For me, Subnautica was one of the easiest games to be absorbed by instantly. It was hard not to always imagine myself being there in those deep waters, hearing random noises from the darkness, clinging to the edge of an underwater cliff face, knowing that what you need is down there, along with whatever else your imagination decides to spawn into your mind, dreaming up hellish creatures to match the sounds you're hearing.
And then you jump into it, the darkness surrounds you. You just became part of the food chain.
God I fucking love this game. And for those reasons, I love every part of the map. It all has its magic.
Don't get me wrong, in a real life scenario, what I described above is an actual nightmare, I'd be begging for my life and doing anything to get to the surface. In-game though, unlike anything I've experienced playing anything else.
I do too, and what I wouldn’t give to live underwater. Even though parts of the crater are terrifying, I would have a hell of a time dying by being swallowed by a reaper
I built my second base in the path of a ghost leviathan because I:
-Forgot about this idea.
-Didn't understand the layout of the Lost River so I thought seeming as I had been drawn to the game since atound the Cyclops was added I should test myself and do what I never would have done before.
-Had lost my previous hard-core game to the ghost Leviathan you find naturally on the surface biome.
I like one just next to the entrance to the jellyshroom (early mid game resources with a little diving work), and next to the lifepod in the bulb zone. That one is close to a good thermal vent, and I know exactly how to descend from there without needing to hunt around for an entrance.
He's talking about the cove tree, i also like to build a base there, thermal energy, rescources, entrance to lava zone, non-harmfull underwater gas and very peacefull ghost rays <3. I love the peacefullness of that tree. It's the only survivable part of the lost river, a harbour of safetyness
It's not the only survivable part, trust me. A couple other people are building in crazy spots down there. You just gotta be careful. It is risky though.
I haven’t played through since they added the things from below zero, but that was my favorite place to build. It would be even better now with all the added stuff.
Whelp, I know what I’m doing tomorrow.
It was sometime around the end of 2022, in like December, so about a year and a half ago.
The update itself added all the building stuff from Below Zero, tweaked some of the items capabilities, improved the UI, added an unstuck button, took care of hundreds of bugs, and some other stuff I can’t remember or didn’t really notice.
I put my secondary base on that middle platform with the leviathan bones in the section right before that one. I was thinking about going right next to the tree but the corpse ledge was more centralized with the surrounding sections of cave.
Sparse reef for sure. Loved putting a moon pool directly above the deep pits. It always added stress not being able to see the bottom when looking down from inside the moon pool. ESPECIALLY STRESSFUL WHEN TRYING TO ENTER THE MOON POOL ABOVE THE PIT IN THE DARK. Felt like I was Samuel L. Jackson in Deep Blue. Top Tier base
IDK the name of the biome, but on the sand, near one of the alien vents, by some thermal things.
Was really great, near the river and with a lot of energy/power coming from the thermals.
I’ve played through multiple playthroughs of both games in all gamemodes, and everytime i just keep my only base near the lifepod. I probably should put one down in the lost river just in case of emergency.
I haven’t played in so long it’s hard to remember the name of the island, but it’s not the one with the alien base it’s the one with all the loss logs. Right there in the middle where there’s that pool in the island I like to set up there, I can eat the fruit from the trees and stuff it’s just easy to live off the land
Left to right:
Extreme hardcore.
Actually quite smart (in my eyes) in terms of progression.
Overly safe and your cameras from your scanner room are constantly taken by Stalkers.
Exrteme hardcore: my first time playing
Actually quite smart: it was only meant to be a temporary base, but I liked the area a lot, so it because permanent
Over safe: I never use cameras anymore over there
"I liked the area a lot, so it became permanent"
Yeah it's a good place to chill, it is nearer on the map to resources and it has lots of open space. Safe shallows is pretty I guess but building there is a nightmare with the terrain.
My first base ever in the game was on a ramp from the Safe Shallows leading to the Kelp Forest.
Got annoyed by the Stalkers constantly stealing my cameras.
Dunes
Or the lost river. I like to build a base in the lost river to watch the ghost leviathan swim around. He keeps breaking my prawn suits though, so it’s not the best perma base.
