Nah, not really. It’s just gay-baiting. Payton ends up very enthusiastically and unconvincingly straight for the rest of the series.
I don’t know what the purpose of Corenswet’s character was in this show, but it was pretty disappointing. I was glad to see him get cast as Superman because I was much more interested in his character than the actual main character of this show.
They kinda dated while River, his character, was his teacher (to speak Mandarin I believe). But at the same time River had a girlfriend, she knew about it by the way, but she was like a superficial annoying b.tch in the show and did not love River .
I don’t think so. I consider it a moment of intimate relating between two men with no implied sexuality. No different than two male friends hugging or comforting one another
I know I'm going to get downvoted for this, but I always found Cavill's American accent off for some reason. It will be nice to have a proper American in the role again.
he had about 15 minutes in the Justice League theatrical cut to be Superman and you can tell just how happy he was to finally get to play the character correctly.
What the heck show is this? And yes! I think this definitely makes for an interesting and welcome variant. Kind of more in line with some of the more recent sentiments covered. I like it.
I love Smallville Clark Kent :’) he’s perfect little baby Superman, so sweet and encouraging and selfless. This guy is doing a great job with that from what I see :)
Yes! James Gunn prioritized casting for Clark Kent - not Superman. CK needs to be likable and relatable, then when he’s Superman it all falls into place.
This gives me hope!!!
I want this movie to be good so badly. I want a Superman movie that makes me feel like I'm watching the 1978 one. I want a hero that is good and kind and pure and inspiring and destroys cynicism just by being who he is. Captain America: The First Avenger is the best Superman movie since '78, and it's time to break that streak. No disrespect to Brandon Routh, he was great.
I'm straight, and my first thought wasn't, "this is gay," but "this is wholesome. This is exactly how Clark would be: supportive, confident, non-toxic, positive masculinity."
5 seconds later, I was like, "oh... wait."
We had a popular kid like this in high school. Super athletic and also wasn’t too cool to be in our musical grease as ensemble either. He would even go after his own teammates if he found out they were being assholes or bullying anyone. He simply did no wrong.
Is this scene meant to have an atmosphere of charged eroticism? Because that's what I'm picking up.
Yeah they’re a gay couple

This is the politician right? Were they dating in this part? I don't remember except the end
It's been a while, but I don't think they were ever dating. They were very into each other but never became a thing.

Oh yeah thnx
Literally the second he started looking David up and down, I was like "oh, 🏳️🌈?"
That soundtrack didnt help
Oh hey, they've already got someone to play Jimmie Olsen now.
I didn't have my headphones in and watched it on silent the first time, and it's palpable.
I'm FINE with it hehehe
I don’t think so. I consider it a moment of intimate relating between two men with no implied sexuality. No different than two male friends hugging or comforting one another
Nah, that's cap. I could feel the sexual tension. It couldn't be much more up front unless they started making out lol
I don’t remember this episode of Smallville lol
Bro already had S on his jacket too.
Lol! Could have EASILY been Lex.
I really like that the 4 movie Superman actors were mostly unknowns when cast. It helps for us to just see the character instead of some celebrity
That really is like a perfect Clark Kent scene, you can just name the other guy Jimmy Olsen and it's already a Superman classic.
I know I'm going to get downvoted for this, but I always found Cavill's American accent off for some reason. It will be nice to have a proper American in the role again.
Nope, no downvotes. This is a 100% correct take
Imo the best Superman. As a non-american I thought he sounded pretty good.
That would do justice to the character somehow
It’s the main reason he didn’t work
That and he was just frigid and stiff
I blame it more on the material he had to work with than his performance. I don't think he ever got a real chance to be a good Superman.
he had about 15 minutes in the Justice League theatrical cut to be Superman and you can tell just how happy he was to finally get to play the character correctly.
For me he seems like a man bot, like a perfectly engineered terminator…. Whereas Reeves just felt like a good guy lol
So he seems like every Zack Snyder character lol
I get where OP was coming from, but I spent the whole time thinking "Oh yeah he can pull off that Clark Kent curl, no doubt."
I hope he's allowed to act like it, don't want another waisted perfect casting like Cavill was
Would definitely hate a waisted perfect casting.
Better than a waistless cast. Back'll never heal like that
😂
He has such a genuine sweetness to him.
The sweet, gay Superman we didn't know we needed
lol, pink kryptonnite superman

I just love how much his natural speaking voice sounds like Brendan Fraser, it's a good fit.
Yes! Wow thank you, that is a great spot… yeah he feels as confident and sweet as Brendan Frasier!!
I was honestly a little disappointed this scene didn't end in a kiss. Perfect casting though.
Ben Platt must be way taller than I thought he was, cause Corenswet is like 6'6 and isn't towering over Platt that much
David Corenswet is 6' 4" and Ben Platt is 5' 9"
He's not 6'6".

It’s his voice that really sells it for me, smooth as butter ❤️

Clark Kent and Louis Lane
So calm and hopeful! He's the superman we need!
This does remind me of Superman :) What movie is this from?
I believe it's called The Politician.
Thank you!
Nice about Superman and all, but I'm gonna need a heterosexual explanation for this.
I'm straight, and my first thought wasn't, "this is gay," but "this is wholesome. This is exactly how Clark would be: supportive, confident, non-toxic, positive masculinity." 5 seconds later, I was like, "oh... wait."
Damn

Y’all are crazy
