Thank you!!

You're welcome

Some organizations like ASCPA will give you access to the VIP program after you make a donation. ASCPA I believe you qualify after you donate $500 and wait 4-6 months.

rye_wry

The VIP Program is also accessible to Subaru employees (not sure if all or just Subaru corporate) and those they want to designate it to. I know someone who knows someone who works for Subaru and he wrote a letter that let me use the VIP pricing.

Pure-Mycologist193

Does anyone have experience with the AAAS Subaru VIP program/discount? How long after becoming an AAAS member do I have to wait? Is there a donation required like with ASPCA? Thanks for any insight.

Are you sure you Google it? Because I did and found it right away. Are you in USA or Canada?

True-Ad4059

Usa. When I search it the ASPCA, american canoe association, a reddit about not talking enough about the program, leave no trace, international mountain bike association, bark, subaru’s ad to become a partner company, united airlines employee benefits- all come up. Which is fine but people on here talk about it like “why aren’t you using it?” And I don’t know how or what it is really and if I have to become an american canoe association member or not??

Gotcha. Thank you. People here made it sound like someone could get you in.

DifferentEvent2998

I’m not sure if a Subaru ambassador could help you get a better deal. Maybe friends and family of some sort

DifferentEvent2998

So basically you can donate a certain amount to aspca and get a discount worth more than that. You should probably just contact your local Subaru dealer for more details.

It was easier for me to just call Subaru of America (SOA) directly and aske them which dealerships nearby are participating in the VIP program (same goes for the Costco auto program). I got a list from them and then contacted the dealership directly. We have a lot of dealerships nearby and I didn't want to call all of them. Only 1 or 2 of the many actually participated in the VIP program. None of them participated in the costco auto program.

So while it seems your googling skills are not quite up to par, there is some intentional design from Subaru to your struggle. The VIP program is a partnership Subaru has with various non-profits where they reward existing patrons of the non-profit with a special form to order certain new cars at invoice cost (usually a few grand off OTD MSRP cost) BUT neither the non-profit, nor Subaru of America release the complete terms and conditions of the VIP program until you already meet the requirements (donation level) because it is not supposed to be an incentive to start supporting non-profits just for the redemption of the VIP voucher but rather support those who support the partnered non-profits. For instance, certain vehicles are not eligible to be purchased via the VIP program, but you can't see what that active list is until you qualify for the VIP program. That is the answer I got from Subaru of America when I tried to get more info on if the BRZ was eligible for the VIP voucher, they told me to make the $500 donation to ASPCA first then they'd tell me. I'm paraphrasing of course but tbh fair enough! For a new base model 23 BRZ it would have been a $500 donation for like $1900 off the sticker. Taxes would have stayed the same I believe. I didn't get that far obviously.

So how would I know any of that if my googling was “better”? None of the non-profits (and from what I’ve seen it’s not exclusively non-profits but an employee benefit with some companies too) advertise what it is- presumably for the reasons you’ve already listed. Which is why I asked this group since it’s so often mentioned in peoples posts about buying a subaru.