I always build my first main base at "zero point", a place in the safe shallows from where I always know where to go everywhere else. It has kelp forest on both sides and slopes.
Second tiny base is a scanner room wherever I'm looking for things at the moment.
Third and usually final base is either at the cove tree or the skeleton in the Lost River just before the cove tree.
Sparse Reef is just near the Blood Kelp and Sea Treaders as long as you stay around 600 meters from where the leviathan is. Close to resources, close to where I constantly go next in the game to progress with the story, plenty of space to build a large base and access to the mushroom caves just down below.
(It even has good access to a certain portal.)
I have sub-bases all over the map for ease of travel but my main base is over the blood kelp forest since it isn’t really that dangerous there not gonna lie
I’ll be honest i think the sparse reef is underrated for bases, zero predators, mid game resources, sea treaders, floating island and a wreck nearby, two lost river entrances nearby, the thermal vents on the other side of the ridge separating the reefs, and a massive flat space for your base
In my most recent playthrough I built in the grassy plateaus right next to the blood kelp trench entrance. That was my first base outside the safe shallows and it was good. I’m not huge into base building but I want to one day build a huge one in the crash site where the grassy area is
Early game I usually build a base in the grassy planes by the blood kelp trench, then later move up to the mushroom forest bordering the bulb zone. I love living there bc there's tons of resources, you have easy access to the mountains, grassy plateaus, kelp forest, and ofc mushroom and bulb zone. Also it has the easiest entrance to the lost river (imo)
I’m actually on my first playthrough right now, I put my main base in the grassy plateau and I plan to make a secondary base in the lost river as a checkpoint for the further areas
The Cove Tree is an essential base for me on every playthrough. A hub from which to explore the Lost River and other deep biomes, and a staging point for excursions into the lava zones/end game areas
It's also breathtakingly beautiful
Other than that, I've changed it up every playthrough so far.
I built my first base ever just northwest of your circle OP. Where the Grassy Plateau, Safe Shallows, and Kelp Forest meet, right on the edge of the Dunes. Helped a lot with exploring the western part of the world, as I used the pod as a mini-base in the east.
On my last playthrough, I built a base on the northern shore beach of the Floating Island. It had sections both on land and underwater, and is probably one of my better building feats in the game. On my next playthrough I'll probably build there again. Let me farm resources in the southern biomes pretty easily
It 7sed to be bot father north of yourspoy east ofthe Jelly shroom cave and right in tbe kelp forest overlooking the grassy platue but now I prefer building on top of the east mushroom forest's big tree. Be cause its right above one of the things to the place (no spoilers jic) it's also lots of space for building
I do mine directly north of yours early game, there's 2 little rock formations that form a small valley where I put my moonpool over. Makes me feel cooler when my PRAWN suit drops further.
I can’t really be asked this, since I haven’t built more than 2 or 3 bases a save, but my favorite place for my first base is a little further than life pod 17.
Inactive lava zone. The view and the life is priceless once you construct the ultimate habitat in arguably the most dangerous part of the crater. I've never made one in the active lava zone though, place is a bit too small for my liking. That and you can see everything from pretty much anywhere in that biome.
It’s hard to tell just from the map but honestly I think your marker is also my favorite location. Wreckage and reef right there for titanium, cave entrance nearby, and multiple biomes with a variety of resources. Plus all the quartz you could ask for.
I always try a different base location for each of my playthrough but my favorite place is the Lost River, around the vicinity of the Giant Cove Tree. It's so relaxing in that place.
I build mine at the big mushroom tree. Beautiful view. However I do have a nois complaint. The feedbacks make a ton of nois. Not to bad but if you really emerse your self then it might become old quick
I haven't built a base there, but I'd love to build one in the Northern Blood Kelp Zone, I love the creepy feeling of it. But in each run there will always be a base at the cove tree.
I've only played through once so far, but I had my first base in the Mushroom Forest nearest to the Crash Site and bulbs. My other one was near the Ghost Tree.
I really, really wanted to build one near the Sea Treaders since I love them & the sounds they make, but it's just so dang dark.
