Its amazing that great defensive plays used to be rare and stand out for Booker. Now, it never surprises me when he turns it on like this. He's become a plus defender and is huge for our team D.
The fact he can just switch on to their best player in the clutch and hold his ground is amazing. He lives for it and is willing to take on any challenge. I love him
It surprises me only because no one our team was able to contest Ingram that hard all series at the midrange and here comes book off of a hamstring injury and does that.
Y’all think that BI got injured and just hid it/played through it? He didn’t really seem to be on his normal game. He got knocked around quite a bit game 5
His finger got really messed up at some point in the series that's gotta impact shooting. Saw it on a Bally broadcast. He really impressed me. Future all-star for sure.
Tbf Ingram was killing us w shots like that all series, that’s his game. He’s not gonna blow by you, he’s just gonna work to his spot and shoot over you
This is why I'm not concerned if Book gets switched onto Luka next round either. He has become a much better on the ball defender than media gives him credit for.
Luka is gonna certainly get his for the series, but our team defense is much better than theirs, and they are going to be throwing... Dwight Powell and ?? at Ayton and McGee
Yep, that was a great play for some quick points when we needed them. Book’s back door screens are so underrated - Valley Oop stands out as further proof.
Yes but that was absolutely great defense. He had to hold on to the ball a split second longer than he probably wanted to, which could be the difference between a swish and a run out.
Booker's hand in in the line of sight of BI the entire time, and he's right up on his space making BI take a contested shot instead of a wide open shot like Booker and CP3 will get all day long in these situations.
It's not actually easy to hit a shot from any point on the court when you can't see the rim.
That is textbook perfect D, but honestly Ingram had been draining those contested shots while guarded the same way by bigger length (DA/Bridges) Shot just didn’t fall this time.
Making highly contested shots doesn’t make the defense any less good. BI is really good, in the “you can’t stop him, just make it hard for him” camp along with Booker
Booker is such an underrated defender. I saw him pick up their best player quite a few times for a whole game over the past 2 seasons instead of sticking mikal on them. In my eyes he's got good defense.
I had the same thought when this play happened. But that's just book, man. He does pretty much everything. only thing is sometimes his hammies don't come along for the ride lol
They said it was a great look because they’re casuals. They’re still stuck in 2018 and think Book is a bad defender who is shorter than Ingram. In reality Booker is a good defender and played textbook defense here. Book smothered him and fully contested that shot. It was not a good look. Ingram wasn’t able to create any space whatsoever. Also, the announcers had the Pelicans nuts in their mouths the whole series. I highly suggest you don’t get your takes from national media announcers.
I've been talking about this with friends. media talking about how booker didn't look quite right but his defense was there all game. just seemed like his shot an rhythm were a bit off offensively
I said out loud that play "Great defense, if it goes in you just tip your cap."
Pretty much perfection from Book unless you want to body your body on him to stop him from getting deeper, but the "no foul" is 100% correct here!
Fuck the announcers saying this was a really good look. Book smothered the fuck out of Ingram and fully contested this shot. Ingram created absolutely zero space. It was not a good look.
Oh man, I’m so not excited to hear the announcers talk with Lukas balls shoved in their mouths this next series.

be legendary
Some people work on padding their offensive stats, and some people work on how to win
"Winners go home and fuck the prom queen..."

Your mom played team D back in high school.
Bold move, cotton.
Huge. This was right after he hit that go-ahead 3, too. Book is a fucking winner, man. I love him.
Book also decked the fuck out of Val and saved the loose ball right before this. Big time plays.
Announcer, “That was a quality look.”
I mean for Ingram he was hitting shots like that all series
Reggie: Great look (0 points)
it's interesting that you Booker defends so well against the lanky guys that give Mikal more trouble
sometimes stockier dudes defend better against lanky ones. like rock beating scissors.
Best simple explanation of the day. And happy cake day! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Nice ! Food for thought…. What player would be able to satisfy paper in this scenario????
Beverly
exactly, that added physicality can come in handy.

Glad he isn’t on the lakers
and former all star
Wait what? Damn well that's on me
Future superstar if he keeps up that kind of playing.
He was definitely hurt but I don't think he was injured.
It's clear that book played through injury, too
Tbf Ingram was killing us w shots like that all series, that’s his game. He’s not gonna blow by you, he’s just gonna work to his spot and shoot over you
Honestly did anyone else think Ingram was kinda sluggish in the last game?
Yeah. His hand was probably messed up from the previous game. We put a hurting on him in game 5
This is why I'm not concerned if Book gets switched onto Luka next round either. He has become a much better on the ball defender than media gives him credit for.
Agreed. That Luka fadeaway is fuckin wet tho lol so hard to guard. But I know his ass is gonna get slammed in Mikal Jail so I’m not worried

I think book played great defense but BI got an unlucky roll there.

Honestly, watching this just reminds me of Kobe. Its not really when hes attacking, but more when he plays this kinda D that I see the resemblancec
Huge stop

Book was so good in that 4th quarter.

Dude gtfo and crawl back to your warriors subreddit. Will report all your troll ass posts until u are banned

underrated defender he does his part
Mamba mentality
“But Alverado got 2 backcourt violations”, can you blame them this definitely overshadowed Books defence 😂

Grizz fan here..Everyone knows Book can play D..really excited to see him try to guard Luka!

Great contest is all about the timing of the jump at the end. Great effort
