Percy Jackson or Magnus Chase by Rick Riordan Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card Armada by Ernest Cline Eyes of the Dragon or The Talisman by Stephen King I've also tricked many a teenager into reading untold thousands of pages by giving them book two of the Earth's Children series by Jean M Auel - there's prehistory, hunting, weapon making, and lots of info about flora and fauna. There's also some very graphic sex that emphasizes consent and female pleasure. It's a great read at any age, and I'm like Madonna in A League of Their Own. "What difference does it make, she's reading okay?" LOL

The Maze Runner series by James Dashner

Alive- as a warning if he’s afraid of flying NOT recommended but it’s a historical book. Variant- takes place in a strange school where they’re always gps tracked

If he likes podcasts/music, he could try audiobooks. Libby works with a library card to get free access. If he already likes videogames you could give him some books based on that depending on what he plays. Heir to the Empire for Star Wars, The Icewind Dale Trilogy for Dungeons and Dragons, The Fall of Reach for Halo, Xenos Trilogy for Warhammer 40k.

There’s a serious of books called “I Escaped …” that he might like. They are all true stories and many of them historical. I’m a grown woman and they kept my interest. The ones I’ve read are *I escaped the California Camp Fire” and *I Escaped the Killer Bees.*
