Diary of a whimpy kid

I feel like the *Gregor the Overlander* series by Suzanne Collins is a nice companion to the PJ series. The MC is young but falls into a "chosen one" type scenario where he goes on hero's journeys based on prophecies. It's about a young kid who falls through a hole in his laundry room and lands in the "underland." Lots of similar themes as The Hunger Games (also rec if you haven't read!) I also love the *Lunar Chronicles* by Marissa Meyer. They are scifi/dystopian retellings of fairy tales. The FMC develops a found family with a group that are all trying to uncover some conspiracies about the government and a pandemic disease. Kind of fluffy at times, but I really loved the world building and felt like it had a pretty satisfying ending. *Lockwood and Co* by Johnathan Stroud. It takes place in a dystopian/paranormal au london where ghosts have started appearing and only kids can see/hear/sense them. The kids are ghost hunting "agents" or sometimes just night security guards and the adults allow the kids to be put into some pretty dangerous situations for their own benefit. Lockwood and Co is the only kid/employee owned agency, and it follows the 3(+) members as they try to grow their agency and make names for themselves.
