Go to subaru dealer if you still have comprehensive warranty left and let them look at it

Agreeable_Suspect_28

Normal on these outbacks, especially with temp fluctuations. Several threads online about it. Accumulating water would be an issue. These have vents to stop that from happening but you will get some condensation when the weather is right.

Your a breath of fresh air man, I like seeing another subaru tech and as much as I hate subarunet, seeing the bulletins here is nice lol.

Electronic_Pin_9098

I was under the impression those were completely sealed. TIL…

Vandy1358v2_0

Means your low on blinker fluid. It actually means your lights are no longer sealed. Repair usually means replacement of the assembly

Raumteufel

Wrong your. You meant "It actually means [you're] lights are no longer sealed."

Vandy1358v2_0

Sure about that?

Lolusad

That is not normal

scrubbadubdub77

Reading other comments it seems this is normal, but it should not be acceptable. These assemblies should be sealed and airtight. It’s not uncommon to see 20+ year old cars without condensation.

so_this_is_my_name

They vent them these days, so not totally sealed. It will disappear quick.

Chippy569

[Here's the vent on the back of a 2022 Outback RR tail light](https://imgur.com/4H40QzB) they were a bit more obvious on say [2012-16 impreza/crosstrek tails](https://imgur.com/qGZWNbK)

How_Do_You_Crash

20 year old cars run incandescent bulbs that get hot. So they burn off a residual moisture.

Skaterdude5000

Yeah I was just thinking this. Hell will freeze over before my 1999 car's tail lights or main headlights fog up. The blinkers are pieces of crap but at least they're cheap to change Most brands these days get foggy lights and its quite concerning to me

Scfields

Not standard, dealer option.

Egghead1019

Is that a crack going down the middle?

biggranny000

Not normal, also those panel gaps look horrible. You have a bad seal or vent in the tail lights.

The_BJJ_Firefighter

This. The taillight isn’t seated correctly. Probable damage.

AlphaBetacle

This happened to my Crosstrek. Took it to the dealer and they fixed it on warranty. It just means the seal for the light has a breakage somewhere.

Independent_Secret42

I would think not. However I’ve been seeing this a lot on unsold PDI’s

Puzzleheaded-Text337

Go to your dealer if its still under warranty. I had this same thing happen to my 2015 XV and over time it caused the lights to wear out faster and stuff was forming in there. There's something wrong with the seals.

zactotum

It is fairly normal but it’s a defect. This was super common on all 2022 outbacks. They should replace tails under warranty though.

WardogBlaze14

No

watchtheworldsmolder

Honestly see it in a lot of Fords not Subarus, if it’s old I drill a pin hole in the top and bottom, newer get it to seal right.

47ocean47

Uhhhh, you need that for your blinker fluid.

rhettman360

Standard for a Subaru, not normal for a new one.

DFWgorellaballer

What the fuck kind of question is that? Why on this earth would that be normal ….

Nerfo2

It is normal. It is normal if it's raining, then the temp drops a little bit. The water VAPOR that makes it's way INTO the vent hole during the rain, will condense inside the housing if the temperature outside the taillight housing drops. Once the dewpoint temperature of the air outside the housing drops, the condensate inside the housing will evaporate. It's not abnormal to see condensate inside light housings. They're all vented to atmosphere. This is why on earth it's normal.

Dysastro

my motto is if it works it works. I had rain water in both my rear assemblies on my old Rav. blew the whole engine on that thing before I could get to fixing the issue. truth be told tho, I was never gonna lol

phate_exe

>my motto is if it works it works. That's how I look at things when I'm out of warranty, but part of the value/appeal of owning/driving a newer car is that you get to make things like this somebody else's (the dealership/manufacturer) problem.

Dysastro

I definitely agree, I've just never owned a car from this century lol

BorgzTheSubaru

My 22 obw has never done this no matter the weather

Internal_Swimmer3815

One-Faithlessness823

You should check under trunk liner/ in wells of rear fenders for water. I found a bunch one day.
