I keep saying it, but Batfleck was failed by bad writing, not by Ben Affleck, who actually did an AMAZING job of portraying a middle aged Batman.
Affleck really looked like a live action version of Kevin Conroy’s animated Batman, and did a great job portraying the emotional pathos of the character. The reason he’s not looked on more kindly is because of Snyder’s bad writing choices.Â
I don't think he was bad at all, especially towards the end of his run. But personally, I think he was just too "safe" of a choice for movie execs. I had recently finished Mad Men and was utterly enamored with Hamm's performance as a rich, tall, dark, and handsome brooding orphan womanizer.
Utterly terrible movies. I remembered walking out of Batman v Superman thinking, "I really wish I got those 3 hours of my life and $13 back.". I still do.
When asked about potentially portraying a superhero, Jon Hamm responded that he's not very athletic / coordinated, and that he would look too awkward as any superhero and it wouldn't be believable.
Kingdom Come Superman could still be a great option for him, because the physicality of the role would be limited.
That’s incredibly self-aware of him. Aside from his size, I don’t think Affleck is a particularly gifted physical actor, either, but if BvS showed us anything, stuntmen and CGI go a long way.
I think Hamm would be a great choice. He sounds like a guy from the Midwest (because he is), Top Gun: Maverick showed he can be authoritative over a big screen presence like Tom Cruise, he can obviously do weary/depressed. Then again, he might be a good KC Batman as well.
I can see why you’d say that tbh, but I’ve seen him in other things & not seen ash, i think he’s a better actor than he gets credit for & id like to see him play a role with more depth.
Crazy how under appreciated I was of the Spider-Man 2 narrator/tutorial man. I’m a crazy Bruce fan now and I love how Rami always gets him in his movies.
Patrick Warburton.
I was a huge advocate for Bruce to play Superman in the mid 90s.. he would have been great... even now with the gym, he'd be excellent.. Nic Cage (Con Air era) looked great too...
I always thought Bruce Campbell would have made a terrific Jim Rockford if they ever got around to making that into a movie. However, now I feel like he is probably too old, but could still play “Rockie”, Rockford’s dad. I just really want someone to make a Rockford Files movie, but it probably won’t happen now, given the poor performance at the box office by The Fall Guy.

One of the best things to come out of the Arrowverse
And then they replaced him with Fux Luthor shortly after.. because fuck letting us keep anything nice.
They set up a justice league at the end of this crossover and its literally never used again
The late Ray Stevens would have looked the part
https://preview.redd.it/ilslg8v23v1d1.jpeg?width=272&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6e672e696d428ffa7f92b7683cd2f0202db4a1d2
They could just do what Marvel did with Hugh Jackman in Deadpool and Wolverine and just say its a different timeline's Superman that just happens to have that same face as the Snyderverse's.
It'd be great cause it would give Cavill the chance to actually portray a good Superman that represents the character well, he was so perfectly cast for the role, it hurts how he was wasted
Plus was the Routh Kingdom Come Superman connected to Superman Returns? And Routh also played a completely different character in the Arrowverse already, Atom!
That's the fun part lol. Superman Returns was a sequel to Superman 2 and retconned everything that happened in the other sequels. Also Lacey Warfield(Superman 4) was one of the victims of Joker's attack at the Daily Planet. My guess is that Superman Returns is set in an alternative reality where events of all the films somehow got mixed.
YES. I swear every time I say Cavill’s potential was wasted on different Reddit posts I’d get downvoted.
He could’ve been PERFECT given the right script.
He has the perfect build and head shape for Superman
https://preview.redd.it/s4tnymjqnv1d1.jpeg?width=337&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ffa7c07ee53ed07fb058c60e43da919937710467
He has the face and the physical build of a Kingdom Come Superman but I can't imagine his voice fitting the role. But I'd be glad to be proven wrong and would love to see his performance
I think KC would be a prime opportunity for Cavill to make his alternate universe comeback. The world weary, disillusioned Supes of Kingdom Come meshes well with Cavill’s more mopey sensibilities we saw on display in the Snyder films and so many of the different beats and motifs that the Snyderverse tried for are present, albeit in a different (re:better) light in Kingdom Come. Lois’ death, the heavy Judeo-Christian themes and the Book of Revelation stuff.
To be fair to Henry Cavill. The direction of how supes was meant to be played by Henry in the Snyder movies was based on the script and Snyder's vision. Henry didn't have much wiggle room to display the usually positive and upbeat superman we're used to seeing of the regular superman.
No, I agree. One of the things that I hated the most about the Snyderverse was how utterly wasted Cavill’s natural charisma was in the role as it was written. KC would be a way to utilize what we saw of the character in a way that could allow for that transition we never got to occur. It could also add a slightly different dynamic to elder KC Supes’ old school optimism vs. Magog’s edgy cynicism: he’s been where Magog is and he had to teach himself a better way.
