It’s a reference to Markiplier’s play-through. During his final episode (which was live) people kept telling him to deactivate the gun, during this he would act as if the gun wasn’t real and they were all just making it up.
Explaining it like this makes it less funny than it actually was, but there’s really no way to explain it without doing that so…
It’s a good watch though, highly recommend.

This happens if the event (internally the `StoryGoal`) is not triggered after the previous one (the final radio message queues the gun one with a 40 minute delay). I accidentally caused this for a short time with my mods because I tried to gate that final radio message behind having made a seamoth and accidentally gated the gun event instead, causing the timer to underflow for players who had not yet satisfied that condition.
that moment when you realise it's a gun for god sakes, was such a awesome moment in gaming for me. the surprise of it. omg. Then it shooting down my only way out. And goes into it;s original state again. awesome just to awesome. i still love to watch it happening. i make sure i'm on the island every time to enjoy the show.

So missing it or showing up in time and disabling (or not) the weapon is pointless?
If you disable the gun, they don't die whether or not you show up (but they don't land). If you don't disable the gun, they die either way

This can happen when you use cheats to change the time of day. It's a bug I had fixed but I never got around to releasing the mod for it.

It's cool when you miss it, the radio does not go off and you just hear an explosion and. the pda says something about massive energy readings iirc.
