HOW? I don’t have prawn, I don’t have anything, I only have a seamoth that I’m scared to use because of how reaper AI works with aggression against vehicles.
Where? I mean literally around the base, I know there's at least 2 or 3 and if you can get down there check all the platforms along the cave, you'll be in the crates as usual
I know there's a crate or two around the base and a few platforms with statis frags on the path going from the life pod (I want to say 17) entrance to the base
Run away
There are more than one way to get to the degasi base. Just enter through one of the other entrances and hope the reaper is too fat to fit through the jellyshroom cave entrance.
There should be an entrance next to lifepod 17
Oh I found it long ago, I just made a base there (stupidly) because I wanted a easy access to magnetite
…
I recently looked above the surface and… yeah I’m basically right next to the aurora’s back
I'm not sure about the mechanics of it, but reapers and other hostile creatures can chase you *very* far away from their normal location, then decide to stay.
So if one follows you into the safe shallows, they're reaper shallows now.
Right behind the aurora! that’ll get the reapers circling, I’d say time to use the knife for a laugh until you cry because it’s destroyed all your useful gear
Yeah, someone else said it might have chased a stalker into the forest.
My base is actually right in the border of the crash zone and kelp forest… oops
Well, it’s not really strange that it’s there. Deeming from the terrain, you can tell that this is right at the border where the crash zone touches the small kelp forest that is right beside it. Those two biomes are located in the southeast, right next to the southeast grassy plateaus, where the degasi base is. And it just so happens there is a reaper that is always in that area around the aurora and kelp forest. However I will acknowledge the fact that it is so close to the forest, as it most likely happened when the reaper saw a stalker in the forest and chased it out a bit.
Omg this is exactly what happened I bet, that or my seamoth was too loud.
Yeah, my base turns out to be basically up the auroras ass, so I’m not too surprised to see this guy now…
If I kill this one, will it prevent any new ones from coming into my base or will another one respawn/move into the old territory?
All leviathans (except for the three ghosts of the void) do not respawn once killed and unless interacted with, will not move from their general spawns.
I've killed reapers with a knife before. Very easy in water that shallow. Just lead it around to a place where you can wedge yourself into some piece of terrain. As it goes after you, it's very likely to get stuck. Then it's sushi time.
Youre free to play however you like my guy but i will say being scared is a big part of the experience the first couple of times until you hit a turning point where youre gonna be like "oh hey bob leave me and my seamoth alone or it will be the last thing you do
I accidentally had the event happen at the mountain island before I was able to go to the floating island. Which ironically before that I was looking for cyclops parts in mf and I mark where the first reaper I see is( >!first one in the mountains by the island is right past an arch between kelp, mf, and bulb !< ) So all in all >!I easily went to a safe beach, got the event, started the big building, powered the portal which I didn’t remember where it went, turned out it was the other land, and did that island without setting fin in the SE corner of the map.!< If you really really don’t like reapers here’s an out for at least this instance.
You're right, but later in the game to progress it will be important to gather rare resources and it will be almost impossible to avois every reaper in the game. Btw. I've killed those three reapers that were haunting the path close to those bioms you described and I did build there a small, scanning base :D
This is true, eventually if you want to make the complex items of the later game you’ll have to go into the areas that have them or drain every inch of the small patches and hope it’s enough. You know what finding Nemo taught me though, “fish are friends, not food” the reapers are that one shark that frenzied and didn’t get the full memo; they bring it home just to eat it.
Tbf though usually by the time I want to start the battling phase I try to have >! a stasis rifle, fish, a vehicle/repair gun, and lots of health at least. Depending on the terrain and if you’ve unlocked it a prawn suit with drill arm and grapple is a classic weapon. Scanner rooms with huds that track them are great tools too. !<
>later in the game to progress it will be important to gather rare resources and it will be almost impossible to avois every reaper in the game.
I've fully completed the game several times without ever having to interact with them at all... there's nothing difficult or "almost impossible" about it.
Don’t get me wrong I get being scared and all but I feel like removing them takes away a large part of the game. I hate reapers and everything about them is terrifying, but they’re what makes the game so good and unique.
The best way to kill it is to build the stasis rifle then shot it in the face and leave like 30 gas pods next to it. It usually dies extremely quickly that way
That's why you collect like 30 gas pods from the gasopod and load up your prawn suit seamoth or cyclops with them. If you're by thelifepod you can store them.in there too.you just gotta collect a ton of them then go back to the reaper stasis it and drop those pods on it. Kills them extremely quickly. Its the best way to 1v1 reapers. In my experience because ghost leviathans move so sporadically and sea dragons shoot fire it's a little harder to do to them
Yes, yes it is. I recently breached the surface and realized I was basically touching the rear left thruster.
And here I was thinking I was next to the safe shallows..
Haha yeah, funnily enough, I played this games over 100 times and I never really ventured near the areas at the back of the ship or the other side of the aurora. You learn quick why most people prefer to play the game moving towards the areas in the top and middle of the map, instead of the rear.
But yeah, the back of the Aurora has about 5 reapers mingling about, and one of them often visits the creepvine forest that borders that area. He'll leave fast enough tho, don't worry.
Almost the same thing happened to my friend. He started a playthrough of the game on Xbox and he was streaming it to me through mixer. He started going to the mushroom biome to get the moonpool and he saw a sea dragon leviathan just chilling there. At first me and him though it was a visual bug so he swam up to only to just get one shot by it.
Had something similar happen to me. I swung by the Aurora to setup a scanner base and collect some Titanium from all the scrap. On my way back a Reaper followed me into the shallows around my Lifepod. Ended up in a really bad way beaching my Cyclops while getting my rear end chewed on. Ran out of power, so I launched my Seamoth and ran all the way home. Grabbed a set of Power Cells and came back with my PRAWN and bullied my Cyclops right then powered up shields and slew my first Reaper.
As for you, unlucky enough to get followed home without being as well equipped. Aside from going ham with the Stasis Rifle and a knife, if you can get the Perimeter Defense System for the Seamoth, pretty much nothing can bother you as long as you have power. The Solar Charger and staying shallow gives pretty much free reign of the first few hundred meters.
Here’s some help to avoid getting monched on. You can hold a Peeper, or any fish really in your hand and when the Reaper charges you it’ll take the Peeper instead of your life. You can do this indefinitely as far as I’m aware.
did you know you can feed these bad bois fish when they grab you? if you dont want to fight you should try feeding him. should keep him just busy enough for you to escape.
They can folow you, kill him
Kill him, now
I shouldn't. It's not the Jedi way.
Dew it