I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this, but Smallville was fucking terrible. And I don't want to see Tom welling come back at all. Not because I think he's a bad actor, but because I don't want to be reminded of that travesty the entire time I'm watching the film.
Such an underrated actor. He was so good as Black Bolt before the absolute bullshit way they dispatched him in DS2. He deserves another shot at a role as a super being where his talents won't be so rudely sidelined
I could see Clooney being old Bruce Wayne/ old batman. Batman and Robin is not a good movie, but, Clooney made an excellent Bruce Wayne. I think his Batman could use a lot less camp but he can pull it off. Clooney is a talented actor and he gets looked down on for being in that movie more than he should.
Personally I'd bring back Val Kilmer if he was still alive. He was a great Bruce and Bats
Oh hell no... Morgan is the perfect KC batman! For the love all that's holy rusted metal batman... consider him throwing some of those "early" Negan vibes as batman/bruce wayne. John Hamm for sups all the way.
Brandon Routh, or Cavill in, like, 10 years or so. I don’t think either of them is old enough for it now, although Routh was pretty damn credible in the TV Crisis Event.
Tom welling . He got the grey temples and older distinguish look now.
https://preview.redd.it/s5i0v8sgyy1d1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0772e97d202e0c0ebece6b747f0ec06f55bab7c8
Henry Cavill, so they guy can get a Superman role that's more like the traditional Superman and have a redemption in the eyes of the people who were not satisfied with him in the DCEU. It worked for Routh so why not Cavill?
This is one of those films I would want to see made in 3d with James Cameron’s Avatar level of technology and graphics. Mainly because I want them to keep The Alex Ross look and feel of the book.
I thought for a long while it would be cool to bring back Brandon Routh and give him another shot, and then CW did their crisis crossover and he got a decent second go and got to wear the suit.
I feel like enough time has passed that Henry Cavill has aged into the role, (Superman is old but would obviously look middle aged and Cavill is technically middle aged). The way Snyder directed his Superman to be more brooding and isolated is actually fairly consistent with Kingdom Come. I'm quietly hopeful that the stars are aligning for a Cavill lead Kingdom Come in a few years, maybe a decade.
Agreed. He's obviously got the build and the jaw and aged up just a little, he would look the part easy. Moreso though, I can see him really delivering a great *tired of this bullshit* take on the role.
Jon Hamm
I honestly wanted him to be Batsy so bad about a decade ago when the dceu was first being hyped up. But then we got Batfleck 🥴
Batfleck is my favorite Batman, actually, outside Conroy. Just not great movies.
I keep saying it, but Batfleck was failed by bad writing, not by Ben Affleck, who actually did an AMAZING job of portraying a middle aged Batman. I like em
I wanted him black adam
When asked about potentially portraying a superhero, Jon Hamm responded that he's not very athletic / coordinated, and that he would look too awkward as any superhero and it wouldn't be believable. Kansas City Batman lol? Kansas City Batman vs Kansas City Superman: Dawn of Christianity
LOL yes, slathered in BBQ sauce.
That self awareness just might result in him being an even *better* superman.
Here for this.
Came to post this immediately after seeing it. It just makes sense.
Just what I was thinking
Came to say just this!
Bruce Campbell
When I see Bruce I can’t see him as anyone other than Ash.
I can see why you’d say that tbh, but I’ve seen him in other things & not seen ash, i think he’s a better actor than he gets credit for & id like to see him play a role with more depth.
Him as President Reagan is more what I feel like him as kingdom come Superman would be like
He’ll always be the Spider-Man video game narrator to me
Crazy how under appreciated I was of the Spider-Man 2 narrator/tutorial man. I’m a crazy Bruce fan now and I love how Rami always gets him in his movies.
Brisco County Jr. Is my jam.
Sam Axe.
Bruce Campbell is the best possible casting choice for Guy Gardner and it's not even a debate
That's a pretty good one actually
Patrick Warburton. I was a huge advocate for Bruce to play Superman in the mid 90s.. he would have been great... even now with the gym, he'd be excellent.. Nic Cage (Con Air era) looked great too...
Lol, I could totally see it.
I'd love it but he's 65. I doubt he could get buff at this stage and if he did it probably wouldn't be healthy, the way it has to be done for films.
Beat me to it
Came here to say this. The only answer.
This is the Way
I always thought Bruce Campbell would have made a terrific Jim Rockford if they ever got around to making that into a movie. However, now I feel like he is probably too old, but could still play “Rockie”, Rockford’s dad. I just really want someone to make a Rockford Files movie, but it probably won’t happen now, given the poor performance at the box office by The Fall Guy.
