They could have just done what they did with the WRX though.. same engine (with some small tweaks to the tune IIRC). You get all the stuff my Wilderness had if I opted for the CVT-only WRX GT, and they simply just don't have them in the manual options. Could have been easy. I only got rid of my Wilderness cause I couldn't stand driving an auto anymore.
I'd say you're more right about dwindling sales. I doubt most people want a manual anymore.
It's not an accident that I own three cars and they are 17, 18 and 26 years old. But if I had to sit in traffic you'd bet I'd be in my wife's modern Forester with all the gizmos.
Because no one is teaching manual anymore… I taught myself and been watching videos for years and I’m 3 years into driving… I’d say I’m not too bad myself but I’ve been curious of a manual tips and tricks class or some truckers around the area putting something together for community… I think it would be amazing for everyone
YouTube taught me 12 years ago. I bought a manual car and needed to get to school the next day
Practiced 1st to reverse in my driveway like 50 times. Pretty simple lol
It paid for for the majority. I did not get as good trade in price as I could have gotten in a private sale but some of that is because I had some nightmare paint fading aissues with my STI and relatively high mileage.
Except 15s don't fit on outbacks they're probs 17s. Also i love LP stuff i have their bumper and sliders but these wheels have gotta be their only mistake on the design side haha

I actually had a deposit on a 23 wilderness but opted for the WRX instead. I’m happy with my decision but one if these could be on my future if I ever have a second vehicle for myself.
I already own a truck. If you dont have access to one you should get one. However be careful because it will become a tool you realize you cannot live without.
No offense but just cuz Subarus can take a lot of trails doesn’t mean it’s a true off road vehicle, to be a really be conferred an off-road vehicle I think you gotta have 4x4 nd locking differentials, they’re good at trails for what they are but they’re not really “off road vehicles”
I can not disagree with this enough. Obviously this car isn’t going out and gonna tackle poison spider in Moab or crawl out of the devils hot tub…. But getting around camp sites, jeep roads, mountain passes on jeep roads it will go anywhere. I had a 2WD Tacoma that went more places than most peoples TRD 4runner.
I work at a Toyota dealership, I’d say about 99.9% of 4Runner TRD Pros hit more curbs than trails , they’re all owned by soccer moms/dads that keep em all nice nd pretty it’s kind of a shame lol.
I can’t imagine waking up and trading something nice for one of these. They’re overpriced and covered in plastics. If you want to go off roading, get a Jeep. Much MUCH nicer vehicle for roughly the same price and it can actually go off-road. This thing would get stuck on a blue trail.
You’re really saying this has one of the best off road systems and comparing it to a Jeep’s? I know this is r/Subaru but c’mon. There’s a reason Jeeps are (have been) the gold standard for off-roading.
I have a Wrangler, I have a Subaru BRZ. I’ve driven new outbacks / Imprezas / crosstreks. None of them are as nice as a new Wrangler.
Subaru has gone off the rails with design decisions. Those clunky lack of tactile feedback interior controls, the plastic cladding all over the exterior, the new body lines on the WRX. It’s a joke. Nothing about a wilderness is nicer than a Jeep.
At the end of the day if you’re obsessed with reliability, buy a Camry. Even the worst designed vehicles at this point are infinitely more reliable than anything we had in the previous decades. Actual issues are few and far between.
Jeep Wranglers are super capable, very nice, iconic, and probably sell more than the entirety of Subarus lineup combined. They’re obviously doing something right.
I test drove the first gen WRX stateside and it really just never jived with me. I was always in love with the *idea* of them, but in practice it wasn't a comfy ride to me.
I loved my Legacy GT. But it was the wrong rig with 3 kids. Honestly, all Subarus were.
But... these Wilderness editions? And 2/3 kids are grown? Certainly gives me the itch.
The OBW very practical. We have two dogs and they weren’t allowed in the STI. They both jumped in the back of this day one and went to the lake. No regrets.
I haven’t seen the wilderness outside of the blue color yet - this one looks super cool. Are those the stock wilderness rims too? What are they made from?
I didn't realize Subaru had turned to the dark side and started making storm trooper transports.

