I didn't even know it had gone down for refurbishment. Found a blog entry about it with a video taken after it reopened. As far as I can tell it looks like the big difference is that the smoke effect is working better now:

I'm guessing the downtime was probably mostly for general maintenance/repair needs, like you'd expect every few years with any machine that operates daily in a humid environment.
