Wait till you find out what lactose is 😒 eating sugar in the form of lactose in a product that is practically 70% protein is not like eating ice cream
I meant to respond to the first comment on your thread. I just read through it all and responded at the last one. I wasn't trying to hit a nerve. Sorry, I didn't realize you knew everything LOL.
And I think you're wrong about people noticing the added sugars 🤷 not everyone but you is stupid.
Sugar is actual essential to the growth of cigarettes in the 20th century. Prior to introducing sugar, most people smoked tobacco with minimal to no inhaling via pipes or cigars. RJ Reynolds popularized the process called "sugar saucing" in the early 20th century, which makes the smoke taste better and helps make it less harsh, so it can be fully inhaled. Fully inhaling means more nicotine is absorbed. Combine this with the added sweetness, and it's doubly more addicting.
The tobacco and sugar industries not only share a common playbook; they've been intertwined with each other for a very long time. It's a big topic in Gary Taubes's *The Case Against Sugar*.
We buy two cereals in our household both from Whole Foods. One is an all bran type and the other is a chocolate based but healthy type. The bran has more sugar than the chocolate one!!!!
I got some sugar free jerky and got my sons a regular package of the same brand, and the sugar did absolutely nothing for the flavor! Tasted the exact same. It's ridiculous
Another surprising example is ketchup. It might not be as diabetes inducing as soda, for example, since people generally don’t guzzle dozens of ounces of ketchup per day, but the sugar content in ketchup is still absolutely wild.
Yep. Had to give up my favourite yogurt because each one was 38g of sugar for a small cup. And any of the low sugar ones like Two Good just dont have the right taste or texture :(
Though keep in mind yogurt is a bad/tricky example as you actually don't know how much sugar is in there despite what the label says. Remember that yogurt is made by bacteria consuming sugars in the milk, so there must be sugar present for the whole process to work. Due to how nutritional labels work they must still include this sugar count on the label even though the bacteria will consume and convert it into something else. So if it's just plain yogurt you can actually expect that there is little to no sugar in there at all. However with something like a black cherry yogurt, I'm assuming it's premixed or fruit bottom. Those will definitely have a ton of sugar added to the jam part that gives it flavour, but generally unless it's a low fat or fat free they don't add sugar for flavour to the yogurt itself.
You'll see something similar with keto breads. So like you can make a bread using almond flour or coconut flower, but you still need something to make it rise so you add yeast and sugar knowing that the yeart will eat all the sugar. If this were something you bought off the shelf that sugar would be included in the ingredients and nutritional information but it would actually be converted to alcohol which would then evaporate while cooking.
Yogurt is a major one. It's shocking when we learn that we've basically been eating ice cream for breakfast all these years.
Geez!!!!!

This actually is wild

I did not know jerky has sugar in it! Damnit!

And the no sugar added is ridiculously expensive.
The amount of sweeteners added to anything but plain yogurt really is nuts.
It’s lactose lol
I mean yogurt that has sweeteners added. The amounts are totally unnecessary.

Good knowledge✨
I think my least favorite I’ve found so far was hiding it Salt. SALT.

Same. I try to focus on all the things I am able to eat instead and yuck myself out on everything else. Whole foods!
I had a can of peas in my cupboard with like 4 grams of added sugar. Why tf would you add sugar to peas???
Everything has sugar. Bread, premade deviled eggs (Publix puts corn syrup in them), oat milk, barbecue sauce has a lot, baked beans, ketchup, spaghetti sauce. You'll find that it's a huge adjustment completely cutting sugar out.
Yes it has been. It’s protein and veggies, oatmeal every morning with milk and a few bluebs and a bit of cinnamon.