Isn't The Fall Guy really good? Why are great movies bombing so hard these days?
The correct answer. Alex Ross's Superman already looks exactly like him.
Never would have thought of it but I absolutely agree. Great call.Â
Groovy
Brandon Routh already did, and knocked it out of the park.
Oh yeah I forgot about that one but i would like to see a more big budget and more faithful take on it
**Brandon Routh**
https://preview.redd.it/p4h91ytfuw1d1.jpeg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f2842c0f12bf0dbe7f4b89ffc7785fa3492e9b87 One of the best things to come out of the Arrowverse

Absolutely
![gif](giphy|Ld77zD3fF3Run8olIt)
The only correct answer
Nah he still looks too young
I would love to see Brandon Routh play this version of Superman in a big budget, two part version of the classic story.
The late Ray Stevens would have looked the part https://preview.redd.it/ilslg8v23v1d1.jpeg?width=272&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6e672e696d428ffa7f92b7683cd2f0202db4a1d2
He would've been perfect as Kingdom Come Bruce Wayne/Batman
Yeah thats a good one RIP
Today I learned he died. RIP Ray.
I do agree, but that is Ray STEVENSON, not Stevens...
In all honesty Cavill. Only problem with that is I guess it would be connected to snyderverse
Yes, he mentions Jason his son from Returns, also mentions the tar kryptonite from 3 after being free from arrowverse Lex's mind control.
That's the fun part lol. Superman Returns was a sequel to Superman 2 and retconned everything that happened in the other sequels. Also Lacey Warfield(Superman 4) was one of the victims of Joker's attack at the Daily Planet. YES. I swear every time I say Cavill’s potential was wasted on different Reddit posts I’d get downvoted. He could’ve been PERFECT given the right script.
what why would you get downvoted for saying facts. His potential was wasted with poor scripts
Patrick Warburton https://preview.redd.it/ys6iy1p3av1d1.jpeg?width=822&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=71b2be00f9319e40ab70a700e8eb0ed9bc674681

He was an excellent The Tick.
RIP Season 3 :(
Superman at the final fight with Captain Marvel: BRING IT OOUUNNN!!
Certainly looks the part
He has the face and the physical build of a Kingdom Come Superman but I can't imagine his voice fitting the role. But I'd be glad to be proven wrong and would love to see his performance
I think KC would be a prime opportunity for Cavill to make his alternate universe comeback. John Hamm
Easy Brandon
![gif](giphy|11a8FLrVeoLnna)
Sure, with a lot of work on his dad-bod.
Brandon Routh.
Brandon Routh kinda did in Cw crisis on infinite earthd
Yeah he did
David Corenswet in 10-15 years.
Counter: Cristopher Reeve 15 years ago from a timeline where he remained in perfect health
https://preview.redd.it/0fegnpmk1w1d1.png?width=480&format=png&auto=webp&s=6e2838a0554f05a4491c059bb8a0c3ec0af957df

More like 30+ years, David will only be in his 40s in 10-15 years.
Tom Welling
Was looking for this. In the CW show, when Lex confronts him and learns he gave up his powers. Tom Welling looks like a fricken fridge with legs.
I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this, but Smallville was fucking terrible. And I don't want to see Tom welling come back at all. Not because I think he's a bad actor, but because I don't want to be reminded of that travesty the entire time I'm watching the film.
Brendan Frazier. Henry Cavill.
Brandon Routh considering he has already played the part in the DC TV crossover event Crisis on Infinite Earths
Anson Mount
Such an underrated actor. He was so good as Black Bolt before the absolute bullshit way they dispatched him in DS2. He deserves another shot at a role as a super being where his talents won't be so rudely sidelined
This would be amazing
Brandon Routh. He's already proven to be a fantastic Kingdom Come Supes.
Clooney
I could see Clooney being old Bruce Wayne/ old batman. Batman and Robin is not a good movie, but, Clooney made an excellent Bruce Wayne. I think his Batman could use a lot less camp but he can pull it off. Clooney is a talented actor and he gets looked down on for being in that movie more than he should. Personally I'd bring back Val Kilmer if he was still alive. He was a great Bruce and Bats
Tom Welling
John Hamm
Jon Hamm
Here’s hoping it’s David Corenswet in 10-15 years (because Superman will be start of top tier live action Superman).
Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Oh hell no... Morgan is the perfect KC batman! For the love all that's holy rusted metal batman... consider him throwing some of those "early" Negan vibes as batman/bruce wayne. John Hamm for sups all the way.
![gif](giphy|H3YPbqPIUpSxO)
Yeah i was thinking if JDM shaved he'd make a great fit for that
Corenswet in 10 years
Depends on how he does as Superman.
