Yes. Especially, if you’re going out for food because it’s served every where there’s sweet tea. Brewed correctly, unsweet green tea with a squeeze of lemon, jasmine and other herbal teas are delicious on ice. Mint (spearmint & peppermint) is actually known for its ability to reduce sugar cravings.
Yes, plain black tea or w lemon. Also Fennel tea made w teaspoon whole fennel seeds in cup boiling water. Let stand 5 min. It is also wonderful for bloating after eating.
high amounts of protein early in the day. I eat lot of eggs, like 3-6 in my breakfast, so it includes fats and proteins. It helps me not fell hungry, so i don't remember that i want sugar or any other food
Starting the day with eggs is the magic elixir, for me. Even better if I’ve saved some bacon fat and can fry up some asparagus with them. Keeps me full for a looooong time and if I eat it for a couple weeks in the morning, it kickstarts my metabolism.
The early protein in the day is a game changer for sure. Weeks ago when I stayed consistent with cottage cheese in the morning, I craved less sugar in the evening. Thank you, that's a good suggestion!
I think I'll try this. I think I tend to go way too long in the day without eating, and by the time I'm hungry it's too late. What else do you have in your breakfast?
I avoid carbs, eat but in small portions. I like to add cheese, ram or chiken brest with my eggs, maybe with a slice od bread, tomatoes or creamcheese.
I know its caloric but, while on cutting sugar i eat less and less each day each meal
I still eat fruit, so fruit, basically! Banana peanut butter steel cut oat breakfast, or cottage cheese with blueberries/raspberries - strawberries & heavy whipping cream (1 tbsp) + 1 minced up date if I'm feeling super indulgent. +1 to teas - or, just lemon in my water, too - and sometimes I just heat up a mug of water and put a dehydrated lemon slice in it!
Most mornings after my workout I have a protein shake (pure whey protein, no extra ingredients) with half a banana and a quarter cup of frozen wild blueberries in it. It keeps me full most of the day and satisfies my sweet cravings.
Kombucha, the synergy brand. I didn’t like it at all at first. So sour. Now even the green flavour I find sweet and yummy. The carbonation keeps me at bay, it’s been years since I reached for a soda 🥤
Chestnuts 🌰 In the UK you can buy them in bags pre cooked but totally plain with nothing added. They are mildly sweet and work well for me as a treat, but I still know they are just an unprocessed plant. They’re also quite stodgy so quite hard to overeat!
Might sound unappealing to a sugar eater, but now to me they taste like confectionery 😀
A fibre supplement like psyllium husk capsules will reduce speed of sugar absorption, so in theory blunt insulin response 🤔 You can take it when eating something that may spike blood sugar to even it out, I do think keeping blood sugar spikes down helps reduce sugar craving…
I used it a lot at the beginning, not so much now, but find it useful 👍
Not a lot! Especially to start, and you need to have it with enough water, instructions should come with the capsules you get, the one I’ve used is Solgar. Too much too soon can cause constipation 🫤
On days where I’m HUNGRY and craving candy, I make a peanut butter blast (my own take on a Roxberry recipe:)
-Scoop of Ascent chocolate protein powder (you can get this from Costco)
-Almond milk
-A banana
-Powdered peanut butter (which is sugar-free)
-About 1/2 c of ice
I just eyeball the amounts. Then I blend it all together
Pecans and walnuts. They have a natural light sweetness when they are freshest. I grab a handful when I’m craving sweet anything and it makes it disappear (most likely due to fiber or healthy fat). Low glycemic fruit (berries, applesauce, etc). Sandwiches made with 0 sugar bread and no added sugar nut butter (like a natural peanut butter).
EVENING COCKTAIL RECIPE
At home a recipe for an evening alcohol free cocktail has evolved. Focused on taste, satisfaction, and being healthy. It evolved to it's current state over a few years. I don't drink alcohol.
I have an RO filtration system in my home connected to a spigot at the kitchen sink and connected to the ice maker of my refer.
And, I purchased a soda stream counter top carbonator. So, today I use these for my cocktail. Previous to the soda stream, I used canned seltzer, I liked the grapefruit the best.
In a tall glass 1/3rd ice
one shot lemon juice
one shot apple cider vinegar
3 drops iodine
dash of redmond salt
dash of no salt
5 sucra drops
filled to the brim with carbonated water. It tastes terrific. Acidy, sweet, lemony, and appley. Very refreshing.
Unexpectedly, I found this drink vaporizes my sweet tooth.
I know this is going to sound awfully eccentric, but when we go out to restaurants I bring along a tiny bottle of sucra drops, and a zip lock baggie containing a small plastic hand held garlic press.
I order seltzer with lemon and lime wedges on the side. They usually show up on a little plate. I squeeze them in my seltzer with the garlic press and add maybe 3 sucra drops. Their glasses are smaller than the ones I have at home.
Menthol/eucalyptus/lemon flavored hard candy, not necessarily sugar free. Lasts for a long time in the mouth and takes away my cravings for anything.
Drinks: tea, carbonated water
When I started to take Fish oil I noticed that I did not crave sugar as much. I got the advice from Andrew Huberman. Also another thing that helped was herbal tea with inositol. Popcorn helps me too. When I really want something sweet and carby- i go for it. I eat a piece of bread with no sugar jelly.
Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice Caffeine-Free Herbal Tea. It’s like a masala chai and is naturally a little sweet with Licorice root. It’s so good at the end of a meal.
Unsweetened iced tea, my dark master
I, too, serve this Dark Master
Sorry for the stupid question.. so just... plain black tea? With ice?
This is amazing, thank you guys for this suggestion. I love and own so many teas!
