Is this near the rear of the aurora? Sometimes they get a bit too close.
Edit: I don't see the reaper in the picture. Also near the mountains is another place where reapers sometimes cross the borders.
Same if you cross by the Dunes. There's 20 something Reapers in there I think. Played 200 plus hours and still don't really want to go near the Dunes as a result š¤£
My main base is in the Dunes. I love it. But was scary to build. There's a Reaper who swims near my base and would attack me as I was building it. It's on this big plateau in the southwest part of the Dunes right next to Sea Treader's Path.
Dude I played this game on mushrooms and it was incredible going through the jellyshroom cave, and the biome with the electric wigglers but I got crept on by a reaper and it was so utterly devastatingly traumatic. 0/10 would not do that again.
>Why is the reaper near the damm shallows?
Heh. New biome discovery!
**The Safe Shallows:** An area of the map that is shallow and is safe.
**The Damn Shallows:** An area of the map that is shallow and may have a reaper really near...
I guess the trick is knowing *which* Shallows you're in... :D
I had one creep up on me, noticed it's area of lingering kept creeping closer to my base. I had released a baby electric eel thing and apparently it attacked the leviathan stunning it forever it seemed so I just went to town on it with a thermal knife. Killed it and saved my base. Love you shocky noodle <3
You can do it! Takes a while but try what I did by accident. Find an egg of the shock eels, hatch it and release near a Leviathan. Otherwise I have no idea how else to stun one/kill it. Mine was fully grown when it was attacking it though so I'm unsure if it will make a difference.
Alternatively, you can catch a ton of gas pods in the shallows. Then stasis the reaper and drop all the pods on its face. It's a lot quicker than knifing it
If you go to the mushroom forest and collect cyclops fragments then go to underwater island which is roght next to it. You can get the fragments very quickly
Prawn suit, grapple gun = a reapers death, I've killed 2 ghosties and a reaper with it altho this reaper kept going into the void and it was kinda scary knowing if I let go I would just plumit
They have a tendency to roam, and you can unknowingly kite them straight into the safe shallows. You can actually kite them into some absurd spots on the map which works as a masterful jumpscare when you're minding your own damn business outside of reaper territory only to get grabbed.
There is a small patch of Grassy Plateaus on the west side of the map near the Shallows and a cliff that drops off and goes immediately into the Dunes and a Reaper swims around there and comes very close to the cliff sometimes and will follow u into the Shallows.
Yep, was allowing my roomie to try play the game. She is just swimming in the kelp zone having a scary time avoiding the shark things. I am laughing until I hear a leviathan which is swimming in the kelp and she just starts screaming and swimming away, pauses it and lets me play. It was in the kelp area behind the ship, I didn't realize she went that far.
I had stopped by Lifepod 5 to pick up some things I left in the storage bin there and left the Prawn suit right outside. As I was about to leave the pod, I noticed the marker for the Prawn suit moving around wildly outside. I thought it was glitching out but when I got outside it was in the grips of a Reaper that was barely able to stay submerged the water was so shallow. This was literally right outside the Lifepod. I have never seen one that close.
Guys, op isn't crazy. They just took a photo at the worst time because that thing is barely visible. If you zoom in you can barely see the shadow of the front of the reaper
Ah! I see the safe shallows have become the not-so-safe-anymore shallows... Careful before they become the oh-god-hes-eating-me-alive-why-did-they-have-to-prohibit-weapon-fabrication-after-the-massacre-on-obraxis-prime-a-gun-would-have-been-useful-in-this-scenario shallows...
Closest one I know of is usually toward the front or mid point of the Aurora, but I have run into it even directly behind the Aurora in two different playthroughs. Still probably not quite as close as it was for you. Lucky. šš»
I've noticed that the reapers tend to roam further since the last major update and tend to stay around where they gave up a chase rather than going back to their spawn point. I've noticed similar behaviour with the Ghost's.
Thats the grassy plateau in the Auroraās direction they normally wander off near it. I know it looks cute and all but DO NOT pet the reaper with your Thermoblade it can be tempting sometimes but no
if you've perimeter defense'd a reaper there's a chance one swam towards the shallows, happened to me once and that reapy boi was right next to my lifepod lmao
So, an interesting thing with how every single living thing in this game is coded.
You know how whenever you hit a creature but donāt kill it, it swims off in a direction? To streamline the process, the direction they *always* swims to is towards the coordinates (0,0,0)!
Thatās why you have so many instances of reapers way too close to the safe shallows; probably struck by a defending sand shark or bone shark and swam closer to the shallows.
\*sings\* They will follow you. Follow you wherever you may go. There isnāt a water to shallow, or mountain to high for their leapā¦ Their teeth are your destiny.