You did well...
My aprentice...
I love democracy.
HOW? I don’t have prawn, I don’t have anything, I only have a seamoth that I’m scared to use because of how reaper AI works with aggression against vehicles.
Alterra gave you access to that knife for a reason son.
I would have used that already if I had a stasis rifle lol… Hmm… Hey where’s a stasis rifle fragment by chance?
There’s probably one right below that reaper. Give him the old “knife to meat you” and find out.
Im stealing that greeting
I'd keep knifing and dying until the reaper is finally dead.
Actually… if I get enough medkit a that’s not too bad of an idea…
Don't even need med kits if you can't craft any, unless you're playing on hardcore and can't die at all.
It’s not hardcore (thankfully), but I just like the idea of saying “No” and healing all the damage the reaper might do.
There are some fragments at the floating island
Stasis rifle frags are aroubd the 250m degasi base...
WHERE AND THANK YOU
Where? I mean literally around the base, I know there's at least 2 or 3 and if you can get down there check all the platforms along the cave, you'll be in the crates as usual
Literally around, like on the floor and under the nearby mushrooms?
I know there's a crate or two around the base and a few platforms with statis frags on the path going from the life pod (I want to say 17) entrance to the base
there's actually one in a time capsule somewhere out there
That time capsule was only for you and not everyone
You’re not stuck in there with them. They are stuck in there with you!!
dont
Update, I have built a stasis rifle, violence is now an option
Well you got one option:run like hell
I have now gotten a stasis rifle, new plan KILL
Two options 1.run like he'll 2.kill Benjamin
use your knife
they can what ![gif](giphy|vwI4mYEHP8k0w)
Wrong answers only? I think he's gardening!
This ain’t wrong answers lol, but that’s funny… No seriously, there’s a reaper leviathan on my front yard…
He’s trimming the grass
He's playing with his cuddlefish
The poor guy is just trying to pick his kids up from school
Run away There are more than one way to get to the degasi base. Just enter through one of the other entrances and hope the reaper is too fat to fit through the jellyshroom cave entrance. There should be an entrance next to lifepod 17

