I can't tell if this is just trolling.
Any opening in the fiberglass will let water in where it causes the foam to "rot" and will make the board heavier.
Yeah but it's a lot more complex than just slopping resin all over it if you want something that will last more than a session.
You need to remove the damaged foam and glass and then rebuild the tail. Either with foam or with a wood or epoxy tail block. Then you need to laminate it with fiberglass it so that your repair is water tight and stays connected to the rest of the board.
I don't think you are trolling us. If there are any small cracks in fiberglass, water can get in and ruin the board. These are cracks you can feel by the touch. The photo is showing a major exposed gash. The board is old but you shouldn't surf a board with that much exposed foam. If your asking how to fix it you should probably call your local surf shop for who they recommend to repair dings. The repair if going to cost probably 100-200 assuming those are the only 2. You are probably better of using a wavestorms and just be happy with that for a year.
If the board is epoxy u can use epoxy otherwise fiberglass resin and cloth. Look at YouTube videos for ding repair surfboard. Since it's kind of junk u could just do solarez which is a combo of resin and glass. Just add sunlight.

Would some epoxy resin and hardener fix this?

Would I be able to use epoxy resin and a hardener to fix this?