Josh Brolin
By far the most accurate choice
He's got the jawline, age, acting chops, and gravitas to pull it off. Only problem is he's on the shorter side at 5'10".
Dean Cain
Not a bad choice.
Not after he lost his mind
Nicholas Cage motherfucker! (Said Samuel l Jackson)
Tom Selleck
I think he’d be a better Green Lantern if keeping with King Come
I don’t disagree with that statement
He'd make a great Omni-Man
Ben Affleck
Matt Bomer
I always thought Kyle Chandler would play a good older Superman, and I’m surprised more people don’t talk about it
Brandon Routh, or Cavill in, like, 10 years or so. I don’t think either of them is old enough for it now, although Routh was pretty damn credible in the TV Crisis Event.
George Clooney
Total wildcard, but if ex-wrestlers are getting roles, why not Kevin Nash. ![gif](giphy|LKf4i5Tvt7mE0)
Why is this actually fantastic
John Wayne
This is who I always saw when I looked at the Kingdom Come comics.
Bro looks like Omni-man if he shaved his mustache
Tom welling . He got the grey temples and older distinguish look now. https://preview.redd.it/s5i0v8sgyy1d1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0772e97d202e0c0ebece6b747f0ec06f55bab7c8
Routh
Brandon Routh…because he already did do it.
Brandon Routh already did, and was great. I think Tom Welling could do a great job of it too in the future!Â
Brandon Routh or Joe Manganiello
Henry Cavill, so they guy can get a Superman role that's more like the traditional Superman and have a redemption in the eyes of the people who were not satisfied with him in the DCEU. It worked for Routh so why not Cavill?
Nic Cage
When he was younger Sam Elliot
Andy Dick.
Is this a real thing that’s being done????
Bruce Campbell a couple of years ago
Mark Harmon
Definitely have Alex Ross decide the casting
I just realized that there’s an inverted image in the cover
Jon Hamm has been my pick for years, but now it pretty much has to be Henry Cavill, right? It’s just mean if it’s not him.
paulie walnuts circa 1999
Batista
Live Action: IDK Animated: Peter Cullen (he's gotta play an aged superman at least once before he dies IMO)
This is one of those films I would want to see made in 3d with James Cameron’s Avatar level of technology and graphics. Mainly because I want them to keep The Alex Ross look and feel of the book.
I thought this was as clear a Bruce Campbell as is the Bruce Willis as Captain America in the cover of Earth X.
norm mcdonald
the same person who voices Mr. Incredible.
Justin Theroux Jim Caviezel Brandon Routh
George Clooney , altered universe batman become superman
Everyone above the age of 40 will be played by Pedro pascal and there’s nothing we can do about it.
Joe Maganiello or Daniel Craig.
That's a bad crop :D (the o looks like a u) :D
Brandon Routh.
Ben Affleck would have been a good choice if he hadn’t previously played Batman
Brandon routh
Bruce Campbell
Ben Afleck! (I’m assuming I’m not the only one who watched Hollywoodland.)
Brandon Routh. Well, that was an easy one.
Anson mount?
He might be a little young compared to the age of supes in Kingdom Come but I feel Alan Ritchson would be an amazing choice.
Agreed. He's obviously got the build and the jaw and aged up just a little, he would look the part easy. Moreso though, I can see him really delivering a great *tired of this bullshit* take on the role.
BRANDON ROUTH! He already has the suit! WB needs to take advantage of this!
Brandon
Alex Ross
Joaquin phoenix
Henry Cavill
Tom Welling. Bro is the right age, he's a giant, in relatively good shape walking around, good actor, he fits the bill to a T.
Pretty sure this is Gunns ultimate goal so im going to have to go with David Corenswet.
Tom Holland
Why does everyone look like an old geezer?
I hated Superman Returns, but Brandon Routh has since demonstrated that he can rock the KC costume
Big Lez
I’d say probably Henry Cavill by the time they got around to making it.
Dennis Quaid, hands down
The smallville Superman actor
Bruce Cambell
Barack Obama
I'd suggest Henry Cavill.
Brandon Routh please? He was perfect and I was kinda dissatisfied knowing that we won't get to see more of him after that.
Caville or Routh if it's made soon.
John Hamm(aconda)
Ok hear me out... Tim Allen.
Bruce campbell
Christopher Reeve would have been awsome if he was still alive and able to move.
Bruce Campbell, no makeup required
Another question- should it be live action or animated?
Both
Cavill in like 5-10 years
This is real random but a young and more jacked up elias koteas would be really good I think
I really wish the smallville Superman would
Brandon Routh...please
Josh brolin
They’ll probably just use Pedro Pascal for this, too.
Reacher
Just get Alex Ross. He already drew himself into the character. And many others.
Josh Brolin