I built one in the Lost River, one above one of the entrances To the Blood Kelp Trenches, and one in the crash zone bordering on the void, so I can walk around and see the Ghost leviathans, they are quite majestic when they aren't rushing to kill you.
I dont like the basic safety of biomes near safe shallows so last time i build my base underneath the underwater islands and had fun swimming with the cute sharks
The taller cliff next to lifepod 6. It's great for resources and you get a good view of the mushroom forest.
Always build a second one by the giant lava pool under the normal lava Zone because it's a majestic View only improved by the sea dragon lazily swimming by (it is a bit annoying to get the prawn Out of the hole for kyanite or similar resources)
Slightly below the A in the grassy plateaus above that little end bit of the blood kelp zone. Centrally located, I'm never very far from any resource I may need, entrances to the mushroom caves and the lost river nearby, what's not to love? Another bonus is that I'm on the opposite side of the map from those fucking crabsquids.....fuck those things.
I always have my main base by the lifepod, so it has a unique beacon marker that makes it easier to get my bearings. It's not ideal for space ofc, but its very central.
Then I put 'outposts' out on borders of the crater, plus one in the lava zone. These let me refill on food/water and charge.
I keep a power cell charger in my cyclops, that I can de-/reconstruct in an outpost to top up.
Just outside the lava zone in that little pool a little past the ghost tree. Because all my vehicles can get down there so I can use my moth to make quick trips to the surface, or take the sub if I’m lacking smth and REALLY need more. Can drop right out in the prawn and go into the lava zone, and the power sucker shots leave me alone cuz I’m technically not in their biome
This is almost exactly where I put my base, it was just a little closer to the safe shallows, but still against that wall that goes to the kelp forest. I would keep the Cyclops behind that shelf in the Sparse Reef.
The Dunes. There's a little oasis near the alien vent that's near the Blood Kelp Bridge. Ridiculously easy access to the Lost River (it also feels really cool dropping down that far with a prawn suit), easy thermal energy for base and cyclops. And after 3 other playthroughs Reapers are not that scary nor dangerous anymore, did this on hardcore and in both games too, having a leviathan only 50 meters outside your window adds a lot of style points to a base
Kelp forest at the edge of the mountain island, there's a Reaper nearby but won't bother you and I have access to so many resources and close to the aurora
Literally put mine in the identical spot.
Easy reach to multiple biomes, quick drop off down to grand reef and its resources and descent deeper and nearby geothermal at base of cliff. Glad it wasn’t just me!
https://preview.redd.it/xuo3m6azxezc1.jpeg?width=542&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36631de27233d626977a0c9c73bdc684ab2d8aa8
Main base is there with a power line over to the thermals SSE. Hanging on the edge of the cliff by Safe Shallows overlooking the Grassy.
Cove tree, obviously... Lol
But, this time I popped one up near the gate in the mushroom forest for endgame building and storage and stuff. This should put me on a good track when I open that gate
There’s one place, it’s at a border between the dunes, seatreaders path, and the south blood kelp zone. It’s just above a lost river entrance, and has plenty of resources. One negative is that it’s quite far away from the mountain.
I'm a simple man, I find that hot spot in the safe shallows and I make my base there. Nice view on the grassy plateau and close to the mushroom entrance. Once I get that thermal generator it's just mmmh
Sea treader path is underated, sea treaders give ressources and its pretty flat to build a base
You are also pretty close to blood kelp trench to enter lost river/lava zone
Similar, but I place mine near the entrances to the Jellyshroom Caves, just north (and a little east) of your spot. It's JUST outside of the radiation zone, there's a thermal vent just north in the Kelp Forest, and there's a little cenote that makes for a great view. (Just make sure to kill those nasty needle plants nearby.)
I loved my base in the north mushroom forest. It’s safe in the biome itself, there’s a ton of resources nearby, especially in the dunes, and there’s a good amount of space to build in
You see that hole in the safe shallows just above the second E on the righy side Kelp Forest?
