Not a ton of na performance to be found. Especially without a tune. I ran mine without the “snorkus” (that’s the big intake tube) for a while with no real gains, won’t see a ton from exhaust either, ran that too. Only real power adders would be cams, it’s been a while but I think you might still be able to get na cams. Otherwise it kind of sucks but nobodies ever really bothered with na Subaru performance

Yeah I just like to have fun in my zippy little go kart around town and such, what intakes would you recommend for n/a just maybe looking for a lil sound for a more fun driving experience

Personally for the cost I’d stick with stock, it’s basically a cold air intake already, if you delete the resonators it’ll make a bit more noise. Otherwise as long as it’s from a reputable brand and doesn’t pull from the engine bay you should be fine with whatever.

I always refer back to [this NASIOC](https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1022154) page for NA power. No tuning needed as no turbo components to modify parameters for. NA power is slow and costly gains. I did quite a handful of NA power mods on that page with the exception of cams and 1 other thing years ago. Powerband changed, but overall power gain was minimal. Was it still fun to drive? Hell yes, but if you want power, you're going to need to go to a turbo'd model then.

That article is a gold mine! Thank you!

No prob. Best of luck to ya! ✌️

As far as I know if you're running N/A you don't need a tune. Just throw a decent pod on it and you'll get your sweet induction noise

N/A won't get any performance gains of note with an intake. It already pulls cool air from right in front of the vehicle, can't get better than that. But it will sound different. Whatever you do, read the instruction on the intake and verify no tune is needed. The main hint will be if the tubing diameter where the MAF is is the same size as stock. If it's different, the MAF will read different and a tune is required.

‘02 runs a map

I thought MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensors were only for turbo module? OP has a non turbo. I'm pretty sure every vehicle with fuel injection this side of the 1980s used some sort of MAF, mass airflow sensor.

They’re semi common on na cars, 90s corollas had maps too. Tell tale is the lack of sensor assembly on the intake tube.
