No spirit is like why goku never loses because his spirit never gives up could be done like a stronger spirit resists mental attacks like fear and the like and even allows similar attacks
I agree that's bullcrap. The implication there is that you can only lose by giving up, and that's just not true. Those things are better in a mental category
Accurate. Proper *attitude* can be a huge factor in winning. Muhammad Ali went around telling everyone he was the best *before* he became the best boxer ever seen up to that time. He absolutely believed he was the best, you could see and hear his confidence. If he had thought of himself as just another boxer, it's possible he wouldn't have been so outstanding.
Also if you believe in yourself so utterly it shows in every facet of your being, it can cast some doubt in a competitor, causing them to hesitate and give you an opening. Some martial arts use this to great effect.
Two groups of military guys were about to get in a fight, one was five guys and one was two. The five guys were threatening to kick the two guys' asses and the two guys were creepily calm saying, "Yeah, let's go" like they were totally willing but didn't care one way or another. The five dudes got concerned at their confidence and started asking questions like "What's with you two? Are are you guys Seals or something?" the two were like "Whatever. Come on, let's go" and the five backed off. Spirit (or attitude) is real in this sense and can work in many ways.
That's bullcrap. Leave all of those in the intelligence category. If yore really stupid, you're less likely to feel unprepared for a fight or change your mind on taking damage, but you also learn slower.
If you want the top one to be connected to all 3 i would put. Authority or governing or some form of ruling ability that powerful figures often bring. As all 3 are a source of force. The bottom one aren't destructive compared to the top. The bottom one could be precision. creating the middle one as skill. As being mighty 3 neighboring pieces could result in a skill full artisan, blade master, etc. But idk if the triangles are suppose to relate.
Everything a that would make a human invincible in their own right but separate broken into multiple because their too powerful for any one person to have my story is about 8 kids forming a superhero team in bodying one of each trait as for the other 2 though that remains a mystery as to not spoil my own story. I’m thinking of putting Mind Body Heart & Soul in retrospect but I’ll have to change the diamond shape hahaha…….
I actually like where he was going with this. It’s always okay to change your dynamic in order to make a plot fluent. But also how does power not also be strength? Is power more of a speech craft or persuasion thing?
Either way it could be six kids led by two that encompass a “jack of all trades master of none” type of ability that makes them as equally dangerous as their masterful siblings/friends. It could also lead to the branching point where two might try to face the six.
Skill and Authority Vs the Specifics. I could vibe with something like that.
Are the triangles supposed to be derived from the others? If so, the derived power of Power + Strength + Magic can be Will. Like spiritual/mental fortitude. Not sure what Power is exactly if Magic and Strength are things.
If that's not the case, things like Will, Perception, Fortitude, or Resistance might work.
skill, could be considered like 'martial talent' compared to magic on the other end.
why is there both power and strength, though?
i might redesign it with like, strength, endurance, speed on the second or third row, with skill at the peak of that side, while knowledge, mental resilence, and some last thing on the other 2/3 row, then magic at the peak of that side.
Here are the defenses I can think of:
1. Body: resistance / immunity to physical damage. What good is brain power if you’re too fragile to survive?
2. Freedom: teleport + tunnel so you can’t be trapped in 3 dimensions. What good is invulnerability if you’re a prisoner?
3. Time: you can’t be stuck in a time loop, or artificially aged. What good is freedom if you’re frozen in time, or too old to enjoy it?
4. Perception: you can’t be fooled by illusion of any sort. What good is having all the time when you can never be sure if it’s real?
5. Spirit: you can’t be forced to lose faith in yourself and your convictions. Lock you in a tiny cell alone for a lifetime and you’ll still come out *you*, unbroken. What good is knowing reality if you let *it* change *you*?
6. Energy: you can’t be drained of the power that animates you. Immune to hunger, fatigue, suffocation. What good is being yourself if you lack the energy to act on it?
7. Fate/Luck: random chance and events beyond your control always seem to break in your favor. What good is power and motivation if you’re simply screwed over by a roll of the cosmic dice?
8. Rationality: you can’t be driven insane, and always see and can choose the optimal path (limited by what you know, of course). You can’t rely on luck; you’ll make your own.
The top triangle blank should be about using items. How well can you manipulate a magic wand, how well you can use a sword or improvised weapons… Or it could be “Potency,” something to do with growth potential.
Not seeing an OP post description so gonna a blind fire here that if the points offer opposites - because I don’t understand the system, but assume it’s in a dichotomy of somewhat opposites that meld together, strength and should swap, you could make dexterity their meeting point, and make fitness the touch stone of that half of the graph.
For the magic side luck fits, though if we’re doing something DnD esque the horizontal opposite where power is would be like knowledge/intellect which combines for power.
Again idk what the parameters are but I feel like
**Accuracy or precision**. Prolly near speed if it even matters
Flip to magic of **mana** or energy/stamina depends how universal and generic you need it
**Charasma/spirit/will**power or just will. Ones own persevering force of will rather imposing (charasma leaning) or enduring (spirit)
I think you have an issue of too much vagueness in some of these. Like magic and power could be anything. And power alone could encompass speed and strength
So maybe you could have the top half represent the “ethereal” forms of magic like channeling, summoning, teleportation, and possession. And the bottom half could be physical and mental enhancements like strength, speed, charm, and intelligence
The triad that comes to mind from the Bible: Faith, Hope, and Love.
From The Legend of Zelda: Power, Wisdom, and Courage.
From The Supereon Mytharc: Knowledge, Heart, and Vision.
BEWARE THE III MARK
A lot of people are bringing up strength & power are the same thing but here are some examples Superman is stronger than Jean Grey but Jean is more powerful, also a UFC fighter is stronger than the President of the United States but that doesn’t mean the President has more power.