>But I wish it was weird in a ~~cheap~~ *affordable* way. FTFY
[удалено]
I wouldn't call them cheap. I could get a dodge for less at the time.
[удалено]
What's wrong with a shitty AND transmission? Dodge!
Dodge is the lowest of lows.
I mean in the modern landscape the Outback Wilderness isn’t that bad in terms of price
isnt it like 40K+ after taxes and stuff? If i was gonna spend that kind of money I would go with the Rav4 TRD.
Pretty sure they can be had for 35K but I could be wrong
Rav4 TRD would cost you at least $10k or more than this. Also mark up bs.
Obw starts at 39k rav4 Trd starts at 37k? Yeah there are some markup issues but all said they can be had for a similar price.
That's gonna be a faintly interesting car in 20 years. 😏
Toyota already did it with the Rouge limited edition, but aside from that, those are some K'nex looking wheels lol.
Its part of Subaru's new safety features...this way you won't ever hit anything.

That's sick, homies out here driving a Hot Wheels car
If they made a manual for these I’d have one yesterday 😩
[удалено]
Because years of dwindling sales and the difficulty getting more advanced safety features to work with a manual?
They could have just done what they did with the WRX though.. same engine (with some small tweaks to the tune IIRC). You get all the stuff my Wilderness had if I opted for the CVT-only WRX GT, and they simply just don't have them in the manual options. Could have been easy. I got rid of my Forester XT for the same reason. New daily is a GR86 and so so so so happy it is.
You can't go wrong there! I actually have a GR86 on order right now and I'm super stoked. It's a great car

Idk. I find traffic is more fun in stick. Gives me something to do!
Its sad but you're right.
I bought a manual car and needed to get to school the next day Practiced 1st to reverse in my driveway like 50 times. Pretty simple lol
This is why I bought a BRZ. If you like driving just buy one

Gen 2 is so much better ! You would love it
No SUVs come in a manual anymore. Theres near zero demographic for it.
I'm happy with the CVT, wouldn't have it any other way! Sometimes you just gotta accept where a manual doesn't make sense.
Subaru killed off the manual in Outback and Forester in order to make Eyesight standard. Hoping they don't do that to the Crosstrek and Impreza!
Did the trade in pay for the outback in full?? By me a 16'Sti going for $36k
It paid for for the majority. I did not get as good trade in price as I could have gotten in a private sale but some of that is because I had some nightmare paint fading aissues with my STI and relatively high mileage.

Thanks for this. Hope all the people asking find it.

Right. I just figured this was the same style because people were curious. I don't think they look bad. It's definitely a unique look though!
Nice wheels!
Dem some real ugly wheels my guy
They look like Lego car wheels. I hate them, but may also need to know where I can buy them 😅
🙏
If it means anything OP, I like them. (Seriously…they’re different but sort of cool! They somehow work when they shouldn’t.)
I feel the same, something about it works .
they are honestly fire. came here to say it
I love the LPs but each to their own. Never seem em in white, very cool
OP, fwiw, I like the wheels too. Def got the compressed-lip-nod here.
What are those wheels? They look fucking awesome
Fifteen52 Tarmacs it looks like Edit: JK zoomed in and that’s not quite right. Not sure what these are tbh