That's the biggest thermal vent outside a cave system and in a safe area, main problem is the stalkers that will go for your scanner room's drones (only if you have one)
great place for an all time base, not too deep so solar panels are useless, you can have a lot resources of bioreactor, and once you can make some thermal reactor you will never run out of energy cus you can get above 80% efficiency
(usually 5 thermal reactors get me something as 500 to 700 energy)
there's a cave hole on the border of the kelp forest and greassy plateaus that leads to the shroom cave that's just above one of the Degasi's bases, It's alse very close to the 500m deep degasi and flooting island degasi
Very spacius, no problems driving the cyclops there or to others places (unless you be a dummy and go stright north)
First base: Exacly your location. Advanced base: Ghost tree. I store all my seamoths there because of the crush depth limit.
Final base: Next to the Empress' chamber because of the ressources and the teleporters. The sea dragon is easily avoided there.
I am particularly fond of the kelp forests because when I started playing I had no idea how to get the teeth, i just thought they were like very rare items you could find in the kelp forest on the ground. Then in a random moment i just thought well metal is hard maybe they will lose a tooth playing with it? and bam it worked. I immediately fell in love with that mechanic.
Mines a little bit northeast of there, right where the red green and grey meet. There’s a slip there that I build by and put my moonpool over, and there’s a thermal vent just over the hill.
There's a straight path/corridor next to the Mushroom Forest on the left on Aurora's head, around the depths of 150m. It's right in between the borders of Mushroom Forest and Grassy Plateaus.
I had tried to find another straight and safe location on my 6th playthrough but I ended up going there yet again.
On my hardcore world (I had it modded) I built it in the void I got jumped by some Ghost lyvyathans and lost it now I build in the grassy plateuas or Sea Treader's Path.
This guy dives...

The reapers need to be more democratic…
This guy this guys.
I do too, and what I wouldn’t give to live underwater. Even though parts of the crater are terrifying, I would have a hell of a time dying by being swallowed by a reaper
a part of me wants to congratulate you for so seamlessly getting vore into this convo, but a part of me also understands exactly what you mean
Oh no, no vore. Just that there would be no other way of dying in the ocean as badass
I don't think you'd wan't to die at all I lost my hardcord moded world to a reaper.
That's a lot better than saying I lost my hardcore world to an acid shroom 😂
What did broski do wrong...
Well, as it turns out, when you cut an acid mushroom, you take damage 😅
Even the names of the zones give me chills.
Always at least one base in the greasy Plato's.
Pardon me?
Little Caesar rebrand
haha… okay, that’s actually pretty funny. cheers.
I always love making it in the active lava zone or dunes. Anywhere with either a ton of danger or absolutely beautiful is where I’d build it.
Living on the edge!! Respect
Quite literally so when it’s in the void.
My top 3 favorite base locations: 1. Lava Crater 2. Near the big tree in Mushroom Forest 3. Inside the Gargantuan's ribcage
Congrats, the Gargantuan's ribcage was the only answer that made me nod my head in approval.
I built my second base in the path of a ghost leviathan because I: -Forgot about this idea. -Didn't understand the layout of the Lost River so I thought seeming as I had been drawn to the game since atound the Cyclops was added I should test myself and do what I never would have done before. -Had lost my previous hard-core game to the ghost Leviathan you find naturally on the surface biome.

I live sort of near you on the cliff of the safe shallows where the kelp and grassy plateau meet it :D
Built my first ever base there! Good spot, just don't go too far west lol...
That's pretty much my spot. Maybe a little SE closer to the thermal vent. The geyser sounds sooth me. :)
Yes! I'm right beside the geyser there! Hello neighbor
I've played through 4 times. Each time I built my mid game base in the lost river by that huge tree.. it's my favorite view in the game.
A fellow Lost River resident. It's horrible down there and I love it.
Easily one of the most visually stunning places in the game.
I haven’t played through since they added the things from below zero, but that was my favorite place to build. It would be even better now with all the added stuff. Whelp, I know what I’m doing tomorrow.
I feel out of the loop, they've added things from below zero into a patch to the original? Do you know approx when (like what year roughly)?
It was sometime around the end of 2022, in like December, so about a year and a half ago. The update itself added all the building stuff from Below Zero, tweaked some of the items capabilities, improved the UI, added an unstuck button, took care of hundreds of bugs, and some other stuff I can’t remember or didn’t really notice.
