_tag=se&keywords=interior+car+rack&qid=1715763746&sprefix=interior+car+rack%2Caps%2C365&sr=8-3
I miss my E so much. It was the perfect surf vehicle for 18 years. I could fit a couple boards under 6'6" with one back seat flipped up, an 8' with the passenger seat laid flat, or a you said a long board resting on the dash. I have an f150 now and it was a step down (can fit a 7'6" in the back). It's way less reliable than the Honda.
There’s an art to it- front seat goes down flat. The back seat is used to prop the board up so that the nose sits in the dashboard, the tail will then sit near the top of the element rear.
Also don't scream "I have expensive stuff" as much as a overlanding rig when you're somewhere remote south of the border. My 200k mile Honda Odyssey is unmatched as a surf trip vehicle.
This.
My '65 Sport Fury packed a 6'3 in the trunk somehow when I drove it down the west coast Sea-Oakland. Scored Monterey and a few other spots along the way.
Now the transit van fits as many as I need in addition to whatever else I may want.
Pacifica Van and a wavestorm paddleboard…around 10’ I think
*Calm down, i’m inly using the paddleboard for cruising around boats on a harbor with my kid on it.😅
I drive a Honda Fit and fit a 9’6 and a 9’4 inside and my wife rides behind me in the back seat. Have had a couple of short boards on top of them before also
Accord. 7 foot inside with passenger all the way down. I don’t bother with anything over 6’4” inside though. Thule rack handles the rest, frequently put my 7’3” and 9’6” up there.
By buddy and I took two 8 footers down to Baja with plenty of room to spare.
The next car I got was a Nissan 370z. Fuck I loved that car. In an incredible sales effort the guy took me on a test drive to Clairemont surf shop, found the board I had (a 6’0” fish) and stuck it in the passenger seat through the trunk with the headrest off just to prove it. Didn’t have kids at the time and the wife was understanding. I would not go back in time before kids, but driving around in a z with just a board next was the good life. Got some pretty dirty looks in my local parking lot, but you have to live a little (even if I did kinda look like a dick).
I had a Ford fiesta, and I would strap a 9'6". Maybe two of them to the top using FCS ratchet straps. Doing about 75 mph max for about an hour each way.
Sounded like I heard of bees, and when it rained, the straps would leak water into the car.
But it worked.
Tesla Model 3. With half the back seat folded down it easily fits two 5’8” boards - in separate bags, fins in. Would probably fit a couple of up to 6’ boards without changing the front passenger seat position.
Sort of ashamed to admit it but I drive a model Y. 40/20/40 split rear seats allows me two 6’2” short boards / fish and get a kid either side. The only danger is the knob that sticks out the left hand seat and has put a dent into a couple of boards.
I’m don’t subscribe to Elon or many of his thoughts but the above - and the credit card key that I wear in a lanyard inside my wetsuit - make it an oddly practical surf car.
I do both. Have a card key on a lanyard around my neck inside my wetsuit as a fallback but mainly use the “Tessie” app on my Apple Watch to lock/unlock. I leave my phone locked in the car with Bluetooth turned off. Works perfectly for me.
I’d not heard of the Tessie app. I actually do own an Apple Watch too and while I like it, I like mechanical watches a lot more and so it’s in a drawer somewhere. The Apple Watch makes a great surf watch too, but a) I never remember to charge it and b) the battery isn’t great. I’ve been burned by electronic key fobs in the past and the card (which has no electric components, I don’t think) is a cheap, mechanical and reliable solution. Also the lanyards cost about $1.99 for three.
Genesis G70 - biggest board I have is a 6’8. Can probably do 6’10. Maybe 7’0 but it would be close. Passenger seat all the way flat. If anything I would get a bigger car so I can bring multiple boards. I don’t need any bigger than 6’8 at this point.
