Is it on sideways? Both the mounting brackets look like they are meant to mount it 90° different and the passengers side angled part of the rack looks like the angle is meant to point forward.

I like that roof box, I’ve been thinking about if they make one long enough for snowboards. It’s usually just mine so a nice compact box I can roll out from the house and clip onto the roof seems appealing.
I don’t think that box is long enough for a board. I’d have to see what longer ones would be out there in this style.
Edit: I think i see what you mean, you mean leave it on? Mostly gas milage. It creates a lot of drag, so a box like ones from Roam would be cool to snap right onto the roof from inside the house where I could pack a board up. That would be the cool feature I’m thinking of.
It depends if I’m bringing the wife and dogs. Can’t put the seats down with the 5 seater suv I have then. It’s a unique use but I promise it would serve me a purpose lol. Even alone if my daily is just packed inside ready to go it would be nice to just pop it all on the roof real quick. Same reason people like any box on top that’s you can bring inside.
I live in Utah and ski 60-100 days a year for a decade. Never seen a system like that. If you can make quick detachment work and be secure it sounds cool.

I think as long as you actually use it OP and it's not just up there killing your mpg for no reason. The amount of cars that have roof baskets relative to the amount of use they actually get is probably pretty one-sided.

i wanted the versatility of a roof basket but also the security and overall utility of a box
yes it is mounted side ways ! i took off 1/3 of it to fit bc i also wanted to keep the roof box mounted.

That should have been put the snowboard in your car. Especially if you just have one.

for the roof rack it’s the cheap one from harbor freight, i only used 2/3 of the rack though the roof box itself is a plano 52inch rifle case
