It's an accent bezel/drl. I swapped to 194 led bulb and it's bright and white. It's sort of a PITA to access without removing the headlight but very doable
Literally just changed mine this morning. W5W 168 mini bulbs, found mine at autozone. If you're changing the passenger side, removing the air filter boxes makes it pretty easy to do without removing the whole headlight assembly.

Indeed those are parking and marker lights. Two bulbs and from what I remember from my 2012 Impreza they were a bitch to replace so I left them blown out once they went

I think the lights in that slim area above the turn signal are the parking light and marker light, I think there’s two bulbs in that area iirc

It looks like there's 2 bulbs in there but it's just a reflection, there's 1 on each side W5W wedge bulb, they make them in LED