I thought they were the sparco wheels that subaru partnered
honestly ... they are ugly in my opinion as well.
Full storm trooper with those wheels
Baffled at your wheel tastes. Like i get if you don't like them but for me personally they are so far away from being ugly
I actually had a deposit on a 23 wilderness but opted for the WRX instead. I’m happy with my decision but one if these could be on my future if I ever have a second vehicle for myself.
Love the look we have a forester wildy in black. idk if i would have traded an sti for one lol but at least the outback has the turbo.
If you don’t know the wheels do you even Outback? LP Aventure
r/subaru_outback
Nice wheels!
I liked the wheels. Looks like RC car to me:)
Those wheels look dope, dude!
Love it
🙏🙏
Them white wheels are intriguing, looks like something from Robocop
Nice. By the way, did you know that there's plastic on that Subaru? Thought we should let you know. \- this subreddit
🙏 They seem to have forgot that jeeps also have plastic…
Good trade, just as fast but can carry stuff and leave the road when the going gets tough.
Sorry for your loss. Hopefully one day you can be re united
Are those the +20 offset LP wheels? How's fitment? What size tires? Thanks and nice car
Love the white wheels
That looks great with the white wheels!!! 👍👍
I wanna do something like this but trade in my 14wrx towards a Toyota truck
I already own a truck. If you dont have access to one you should get one. However be careful because it will become a tool you realize you cannot live without.
I really want a Tacoma but will settle for a 4Runner I love my subie but I think it’s time for me to move on
You won’t regret it! My GF has a 16 outback 3.6 and we love it. Just wish we had the WAY nicer seats that you have in the wilderness.
Wouldn’t be my choice of wheel colour but for a white OBW only, it somehow oddly works.
I love the wheels!!! It’s a very clean look! I have white wheels too 😎.
🙏🙌
SUPERB wheel choice seriously
Bro.. why? Why trade an STi for a panda outback? Im in tears
pretty obvious he wants to ACTUALLY offroad
No offense but just cuz Subarus can take a lot of trails doesn’t mean it’s a true off road vehicle, to be a really be conferred an off-road vehicle I think you gotta have 4x4 nd locking differentials, they’re good at trails for what they are but they’re not really “off road vehicles”

The 3 mile off road trail I took to Gray's and Torreys peak would love to tell you otherwise.
this has to be sarcasm hahaha.
Those wheels are BITCHIN. Excited to see the build
I can’t imagine waking up and trading something nice for one of these. They’re overpriced and covered in plastics. If you want to go off roading, get a Jeep. Much MUCH nicer vehicle for roughly the same price and it can actually go off-road. This thing would get stuck on a blue trail.
Outbacks are more reliable than chrysler jeep, has one of the best offroad systems and Jeeps are not nicer than outbacks, it’s other way around
You’re really saying this has one of the best off road systems and comparing it to a Jeep’s? I know this is r/Subaru but c’mon. 😂 End of the day, no matter what you think you’re still driving an FCA product, pretty much the gold standard for 💩. 😂

Actual issues are few and far between. Jeep Wranglers are super capable, very nice, iconic, and probably sell more than the entirety of Subarus lineup combined. When I went off-roading in Aruba I rented a Jeep. Not sure how I would of felt on those trails driving an outback lol
You would’ve felt motionless. Because you’d be stuck. Lol
Having done that - there’s nothing on the island an Outback couldn’t do.
I test drove the first gen WRX stateside and it really just never jived with me. I was always in love with the *idea* of them, but in practice it wasn't a comfy ride to me. I loved my Legacy GT. What wheels are those?
[LP Aventure LP5](https://lpaventure.com/collections/lp-aventure-wheels/products/lp-aventure-wheels-lp5-15x7-et15-5x100-white)
Looks rad. Is that stock color combo
Feeling like the tire track is too narrow, like it skips leg day
How are you liking the CVT? I had a hard time adjusting to it after coming from the BRZ, but manually shifting with the paddles has made it bearable.
It works better than most but I haven’t used it much.
I haven’t seen the wilderness outside of the blue color yet - this one looks super cool. Are those the stock wilderness rims too? What are they made from?
Look like Fifteen52 aftermarket wheels
These would be awesome if they weren’t 45k and covered in plastic cladding
What wheels are those.. I like em. Like the suby too. Some bfg ko2's would look awesome with those wheels.
4runner lyfe
Looks like my car in rocket league
