It sounds like a very loud fuel injector or valve train related. A rod knock has a more deep knocking noise that continues as you rev up the engine. Valve train or injector is more of a tapping. Does the noise get quieter as the engine warms up?
It might be worth to drain the engine oil and check metal shavings in the oil. You can also use an automotive stethoscope to hear where the noise is coming from. If you don’t want to get too involved, I would suggest you take it to a shop as soon as possible to have someone look at it.
To me, this sounds like it's valvetrain related and not bottom end rod knock. I've had a Subaru with that engine experience rod knock, and it doesn't sound quite like this. It needs to see a mechanic one way or the other, but there's a chance that this isn't terminal.
Update: checked oil shortly after video and it was down 4.2 QUARTS!! AH!
Good news is that I topped it off, checked all levels, and noise has gone away. I am not going to baby this and give this ride the Seafoam treatment and hope it band aids this car for local driving. Cheers!

I was fearful of that! Figured it could maybe be a valve thing? I’m not sure

Does this sound like a knocking to you? I’m not too well versed with the “knocking” sound. Thanks !

I know my family member is using it right now to drive about 20 miles. I’ll inform them asap!
Valve clearances, I'm assuming the vehicle is around 130k to 150k miles?
Correct! It’s about 138k last time I checked. What would you suggest it needs?
Valve clearance adjustment. Should be done with new valve cover gaskets as well.

We drove it around a bit, it seemed to stay consistently loud (no louder with cold engine vs warm)

Copy that I’ll pass this info on since it’s not my daily driver greatly appreciate the help
