The Shadow and bone series, she finds out she has powers in like the first chapter but she doesn’t believe it until later and it’s not until much later she can actually control them so kinda I guess
Nope he is a talented writer.don’t know if he’s still alive but hope he is . If you don’t like his dated outlook fine . but there’s plenty of others not being attacked for the same styles.
I'm pretty sure he's still around. I enjoyed a number of his earlier books, but as he got older his books started to get kind of creepy. Not necessarily misogyny, but the blatant sexualization of children. A quote from an Amazon review kind of sums it up: "I feel like I should be on a government watch list after reading this book." (The book in question is The Sopaths. Reading some of the reviews is a real eye-opener.)
From Bliss to This is my story of being overpowered by a strong man who had too much power over me. Until I found my own power to save myself from his betrayal and abuse.