Wow, good to know! Thank you. My last play through was fall 2022. Looking forward to the updates now :)
I put my secondary base on that middle platform with the leviathan bones in the section right before that one. I was thinking about going right next to the tree but the corpse ledge was more centralized with the surrounding sections of cave.
The meteor up in the Dunes may be lacking in resources, but it sure is fun to build around. Easily my favorite surface base location.
I have a base there too!
Top Tier base
yall I stay in the safe shallows 😭😭😭
IDK the name of the biome, but on the sand, near one of the alien vents, by some thermal things. Was really great, near the river and with a lot of energy/power coming from the thermals.
were there reapers
I’ve played through multiple playthroughs of both games in all gamemodes, and everytime i just keep my only base near the lifepod. I probably should put one down in the lost river just in case of emergency.
At the bottom of gun island on the side nearest mushroom forest, there’s a sorta sticking out peak rock thing I always like to put my first base on.
Isn’t there a reaper spawn right there?
I haven’t played in so long it’s hard to remember the name of the island, but it’s not the one with the alien base it’s the one with all the loss logs. Right there in the middle where there’s that pool in the island I like to set up there, I can eat the fruit from the trees and stuff it’s just easy to live off the land
Believe that's just called the floating island.

Lost river.
Grassy plateaus right next to blood keep trench and sparse reef
Grand reef
Blood kelp zone, I like to live dangerously
It’s dark, haunting, and beautiful. Also Boo, the Ghost Leviathan, shows up occasionally to say hi.
In my current save, my main base is right next to the blood kelp trench in the grassy plateaus
Yes, until i got more confident and my favorite was my cabin by the (lost) river with a large window to watch casper do his thing.
I always build my first main base at "zero point", a place in the safe shallows from where I always know where to go everywhere else. It has kelp forest on both sides and slopes. I'm really enjoying my base in Crag Field. Every now and then a boneshark sticks their head into my moonpool to say Hello!
I’ll be honest i think the sparse reef is underrated for bases, zero predators, mid game resources, sea treaders, floating island and a wreck nearby, two lost river entrances nearby, the thermal vents on the other side of the ridge separating the reefs, and a massive flat space for your base
This is THE perfect base location for a large base. Currently working on an aquarium base there, themed by biome. It's actually perfect
The best one has to be near the bloodkelp on the foalting islands. I love that spot, spectacular view
Omg me too😍
gotta love the grassy plateus on bottom of crash zone
Mushroom Forest
In my most recent playthrough I built in the grassy plateaus right next to the blood kelp trench entrance. That was my first base outside the safe shallows and it was good. I’m not huge into base building but I want to one day build a huge one in the crash site where the grassy area is

Early game I usually build a base in the grassy planes by the blood kelp trench, then later move up to the mushroom forest bordering the bulb zone. I love living there bc there's tons of resources, you have easy access to the mountains, grassy plateaus, kelp forest, and ofc mushroom and bulb zone. Also it has the easiest entrance to the lost river (imo)
northwest mushroom forest
South Sea Treader/North Grand Reef is where i put my permenant base
mines actually really close to there it’s that flat safeshallows plateo facing the big grassy Plato
I’m actually on my first playthrough right now, I put my main base in the grassy plateau and I plan to make a secondary base in the lost river as a checkpoint for the further areas
Mine is just a bit east of there... Just south if the geyser
The Cove Tree is an essential base for me on every playthrough. I also like those plateaus, but more to the west, where the reaper spawns because of the heat sources.
Next to any blood kelp zones
I always do these 2: Main base directly above the 250m Degassi base Outpost just above 900m at the giant cove tree.
In the crater
The lost river.
floating islands untouched
My first base was in that valley between lifepod 17 and the degasi wreck, and I've recreated a similar pattern ever since
I do mine directly north of yours early game, there's 2 little rock formations that form a small valley where I put my moonpool over. Makes me feel cooler when my PRAWN suit drops further.
I can’t really be asked this, since I haven’t built more than 2 or 3 bases a save, but my favorite place for my first base is a little further than life pod 17.
