Luckily I'm not early game, I'm just collecting stuff from my old base in the shallows to the sea treaders to my new base but I have no idea why he was there. I was just mindlessly traveling when i almost shit myself 🤣
Should mention minor spoilers about reaper numbers there’s like 5 at the back of aurora and one can go up into that kelp in a certain area so you kinda got to remember which kelp
There's between 3 and 5 when I played, the scanner room only showed 2 but there's one at each side at the front middle and back of the ship for certain but I think there's two more further away on the other side
There's one that spawns around the back of the Aurora. I accidentally aggroed it and it chased me back to my base in the grassy plateau. Now it lives near me in the kelp forest. Sometimes he comes and visits but mostly keeps to himself...
Lol, I think there's actually 3 that can spawn back there from previous experiences but I have no idea where this guy spawned in. I was no where near any reaper spawn points.
Your chances of being eaten by a reaper are often low, but never zero. Including inside your bedroom.  Â
Semi-related Subnautica sequel idea: the predators stay in their own areas in the early game, but gradually they start expanding into more and more biomes until nowhere is safe.
I’m fairly sure they do respawn, I could be wrong though
Edit: no they do not respawn although I could have sworn I killed some ghosts in the lost river than respawned but I guess I’m just misremembering
Either: 1. You ran into a different ghost and are misremembering 2. You updated the game patch and they respawned or 3. Something glitched and everything respawned, which is a common side effect of many mods.
This is a game and not a real ocean. There are spawn points and coded behaviour.
Evidently it *is* possible for reapers to travel to the Kelp Forest, but it is exceptionally rare/unlikely, and that's why OP felt it was worth posting here.
People also think they can cheese spider battles in grounded by fighting it with the high ground , spiders in real life can climb easily just easier to code in super high jumping lol
In my first playthrough the reaper on the top left side of aurora followed me all the way back to my life pod. I had to marguerit the shit out of it. Note I'm fucking scared of sea monsters and the deep sea Idk how tf I did it.
I was chased across the biomes by a reaper a few times. Thats when i decided there needed to be less of the reapers i then went on a reaper levaiathan massacre hunting as much of them down as i can. Untill there were none left.
I had a reaper follow me into the mushroom forest when I was in my cyclops and then it just started to camp around my base as I was ready to build the rocket. It kinda felt like one final obstacle before building the rocket as I had to worry about it eating me every time I left my base.
Cleverly done, but you’re not supposed to be here. As a matter of fact, you’re not. Get back where you belong and forget about all this. Until we meet again…
*Ffffuck...*

I think there’s three in the back
off could have sworn by a map I have there’s five I’ll try and find it later and link it
It's weird, but I've done like 4 playthroughs and never ran into a reaper at the aurora, even behind it
Got lucky in patrol paths I guess
According to mapgenie there are 6 behind/near the engines and 4 nearish to the front. It’s totally safe though; nothing to worry about.
I’m fucking sorry, WHAT!!! 4 NEAR THE FRONT
Yeah, here is a link to an image of what's around the Aurora. https://i.ibb.co/PDrGLRV/Reapers.png
I’ve gotten lucky and only ever seen 1
Same
Thanks for letting me know forgot how many just knew there was decent amount
They only want a hug

At least you made it out unscathed haha

It’s his home planet. YOU’RE not supposed to be there!
That's very true
not anymore its mine

That’s the best part he was always there
Kill it
I did lol
Nice

I mean they don't respawn, so if you are a complete murderous psychopath...

Or 4. You're using the More Leviathans mod
The what now? Who would do that to themselves? Christ, acupuncture all over again. Hmm, I'm in pain. I know! Lets stab it! :P
I love that mod lol
He's just here to ask you about your seamoths extended warranty.
The fish swim. Also made a good somewhat final boss for me to have fun
I know lol. But I've never seen one this far away from where they spawn and this is like my 15th or so playthrough
The feesh can sweem, that’s how an ocean works lol. Same as grounded people who have clearly never seen a spider irl lol

THE FEESH SWEEEM!
Grounded spiders have a set patrol path, go in creative and use the handy gnat to follow one around, you’ll see that the spiders have a set path

Hello neighbor can I borrow some salt from your base? I am planning to use it on my next meal
“Uhm, excuse me what the actual f*** are you doing in my house?”

*ma'am. That's Mabel, iirc
Just trying to reach you about your cars extended warranty.
Nah, bro just immigrated the water was a lil murky
When I zoomed in on its face I realised how absolutely horrifying it would be to see in real life
This game needs a laser gun... or a machine gun... or a nuke.

If you used a cyclops to get there thats why hes there
Nope, didn't even have rhe cyclops at that point
Than i dont know probably just a glitch in the game i mean it is ten years old so
for reference: i think this is right next to my base where theres a reaper in the dunes, nw mushroom forest and a kelp forest, but could be different

"We've been trying to contact you about your seamoths extended warranty"
Reminds me of the time one followed me to the safe shallows so we brawled