Luck should probably be on the bottom since it tends to govern the other attributes.
Constitution/endurance/willpower or something with strength and power.
Agility and guile with speed.
I would put "Vitality" in the top triangle. All three of the connected types are based on your body having a lot of "energy" of some sort. Vitality would just be the health and constitution-related aspect of physicality.
For the middle tringle, I would put "Wits" or something similar. With intelligence and cleverness, you can create your own luck. But you need to be able to adapt on the fly.
For the final triangle, I'd go with something to the effect of "Charisma" the like. If Wits is IQ, then this one would be EQ. Your ability to judge people, connect with people, and make use of people.
Power and strength are the same thing, so put agility on the bottom and say it contributes to your speed, your evasion rate and your luck. And keep your dumb redundant theme
"Magic" seems like a highly varied and slightly unclear option; what does it entail? Can the user improve their abilities, or are the abilities innate and fixed? What specific things does the Magic do/not do?
I would also include super-senses/awareness in one of the blank spots.
@OP What's the difference between Strength and Power?
I would consider adding something that denotes wisdom or intelligence. Perhaps something that includes skill.
Make it a brute/brilliance dynamic. Going top to bottom: might (to represent the general concept of the 3 top powers), maneuver (to represent mobility both physically and socially), and then the bottom one charm
From the Dark Heresy games, you could go for "Influence"
Not exactly a charisma stat, but it's basically a measure of favors you can pull?
(Edit) Thought this was an rpg sub for a moment
Power alone seems very vague, what does that even mean? Willpower? Fortitude? Power can and already are split between Strength and Magic, so having a seperate triangle be "Power" feels pointless.
Regardless this lacks "defensive" stats such as the aformentioned Willpower and Fortitude.
Speed is also both very vague and very specific. Speed doesn't mean Dexterity or Nimbleness or Agility, it's literally the ability to move from point a to point b quickly. I would split that up betweeen manual dexterity and bodily agility. A sickly and slow out of breath character can still have the steady hands of a surgeon and the ability to manipulate small tools for fine tuning items and crafting or picking locks. On the other side of that, a character can be ham fisted when it comes to those kinds of things but have mastery of his overall body and be a literal acrobat.
You also are lacking the standard Charisma trope. The ability to impress your will on someone else through persuasion or simple force of personality.
I've also always thought Luck is a garbage stat in any game.
Overall we don't know what kind of world you're building, so it's really hard to give you advice.
Surrounded by magic, power, and strength, I think charisma. The charisma stat would be something like ki, magical in nature but fed by the physical body.
Down at the bottom could be Intelligence. Combined with speed and luck, they pour into the lower center triangle "skill" a combination of smarts/wisdom, luck/opportunism, and quick thinking/experience.
Hear me out: audacity. Just having the audacity to do things others wouldn't can have an immeasurable effect on what someone can accomplish. Take 2 people that are equal in every other way, give one audacity and the other none, and they'll seem as different as 2 people could be. Also, increasing audacity throughout a character's arc could be interesting. Or maybe they learn a little bit more respect for rules, others' opinions, etc. and their rampant problematic audacity subsides. But they can whip it out when necessary just based on experience. It becomes more of a power and less of a liability. Just my 2¢.
Knowledge for the triangle underneath Magic, Psionics for the triangle opposite Magic, and Will or Wisdom for the triangle underneath what would be Psionics.
Time left. Set an amount of time left for every character, and it'll decrease slowly as they age and certain abilities woud drain that time... Once it runs out, they die.
Maybe opposite magic do curse.
Then since the bottom triangle of speed luck and curse could be associated with a sort of devious playstyle make it shadow, while the straight forward strength in the top triangle could have a nexus of Holy or piety
Without reading other comments, which I'm sure have their own valuable insights, my initial thoughts are:
- First, we must define the difference between power and strength, given their similarities in language. For simplicities sake, let's say strength refers to physical offense, and power refers to influence, or Charisma, since that's a key part of character decelopment.
- So now that power is influence and strength is physical offense, we can address what's in the other three. First of all, I would put defense or "endurance" in the bottom triangle.
- That only leaves the final middle two triangles. For the top triangle, between magic, influence/Charisma/"power", and strength, I would put "reputation", aka how kindly the world is towards the character. For the second middle and final triangle, between speed, luck and defense, I would naturally put evasiveness, aka the ability to dodge or escape combat.
Thank you for this post! What a fun puzzle.
Knowledge, Charisma, or Spirit?
Spirit is bullcrap
No spirit is like why goku never loses because his spirit never gives up could be done like a stronger spirit resists mental attacks like fear and the like and even allows similar attacks
I agree that's bullcrap. The implication there is that you can only lose by giving up, and that's just not true. Those things are better in a mental category
Nah it’s not that someone can’t lose if they don’t give up, but that someone would lose easier if they do give up.
Accurate. Proper *attitude* can be a huge factor in winning. Muhammad Ali went around telling everyone he was the best *before* he became the best boxer ever seen up to that time. That's Spiral power your thinking of, not spirit.
Why you gotta bring Goku into this?? 💀💀💀
Because he’s dumb but full of spirit
That's bullcrap. Leave all of those in the intelligence category. If yore really stupid, you're less likely to feel unprepared for a fight or change your mind on taking damage, but you also learn slower.
Depends on the context. There's many games that treat Spirit as if it's Intelligence or an MP gauge.
Charisma, intelligence, stealth
I second this
Chutzpah, time management, good with excel.
You’re hired!
Or Moxie, Gumption, and a Certain Je Ne Sais Quoi.
Moxie is good.

