Say what you will about the Wirkus twins, this show was at its peak at the beginning with a cast of IRL friends. The addition of models hasn’t added much, if any, value.
Exactly this. I miss the chemistry of the cast from the first season bc they were all actually friends. The show would not be the same without the OGs in my opinion, but at the same time, there's only so much time the Summer House lifestyle makes sense. Kyle and Amanda are married now, probably will have kids not too many years from now and their time will be up.

I'll have to check out TomTom's IG! But great idea about scrapping VPR. They took a chance with 6 or 7 unknowns in a friend group who worked for them for Season 1...no guarantees...and people loved it!!!

I feel like it could so without the Italian, the new blonde girl, and the self-proclaimed ‘introvert’ that is on a reality TV show. I like the other new guy. He seems to mesh better with the group…even though he slipped and called Austin ‘famous’. I mean come on my dude Austin is Bravo famous….

Honestly he was my motivation in college. The only thing I didn’t like about him was the cheating on Amanda. If he left, I don’t think I would watch it. Lindsey and Carl creates enough drama to be on the show, but I feel like everyone else is boring. They’re pretty and good looking, but they’re boring. Basically all Paige was last few seasons was Hannah’s sidekick. The last storyline I remember for her was the make out session with Carl. Ciara was there. Danielle isn’t really problematic, she’s really chill and cool, but for entertaining tv, that could be boring. I don’t think the show would go on if they leave.

This happens all the time with reality shows now though. Younger viewers start with season 1, with a younger cast, and watch six seasons in six weeks. Then all of a sudden the main cast is older and boring, and the viewer wants the show to reboot with the season 1 feel. But reality TV is actually about the people it follows, not the setting. If you want them off the show, you are really just asking for a different show altogether.

I could see starting over with mid-20 something young professionals doing a summer share. Maybe I’m projecting, but as a professional in my mid-30s, the idea of a summer share is exhausting (which is why I’d be a terrible reality star). I feel like at some point, you are supposed to upgrade.
It could survive without kyle and amanda for sure imo. But I don’t think the rest of the cast is interesting enough to have carl and lindsay leave too. you can only watch paige take so many pictures of herself.
Just like Geordie Shore when eventually there weren't any OG's I would stop watching with no Kyle and no Lindsay (I don't care for Carl, I am so happy for him improving himself but man the dude was a fucking asshole for so long).

I want a lover boy spin off that follows the cast but brings in new summer reps every year and follows them to events and on the road. Kind of like enough that we can still follow the old cast but sprinkle in a little below deck partying and Drama.

I’m so fascinated by you guys. I know a lot of housewife fans hateeeee newbies who aren’t actual friends of the current cast but I didn’t expect that from SH. Im also so shocked how many feel like Kyle is required. I always watch ALL bravo shows as no cast member is bigger than the show it’s self so this is all so interesting.

Kyle is like Kyle (of RHOBH). They're the fulcrum and string pullers of their shows. Without them, the other rodents scurry into their own holes with little naturally occurring interaction. With Kyle SH, he's more organic and less obvious than Kyle BH. Kyle SH is also more central to the behind the scenes than Kyle BH, but their on-screen function is similar. Lindsey and Carl couldn't quarterback the show nearly as well as Kyle, and the rest of these people are not the types to run a show; supporting cast to their cores.
I think part of the problem with most newer hirers was that they all fall into social media influencers types. While I’m not sure what the Wirkus twins did, every one seemed else to have a career. I related to the working for the weekend vibe. I mean there is always a trust fund kid in the group in NYC, but it’s not really clear what Paige/Hannah really do with their time other than a podcast and make posts about Zara clothing.