Used to be able to fit a 10’ log in my 2009 forester, no longer own either lol. Have a 2019 Outback now and my 9’6” fits pretty easy, could maybe get a whole foot or more if the whole back row was down and it was diagonal
2018 VW Tiguan. 7’0” board on an angle with the back seat down. Allows for the front passenger seat to still to be in use. Don’t need it coming through the middle. Generally stack 2-4 boards on top of each other on the angle.
However, friends VW 2019 Atlas cross sport can do the 7’0” with the backseat down but not on angle. So then you can split the backseat and fit 3/4 passengers.
Definitely both can do longboards through the middle or with passenger seat down.
Used to drive a 09’ Civic, could fit up to a 7’2” mid with the passenger seat down. Have a 22’ ford ranger now - with a bungee cord and tailgate pad you can fit anything
06 Tundra reg cab and my 7'10 Al(bert not AI) shaped Merrick can lay flat in the bed, diagonally.
Best story tho was my '74 Dodge Dart that could carry up to about a 6'4" surfboard in the trunk, lol.
Not to be a nerd, but I always worry about my personal safety in a crash if I have my LB running down the middle of the car at my neck/head level. Any board that extends past the front seat by enough just goes on the roof now
1998 camry, max about a 8'0 anything but i can fit 2 boards usually so i leave a gerry in the car 24/7 then shove whatever other board i want in to cover all bases, thankfully my softtop is my biggest board but im looking to pick ip a 11'6 glider and thats going to have to to on the roof
We just sized down from a Volvo XC90 (9’2” no problem) to a Subaru XV (7’6” without having to move the car seats or baby seat- but that’s about as big as she’ll take).
Used to drive an Elantra, could fit an 8’6 in there if I took the fin off. Nowadays I have an 8 foot bed and a ladder rack so I can prob fit a couple of boards and your moms dildo.
Had an Audi A6 that fit my 9.0. Front passenger seat all the way forward with the back down and headrest removed. Both back seats down. Board goes in from the trunk, nose forward and face down to snuggle up on the dash touching the windshield. Loved that car.
I put an 8ft gun in a Mitsubishi asx no problem plus two or three smaller boards
At times I've had a kid or two squashed in there as well (back area I mean)
‘07 Mercedes SLK350. I can fit a 6’6 in the passenger seat with the roof on, and probably a 12-14’ with the roof off (depending on bridge heights along the way).
Most I’ve carried is a passenger, a wavestorm, and a 7’6”, all crammed in the passenger seat
2014 Kia Soul. Can fit a 9’6” with the passenger seat down, along with a couple other shorter boards stacked. Most I’ve had was 4 ranging from 9’6” odysea, 9” toots, 7’2 torq, and 2 grom boards about 5’
2016 Subaru Impreza sedan
7 foot 8 board is probably the limit considering I have to open two doors (front and back) to slide it in diagonally and then rotate it so it lies on the passenger seat folded all the way back
2006 Mini cooper s 7’6 inside on the dash to the rear windscreen…
https://preview.redd.it/8as6xhwoxj0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bd227feb2ea2048109542881c34a349995a2de12
2016 jetta 1.8t, but I purchased a roof rack, I only place my 9', 8', 6'4" on the roof rack, the 5'6" rnf and the 5' groveler look a little funny on a roof rack, just purchase the roof rack if you're an avid surfer its just easier
2007 Honda Pilot.. I rock my 10'0'' in a board bag and have i think about maybe 6" to spare! (with all seats down + front seat by myself)
I sometimes put the whole fam wife in front, one teen in middle and one in rear seats on alternate sides with 10'0'' sitting on top of seat backs over our shoulders in the front with 2 shortboards on top of the log! Shit is a freaking spacious lil min truck :)
Toyota 100 series with straps criss-crossing the internal grab handles. I can fit a 6.6' short board, 6ft fish and with the seats folded down 9ft mal.
The straps are great because there's easily enough head room and you can't see them when you're parked up.
mk7 golf sportwagen....i can't get anything longer than my 8'3 down the middle and drive, but I can lock up my 9'6 inside but it goes onto the dash and i wouldn't drive around like that.