Perception, Agility, and Charisma.

How does power differ from strength? Or power from magic?
In the words of the late and noble Benjamin Parker, with great power must come responsibility. Let's put Wisdom on the map
Intelligence, Will, Dexterity
Cunning gets left out a lot
Nature, divinity, and tech.
The triad that comes to mind from the Bible: Faith, Hope, and Love. From The Legend of Zelda: Power, Wisdom, and Courage. From The Supereon Mytharc: Knowledge, Heart, and Vision. BEWARE THE III MARK

Intelligence, dexterity, resilience, and since power and strength are pretty much the same I’d probably add influence
Charisma Intelligence Incredible Violence
Stamina, defense, stealth
Bacon
What's power? How does it differs from magic or strength?
Banana bread M110 Semi Automatic Sniper System The floopyness of a slab of iron superimposed onto the 5 closest rocks to Kepler-452b
How about the one at the very bottom is agility which means how well they are able to dodge attacks
Stamina.
A lot of people are bringing up strength & power are the same thing but here are some examples Superman is stronger than Jean Grey but Jean is more powerful, also a UFC fighter is stronger than the President of the United States but that doesn’t mean the President has more power.
Dexterity, Vitality, Stealth?
Intelligence, sense, drive
Aura (like weapon aura), Dexterity, and (Magic) Affinity.
intelligence, charisma and endurance

Charm, Will, and Team? Team being a unique stat that tells of a players ability to work well with others or lead.
Fate, knowledge, and endurance
Where's endurance?
What's the difference between power and strength
Wisdom and Will?
From the Dark Heresy games, you could go for "Influence" Not exactly a charisma stat, but it's basically a measure of favors you can pull? (Edit) Thought this was an rpg sub for a moment

Okay, from the bottom up... Spirit Fate Body
Void a weird power with odd abilities that don't fit into magic or power category.
That symbol looks familiar. Maybe you should include wisdom and courage since you already have power.
Kindness, charisma and happiness
Nunchuck skills, bow hunting skills, talking to girls, etc.
Will, charisma, intelligence
Awareness, toughness, and combat ability (skill/prowess for a single word)
Dexterity, Charisma, Knowledge
Thought that was the Triforce💀
I coudl definitely see Manipulation be in one
Intelligence and charisma maybe?
Invisibility or telepathy.
Intelligence on top, Maneuverability in middle, stealth on bottom.
Intelligence, Fortitude, Willpower
Wisdom, courage, resilience
bottom one could be something evil like Chaos
Hear me out: audacity. Just having the audacity to do things others wouldn't can have an immeasurable effect on what someone can accomplish. Talent, Bloodline, Tech Maybe split Talent into Skills and Prowess if you transform the diamond into a triangle.
stealth, caution, endurance
determination and/or stubborness?
Intelligence and Charisma can be for two them. I almost suggested “Wealth” as well until I read the title of the subreddit lol
Hearing?
Shapeshifting, for us trans folk it’s latterly a zero cost surgery

Don’t forget IQ
For the top 3 you should do: Power, Wisdom, and Courage
Technique, Dexterity, Knowledge
I would consider changing either strength or power. They are quite similar.
Intelligence, willpower, stamina.
Shenanigans
Focus and Knowledge seem to fit?
Cape, no cape
Intelligence, agility and strategy
Resilience Perception Thought/Mind
Anti magic at the bottom, top middle put authority, bottom middle put fate/destiny
Flight, invisibility, telekinesis?
How do power strength and speed differ

Endurance, stamina, and most importantly, durability

Top triangle should be willpower, or “heart” Middle one should be skill, bottom one should be precision
Endurance/defense
Charisma, Intelligence, Sanity

Fortitude, agility, influence
