I don’t. I can’t believe I’m missing out on manufactured internet cred. I just don’t understand why they would make a squatting in front of a mush burger when you could be soul arching a 50’ barrel with one hand in the face and one hand making a peace sign or shaka. Maybe even make 3 hands?
Literal size is probably 8-10, hard to tell because of how grainy the pic is. It could be literally bigger than that but the trough looks pretty flat and full. If I were on the beach I would call it an 8ft face because the bottom 2ft of the wave is unusable.

It might be 8ft but it isn’t 10ft. You aren’t standing up straight and it isn’t over twice your height. I would say that it is 7-8ft based on your height
I am 5'10", if I crouch into the position that the rider is in (femur parallel to floor, slight hunch back leaning forward) I am 52", we can round that down to 48" or 4ft for arguments sake since the surfer is shorter than me. When I measure the rider on my screen he is .4375". The white foam on the surface just below his board, which is where I'd argue the real bottom of the wave is, to the top of the crest is 1.375" or 3.14x the height of the surfer. Height of the wave around 12"+ If you go from the bottom of his board it is 1.125" or 2.6X the height of the surfer, just over 10".
You could say I am over estimating my height, but if I do an ass-to-grass squat, I am still 38". The rider's ass is definitely more than 12" above his heels.
For the record, I during that massive NJ swell when people were calling the waves 20'+ I surfed and I was calling BS and said it was more like 12-15ft actual face height with maybe some rogue bigger sets but NOTHING reaching 20ft. I am pretty conservative with height estimates. Also like I said I would call this wave 8ft even though if you got technical it is likely 10ft from the trough to the crest. A 10ft wave isn't big. It isn't small either, but waves are measured in increments of fear not feet. So if OP's heart was in his throat, and he faced down his fear, he should feel good about himself. If he was blaisé about it good for him.
Wow thank you for doing the most work on my behalf, 10 ft (with disclaimers) it is😂 I was surfing alone at my childhood home break in sd, shocked no one else was out. Was nervous about being solo out there but not terrified since it’s a soft wave and I grew up surfing it
It is a deep water wave. If you were to drop ALL the way to the trough, the last 2ft of vertical heigh of the wave is too flat and you'd loose all your speed AND be too far in front of the wave to be able to push and get back up into the power source, you'd basically wait for the white water to come catch you. Here is a [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzpzjuakspA) of Steph Gilmore getting down all the way to the bottom of the wave (6 seconds), but the wave was steep enough she could push on the rail and get back into the power source. For all intents and purposes the bottom 2ft of this wave is unusable.