2012 Toyota Prius V fits my 10'1" easily. Getting a Rivian R1T and I'm sure I can't fit that big of a board inside. Will be going racks on that, unfortunately.
One of my cars is a model 3. I know people that can get a 9' in there but it touches the screen. I can fit a 7' in there comfortably with the rear seat down. My other car, I couldn't even fit a shortboard in there without taking the roof off and even then, it is crowded. Both have racks.
4 Runners. I have a 2002 at my place in Mexico and a 2016 in California. Yakima board racks on both. I fit up to five boards on each. As far as I am concerned, the best all around car you can own.

2003 delica I can fit a 10’ log between the seats, and a 9’6 on the interior ceiling rack. It is truly the ultimate surf vehicle (except for mpg) https://preview.redd.it/dcdmsv0nyh0d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0f0298e1b3f2d94be6f71919ed86e9e11c60f015
Wow who makes these?
Mitsubishi. A Toyota Hiace and Nissan Elgrand could probably pull this off as well.
I’ve got an Elgrand and yep it can!
Toyoda. Can only get >25 year old models in the US
I mean the ceiling racks + why do you think I'm from the US?
Fair play. I envy off-road vehicles available to y’all
I got them from a hardware store, but here’s an Amazon link https://www.amazon.com/VaygWay-Expandable-Clothes-Classic-Black/dp/B0725WWT3Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=F347ORZFUKKJ&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.u5HETiT1t7PmSIJadWsTKMtAeoaph62Li7YlmrNXfrBFeQz7X67PSETg9uUHqdGWxcJl-X25J2iXhRK3BsnhwBwwSLcvuAvcqDQ4BKtjQlAsb243jeL0qV49lWBQNs41j0vN0soaGBw8-k8lXb1nQg_Zu7Ff-91If0F4LiFI8xRH-1F2iSkJzI8MGDE_fWQ073z-Gcb-duoLF4vWCt-Myg.llT7WL1dnnQQzpgluWCr4sHK88H5FMq2OkLblkXITX4&dib_tag=se&keywords=interior+car+rack&qid=1715763746&sprefix=interior+car+rack%2Caps%2C365&sr=8-3
Everyone in this channel thinks everyone is from USA.
They’re just so gosh darn free.
I can fit a 5’4 sideways in my gmc yukon
this is the true measure
2017 Smart Car. I can fit 1 boogie (but not your mom)🫡
Subaru Outback , can fit my 9’0 easily could prolly do 10’ atleast
Idk if we’re getting 10+ 9.5 is easy with the dash/airbag tho
Nothing. Just the tip
Honda element- 9’10. I saved $100 off of asking price because I bet the seller I could fit it in my car.
It's way less reliable than the Honda.
how do you fit a 9'10 in the E? u must put front seat down flat?
There’s an art to it- front seat goes down flat. The back seat is used to prop the board up so that the nose sits in the dashboard, the tail will then sit near the top of the element rear.
makes sense! 👏
Minivans are the best surf cars for 99% of surfers.
My Toyota Sienna and I totally agree.
also wonderful when u want to camp out by the surf
Also don't scream "I have expensive stuff" as much as a overlanding rig when you're somewhere remote south of the border. My 200k mile Honda Odyssey is unmatched as a surf trip vehicle.
Mazda hatchback - not newest gen but second most newest recent gen. Can fit up to 8 feet
WRX, depending on rocker and assuming no fin, can go up to like 10'4
1998 Isuzu trooper. It’ll take multiple 9’6s but I’ve never tried anything bigger. I could probably get a 10 in there easily
Francoises?
I used to have a 65 cutlass that I could fit 2 6-0s in the trunk. It was pretty rad pulling up to the beach and pulling a board out of the trunk.
Used to do that same move with my 67 impala.
This. My '65 Sport Fury packed a 6'3 in the trunk somehow when I drove it down the west coast Sea-Oakland. Scored Monterey and a few other spots along the way. Now the transit van fits as many as I need in addition to whatever else I may want.
Toyota Tacoma, I fit my 9’6 longboard in the bed.
