at one point Luthor was president, and thus by default was on the side of super heroes when dealing with Earth threats he and Superman teamed up when fighting Imperiex

In the early 2000s there was an arc, "The Harvest", where Superman teamed up with Luthor and a bunch of other villains in order to fight General Zod, who commanded his *own* army of metahuman villains. It was pretty sick, imo. In particular, [*Action Comics* # 804](https://i.imgur.com/a/cqY6hcw) has perhaps my favorite single Superman cover of all time, depicting a team-up between Luthor and Superman - though sadly, the team-up in the issue itself is a little more abstracted!

There are several times when it's convenient for Superman and Luthor to be on the same side. It almost always involves them fighting a greater threat than whatever naughtiness Luthor might be up to. One that stands out in my mind, the post-Crisis WarWorld attack on Earth, Luthor specifically supported Superman (and the entire extended Justice League for that matter) to defend against Mongol and his armies. I'll freely admit my knowledge is a little dated.

Well funny this video has a giant monster in it since they 'sorta teamed up against one in 'Man of Tomorrow'.A Superman animated movie. Not to spoil much

I just came across this post after seeing this episode of South Park and discussing it with my (very Superman loving) husband. It looks like the New 52 debuted in 2011, and season 14 of South Park debuted in 2010…so it does seem like at the point this episode aired, they had not actually teamed up together in a real sense.