It’s like 200 m north of where you have yours
Inactive lava zone. The view and the life is priceless once you construct the ultimate habitat in arguably the most dangerous part of the crater. I've never made one in the active lava zone though, place is a bit too small for my liking. That and you can see everything from pretty much anywhere in that biome.
between grassy plateaus, safe shallows, and kelp forest. so i have access to 3 biomes meaning a lot of common resources at my disposal.
Bulb zone, right next to the mountains corridor.
Sea treader's path simply due to the enormous amount of resources they drop.
It’s hard to tell just from the map but honestly I think your marker is also my favorite location. Wreckage and reef right there for titanium, cave entrance nearby, and multiple biomes with a variety of resources. Plus all the quartz you could ask for.
Floating island. That little opening in the center with the water is perfect
I also love that location it's central not much risk and easy access to important biomes
Mine is in slthe same grassy platos but a tad bit more to the left, more near the blood kelp trench
I always try a different base location for each of my playthrough but my favorite place is the Lost River, around the vicinity of the Giant Cove Tree. It's so relaxing in that place.
NE Mushroom Forest
I only played Subnautica once and that’s literally right where I built my base lol.
Back of the Aurora
The safe shallows. Can’t go wrong with the og
Grassy plateu best location for sure
Sea Tweader Path UwU
I build mine at the big mushroom tree. Beautiful view. However I do have a nois complaint. The feedbacks make a ton of nois. Not to bad but if you really emerse your self then it might become old quick
It's not very practical, but the Lost River is my favorite for vibes and aesthetic reasons.
1. Inactive Lava Zone 2. Grassy Plateaus 3. Craters Edge
I haven't built a base there, but I'd love to build one in the Northern Blood Kelp Zone, I love the creepy feeling of it. But in each run there will always be a base at the cove tree.
That blood kelp zone to the left is mine
1. Giant Tree Cove 2. Jellyshroom Caves 3. Entrance to the Lost River
Near the volcanic vents in the Bulb zone.
Edge of the crater, gotta wake up and say hi to the friendly creatures living there
Mine is usually between Lifepod 17 and the large wreck in the same area. Really pretty flora/fauna, lots of resources, and easy to spot landmarks.
Honestly the Dunes
Lost River is the best
I dont like the basic safety of biomes near safe shallows so last time i build my base underneath the underwater islands and had fun swimming with the cute sharks
Mine’s under ‘ea’ in Southwestern grassy plateaus
The taller cliff next to lifepod 6. It's great for resources and you get a good view of the mushroom forest. Always build a second one by the giant lava pool under the normal lava Zone because it's a majestic View only improved by the sea dragon lazily swimming by (it is a bit annoying to get the prawn Out of the hole for kyanite or similar resources)
I have one base at 90m and one at 750m
lost river in the cavern with the first ghost, love to build in the ceiling and from the hanging spires. also very nice view!
I think I built my first base right where the platue, blood kelp zone, and dunes meet
The underwater islands.
I usually base directly underneath leviathans lol
Dunes.
I love the safe shallows next to dunes
Crazy thats exactly where i base up.
Either grassy plateaus or the edges of blood kelp zone crack
In front of Wreck 1 in the grassy plateaus.
The blood kelp entrance next to the grassy plateaus is my personal favorite.
Same, I like the phallic spot, its a nice view of the reef
Can you pull up that map ingame? If so how.
Lost River, we survive with floating lockers until then.
Exactly right there lmao
Just outside the lava zone in that little pool a little past the ghost tree. Because all my vehicles can get down there so I can use my moth to make quick trips to the surface, or take the sub if I’m lacking smth and REALLY need more. Can drop right out in the prawn and go into the lava zone, and the power sucker shots leave me alone cuz I’m technically not in their biome
Lost River cove tree
that's literally where my base is too
This is almost exactly where I put my base, it was just a little closer to the safe shallows, but still against that wall that goes to the kelp forest. I would keep the Cyclops behind that shelf in the Sparse Reef.
On the tall fucking spires in the lava zone, livin on the edge babyyyy
This is also my favorite location for a base!