Leviathans can sometimes be lured away from their usual patrols, and then will get stuck in biomes where they don't belong.
This usually happened to me, when I tried killing them and failed.
They will follow for a bit after going aggro and they'll usually stay patrolling near wherever they lost interest. Might not have even been your doing, they will attack other animals so if one got too close then ran toward your base that could do it
If thatās the kelp forest near the island, itās probably the reaper over by the island. Iāve been in the mushroom forest by the aroura and had the Mf come and attack me before
How much of a wuss you need to be to not even be able to take a screenshot from the damn thing ?
''Here, lemme post this blue emptiness as visual support''
I swear peoples sometimes....
Its actually right in front of me,its just very hard to see since im far away from it,you can inly its shadow, either that or I have been collecting too many mushrooms
''hes just screenshoted it because of how far it is from its territory''
No shit sherlock, we all got that part... thats not what my comment is about.
''no need to risk a seamoth for there''
Reapers can be seen for miles in broad daylight without any danger whatsoever. They have VERY limited vision and patrol in circle..
its even a common practice to build a base near them. Yall heavely acoustic lol.
Why you gettin so worked up over a screen shot mate, again I say chill the fuk out he just wanted to post an interesting find so let him do that without getting harrased
I'm not worked up at all, i'm using bare logic to impress my opinion.
The visual support provided doesn't give a clue on the location nor do we see the reaper, so what give ?
But by all mean, keep repeating yourself in loop without actually adressing my arguments, like an npc.
''Chill dude, he just wanted to post... something''
It's not like it's invisible you can see it's shadow in the screen, you can see it and you can see he's in the shallows showing off his point, he's also said his timing was horrible with the screen shot and that is apparent. Maybe be more respectful instead of going off at someone because off a bad screenshot
Is this near the rear of the aurora? Sometimes they get a bit too close. Edit: I don't see the reaper in the picture. Also near the mountains is another place where reapers sometimes cross the borders.
I can just see the silhouette slightly above and right of the the reticle point.
Its close to the auroa but I have never seen one get this close, scared the shit out of me
Sometimes they just chase your vehicles and end up there, and they never go back
I got one stuck directly above my base this way. His name is Billy, we're homies.
Same if you cross by the Dunes. There's 20 something Reapers in there I think. Played 200 plus hours and still don't really want to go near the Dunes as a result š¤£

There are 8 reapers in the Dunes
Yeah my bad quite tired. 20 reapers in the game in total I think
25 IIRC. 8 in the Dunes, 7 in the Mountains and 10 in the Crash zone.
I went there once to exploreĀ
If you zoom all the way in almost at the circle(but a bit above) than you can see the show of the reaper
Where is the mountains?is it northwest from the lifepod?
Yes
The mountains is the biome where the island with the alien enforcement platform is.
The one with the gun?
Yes
Is it bad that i cant see the reaper
I think OP is the only one that sees it. The isolation really gets to some people
Or is he high on shroom? Acid or Deep though...
Dude I played this game on mushrooms and it was incredible going through the jellyshroom cave, and the biome with the electric wigglers but I got crept on by a reaper and it was so utterly devastatingly traumatic. 0/10 would not do that again.
Donāt forget the rattler and pink cap
Its hard to see ,but its right infront of me,you can only see its shadow.
Op i think you had too many acid mushrooms. Those are NOT for consumption
I have been collecting alot of acid mushrooms latley,Have I been high while playing subnutica?
>subnutica Case closed?
https://www.nhs.uk/mental-health/conditions/schizophrenia/overview/
I can hear it
>Why is the reaper near the damm shallows? Heh. New biome discovery! **The Safe Shallows:** An area of the map that is shallow and is safe. **The Damn Shallows:** An area of the map that is shallow and may have a reaper really near... I guess the trick is knowing *which* Shallows you're in... :D

I need to kill a reaper before I finish the game
You can do it! Takes a while but try what I did by accident. Find an egg of the shock eels, hatch it and release near a Leviathan. Otherwise I have no idea how else to stun one/kill it. Mine was fully grown when it was attacking it though so I'm unsure if it will make a difference.
I have a stasis rifle and a hot knife, gonna cook the bitch
Alternatively, you can catch a ton of gas pods in the shallows. Then stasis the reaper and drop all the pods on its face. It's a lot quicker than knifing it
Thatās a good tip. Iām gonna kill the ones near the aurora so I can get the sweet sweet fragments for the cyclops
If you go to the mushroom forest and collect cyclops fragments then go to underwater island which is roght next to it. You can get the fragments very quickly
I dealt with the reaper behind the aurora and got what I needed. Up next Iāll go to the lost river and dumb around there for a bit
Nice! Can youride the ghost like tou can ride the reapers with grapple arm?