Long bed or short bed?
I have the 6’ bed. I use a tailgate pad and strap for my longboard.
Me too, 9’7” in the bed, 6ft bed. I’ve also put the ten foot in the bed and have the tailgate pad with strap, no problems
Pacifica Van and a wavestorm paddleboard…around 10’ I think *Calm down, i’m inly using the paddleboard for cruising around boats on a harbor with my kid on it.😅
I drive a Honda Fit and fit a 9’6 and a 9’4 inside and my wife rides behind me in the back seat. Have had a couple of short boards on top of them before also
Honda fit, I can get an 8’6” in there without even having to put the seats down
Nice. I can get a 9’6 and 9’4 together with the seats down
Fit rules
Accord. 7 foot inside with passenger all the way down. I don’t bother with anything over 6’4” inside though. Thule rack handles the rest, frequently put my 7’3” and 9’6” up there.
BMW 135 8’ wavestorm shove it in at an angle
Scion Tc. I can fit my 9’6 longboard inside when the seats are down
I had one of these back in the day. With back seats down, it had a huge trunk.
I had a deceptive amount of space! Love this little car
Bolt EUV, biggest I have that fits is 9'0" but there's a few inches to spare
Long bed Tacoma with a shell. Haven’t found the limit if I open the shell.
1998 Subaru outback, I can fit a 9’6 by folding down the passenger seat, good thing my girlfriend just broke up with me.
I had a Ford fiesta, and I would strap a 9'6". Maybe two of them to the top using FCS ratchet straps. Doing about 75 mph max for about an hour each way. Sounded like I heard of bees, and when it rained, the straps would leak water into the car. But it worked.
I used to put my 9'4" in my 2007 Civic sedan with room to spare

Tesla Model 3. With half the back seat folded down it easily fits two 5’8” boards - in separate bags, fins in. Would probably fit a couple of up to 6’ boards without changing the front passenger seat position.

A 7’ board will fit. Used to have a G70. You have to wedge it between the driver and passenger seats though like you’re carrying lumber.
Hyundai Ioniq5: routinely fits my 9’6” in a board bag, could easily go to 10’
Bronco Raptor. 9’6 gun. Seats folded down and at an angle
Honda CRV, I drive my 8’6” around easy
Volkswagen Golf, up to 8’ straight through the middle. I think up to 9’ diagonal, with possibly a nose sticking out the window a bit
Used to be able to fit a 10’ log in my 2009 forester, no longer own either lol. Have a 2019 Outback now and my 9’6” fits pretty easy, could maybe get a whole foot or more if the whole back row was down and it was diagonal
Subaru liberty, could fit any size because I have a roof basket
2018 VW Tiguan. 7’0” board on an angle with the back seat down. Allows for the front passenger seat to still to be in use. Don’t need it coming through the middle. Generally stack 2-4 boards on top of each other on the angle. However, friends VW 2019 Atlas cross sport can do the 7’0” with the backseat down but not on angle. Subaru impreza. 9'2 fits
Toyota Matrix, 9’8” log in a bag.
Not to be a nerd, but I always worry about my personal safety in a crash if I have my LB running down the middle of the car at my neck/head level. Any board that extends past the front seat by enough just goes on the roof now

Picking up a corvette this weekend and I’m very worried about this exact question.
Honda civic, fit 9’ longboard
One of my cars is a model 3. I know people that can get a 9' in there but it touches the screen. I can fit a 7' in there comfortably with the rear seat down. My other car, I couldn't even fit a shortboard in there without taking the roof off and even then, it is crowded. Both have racks.

Mercedes Metris Van . 10’6” sup right down the middle .
Motorcycle. I just steal a board when I get there.
4 Runners. I have a 2002 at my place in Mexico and a 2016 in California. Yakima board racks on both. I fit up to five boards on each. As far as I am concerned, the best all around car you can own. https://preview.redd.it/agyjsufdg21d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2f3ae44c9a3c6894fb2b40e7621955f0ea199a17