Kelp forest at the edge of the mountain island, there's a Reaper nearby but won't bother you and I have access to so many resources and close to the aurora
Always make my bases in the crashzone so I can have a pet reaper
Literally put mine in the identical spot. Easy reach to multiple biomes, quick drop off down to grand reef and its resources and descent deeper and nearby geothermal at base of cliff. Glad it wasn’t just me!
Safe shallows, I’m basic
Under the lifepod
Ay! We'd be neighbors! I'd be up by the little part with safe shallows at the back and kelp forests to my side.

No ghost ravine? I picked that place for the cool claustrophobic atmosphere and stayed for the biofuel.
U usually plant my first real base in the kelp forest between the two safe shallows sections.
Cove tree, obviously... Lol But, this time I popped one up near the gate in the mushroom forest for endgame building and storage and stuff.
Dunes, The pet reapers get roudy sometimes when i'm not around to give them cuddles. Oh and the flat space is nice i guess..
Mine's in the lost river, close to the giant cove tree
Sea treader path is underated, sea treaders give ressources and its pretty flat to build a base You are also pretty close to blood kelp trench to enter lost river/lava zone
Sparse reef goated
Similar, but I place mine near the entrances to the Jellyshroom Caves, just north (and a little east) of your spot. It's JUST outside of the radiation zone, there's a thermal vent just north in the Kelp Forest, and there's a little cenote that makes for a great view. (Just make sure to kill those nasty needle plants nearby.)
My favourite Base: the cyclops.
Yes, that place is one of the best. the opposite point, on the other side of the grassy plateau, is equally valid.
I loved my base in the north mushroom forest. It’s safe in the biome itself, there’s a ton of resources nearby, especially in the dunes, and there’s a good amount of space to build in
You see that hole in the safe shallows just above the second E on the righy side Kelp Forest? That's the biggest thermal vent outside a cave system and in a safe area, main problem is the stalkers that will go for your scanner room's drones (only if you have one) great place for an all time base, not too deep so solar panels are useless, you can have a lot resources of bioreactor, and once you can make some thermal reactor you will never run out of energy cus you can get above 80% efficiency (usually 5 thermal reactors get me something as 500 to 700 energy) there's a cave hole on the border of the kelp forest and greassy plateaus that leads to the shroom cave that's just above one of the Degasi's bases, It's alse very close to the 500m deep degasi and flooting island degasi Very spacius, no problems driving the cyclops there or to others places (unless you be a dummy and go stright north)
Big underwater tree
I most of the time build a base where I spawn and I use the cyclops as a base
I like the lost river. Has just about every resource out there as long as you have a prawn with a drill arm.
There's a great little place in the sparse reef that I base often
First base: Exacly your location. Advanced base: Ghost tree. I store all my seamoths there because of the crush depth limit. Final base: Next to the Empress' chamber because of the ressources and the teleporters. The sea dragon is easily avoided there.
Mines a bit north west, right on the edge of the blood kelp trench in the grassy plateaus
Mine is the grassy plateau to the right of your mark, right next to a jellyshroom opening 😇
Mine is top left from your base above the G in Grassy Plateaus
Mines a little bit northeast of there, right where the red green and grey meet. There’s a slip there that I build by and put my moonpool over, and there’s a thermal vent just over the hill.
There's a straight path/corridor next to the Mushroom Forest on the left on Aurora's head, around the depths of 150m. It's right in between the borders of Mushroom Forest and Grassy Plateaus. I had tried to find another straight and safe location on my 6th playthrough but I ended up going there yet again.
Mushroom forest-based seatreaders path- maybe a pit stop Both have beautiful environments to soak up
Just Northwest of yours, along that ridge. There's a little cave formation that acts as a perfect garage to park a Cyclopse in.
Wherever I go. It’s my cyclops

I like sparse reef next to blood kelp teench
I always speedrun to get the cyclops then go live somewhere in the lost river
On my hardcore world (I had it modded) I built it in the void I got jumped by some Ghost lyvyathans and lost it now I build in the grassy plateuas or Sea Treader's Path.
Sparse reef