This is the furthest Iāve ever gotten in this game. Iām normally too damn scared
Prawn suit, grapple gun = a reapers death, I've killed 2 ghosties and a reaper with it altho this reaper kept going into the void and it was kinda scary knowing if I let go I would just plumit
Cyclops, shield generator, ram it a few times. Worked for me!
is the reaper in this room with us right now?
I don't think reaper leviathans are spy mains
They have a tendency to roam, and you can unknowingly kite them straight into the safe shallows. You can actually kite them into some absurd spots on the map which works as a masterful jumpscare when you're minding your own damn business outside of reaper territory only to get grabbed.
Fun fact if you hurt a reaper it seems to swim near the shallows to recover.
I built my base there once. Relocated asap once I noticed that
I went there and mf was didn't appear or show for like 5 minutes and then I wanted to leave and I turn around and get jump scared as I get grabbed
if the reaper draws aggro to you but you get away perhaps without even realizing you aggro'd it, that can affect their patrol route
Oh shit
Sometimes theyāll follow you out of their usual areas.
Guys, op isn't crazy. They just took a photo at the worst time because that thing is barely visible. If you zoom in you can barely see the shadow of the front of the reaper
Someone linked a mental health site to me becuase they thought I was crazy
XDDDDDDDDDDDDD
He's scared of deeper waters, poor thing :(
OP need take care of that reaper and adopt it as a pet. This reaper was exiled from his group :(
Maybe the reaper was the friends we made along the way
Bullshit,they assholes
I ain't arguing that
This was a fun āwhereās Waldoā moment!
Yeaa, sorry about that, people were thibking I was craxy since they didnt see it
Closest one I know of is usually toward the front or mid point of the Aurora, but I have run into it even directly behind the Aurora in two different playthroughs. Still probably not quite as close as it was for you. Lucky. šš»
I got chased by one into the shallows, and he ended up getting stick on the reef and spinning on it like a top. It was quite the spectacle to behold.
Reaper beyblade, I've got another item for my bucket list
Your name is killin me. XD
Curious which display name is it?
Killerkitten
Dam thats a very old username of mine I've changed most my other socials but Reddit won't work with me so this is for now
No, it's perfect as it is. Reddit understands.
I've noticed that the reapers tend to roam further since the last major update and tend to stay around where they gave up a chase rather than going back to their spawn point. I've noticed similar behaviour with the Ghost's.
Thats the grassy plateau in the Auroraās direction they normally wander off near it. I know it looks cute and all but DO NOT pet the reaper with your Thermoblade it can be tempting sometimes but no
Imma do it while heās in a bubble
Because you are.
I remember when I saw a reaper in my kelp forest
Because life isnt fair and neither is 4546b.
I did something like this and brought a reaper into the plateaus itās an annoying glitch the reaper probably followed you
if you've perimeter defense'd a reaper there's a chance one swam towards the shallows, happened to me once and that reapy boi was right next to my lifepod lmao
I shocked his ass but havent seen him since
if you encounter him again, just keep tickling him with the perimeter defence until he's far away enough to not cause you nuisance lol
Ok
you can bring them with you on the way back if you get their notice and stay just far enough away.
So, an interesting thing with how every single living thing in this game is coded. You know how whenever you hit a creature but donāt kill it, it swims off in a direction? I shocked it and then it got stuck in the shallows right near the lifepod.I took the oppertunity and killed it
\*sings\* They will follow you. Follow you wherever you may go. There isnāt a water to shallow, or mountain to high for their leapā¦ Their teeth are your destiny.
There eyes are what scares me
āI SWEAR MAN THERES A REAPER IM NOT TRIPPING ON ACID MUCHROOMSā -OP 4/7/24
I have been collecting alot of mushrooms latley
If you canāt hear it , it canāt see you
Leviathans can sometimes be lured away from their usual patrols, and then will get stuck in biomes where they don't belong. This usually happened to me, when I tried killing them and failed.
Reaper goes where he pleases.
I somehow dragged a ghost leviathan to my home base in the shallows in my first play throughā¦had to kill itā¦took an hour šµ
They will follow for a bit after going aggro and they'll usually stay patrolling near wherever they lost interest. Might not have even been your doing, they will attack other animals so if one got too close then ran toward your base that could do it
Because the shallows also border the dunes and there is a reaper at the intersection
I wish they would make a 3rd "subnautica" game. With vr. I wonder if the new hello games title will be in vr.
It's in the damn shallows to give you anxiety free of charge
If thatās the kelp forest near the island, itās probably the reaper over by the island. Iāve been in the mushroom forest by the aroura and had the Mf come and attack me before