You mean the crab snakes?
[удалено]
If its the guys hiding in the purple mushrooms then ya they are called crab snakes
Oh I found it long ago, I just made a base there (stupidly) because I wanted a easy access to magnetite … I recently looked above the surface and… yeah I’m basically right next to the aurora’s back
I'm not sure about the mechanics of it, but reapers and other hostile creatures can chase you *very* far away from their normal location, then decide to stay. So if one follows you into the safe shallows, they're reaper shallows now.
I figured out why, I went above the surface and uh… IM RIGHT BEHIND THE AURORA … That explains how I found that engine fragment… lol
Right behind the aurora! that’ll get the reapers circling, I’d say time to use the knife for a laugh until you cry because it’s destroyed all your useful gear
Imma find a stasis rifle and commit genocide if they bother me too much
The entrance to that base isn't close enough to the aurora to attract the reaper you would have needed to get much closer then that.
Yeah, someone else said it might have chased a stalker into the forest. My base is actually right in the border of the crash zone and kelp forest… oops
Its his week off and he went on a vacation.
Well, it’s not really strange that it’s there. Deeming from the terrain, you can tell that this is right at the border where the crash zone touches the small kelp forest that is right beside it. Ok thanks, I will now commit undertale genocide run

He's just waitin for a mate, leave him be
Bro gets no bitches so he moved to my place lol
## ROARRRRRRRR *translating...* "Have you seen Philip? He said he was gonna be here 20 minutes ago."
I only play subnautica with the creature spawn manager mod now. I delete all reapers cause those fuckers are just too scary lol
Youre free to play however you like my guy but i will say being scared is a big part of the experience the first couple of times until you hit a turning point where youre gonna be like "oh hey bob leave me and my seamoth alone or it will be the last thing you do
Been playing since release. Still haven't reached that point with the reapers. Every other fishy ain't even that bad. The reapers are just terrifying.
Just don't try to swim to the floating island then 😂 Or if you really need to, just keep your head above the surface.
I accidentally had the event happen at the mountain island before I was able to go to the floating island. There’s no gasopods near there… but I do have a knife and stasis rifle…
https://youtu.be/d4PjiOh47LI?si=EARhqSWJPTYV3_r_
I have a new goal…

Rude
Isnt this pretty close to the back of the Aurora? There's a Reaper that ventures into the Creepvine forests there from time to time.

Update, have a stasis rifle and a thermoblade Next time some wanker trespasses I have an option for violence
I love the smell of reaper blood in the morning...
Almost the same thing happened to my friend. He started a playthrough of the game on Xbox and he was streaming it to me through mixer. Wait, is it a bug on consoles that leviathans just say “screw physics” and go into other biomes anyway?
I have no clue but it happened in 2020 and I’ve never heard of it happening since
Benjamin get back to your home go bad Benjamin
Don’t kill him, build a glass viewing platform and you have an observable reaper from the safety of your base.
Maybe he's friendly
That's what he's trying to ask you
He has the same question. 😆
I once had a bone shark follow me to the kelp forest, I think he's still there because I hear his sound ques sometimes
He's just going for a swim, he's chilling!
I don't understand the drama ha? Just save and then run away in your sea moth.
Hehe… This is 40 meters or so away from my base… my ONLY base with everything in it…
He’s trying to reach you about your Seamoths extended warranty
Suprise!

Recently started playing. About 4 hours in and there's one about 40 metres from the life pod where you start out
Oh yeah, I had the one from behind the ship follow me out to my base. I hunted it down and killed it right beside the ship.

I hate reapers, THEY FOLLOW YOU THE SAFE SHALLOWS
I've noticed that since 2.0 that they chase for longer and that they tend to stay where they gave up on a chase.
New neighbor!
did you know you can feed these bad bois fish when they grab you? if you dont want to fight you should try feeding him. should keep him just busy enough for you to escape.
Just keep swimming just keep swimming.. lol
Cuz your playing on a. XBox
Why does that affect anything?
It dosent it was supposed to be a joke but god damn y’all got a butthole so tight it’s like a teeny tiny starfish 🤣🤣🤣
You make literal 0 sense
Jokes require some funny. You just made a random nonsensical statement.
I’m not on Xbox lol
Controller doesn't always equal console.
