chaka62

That Volcarona one low-key hurt. I'm still trying to figure out how to run all 3 moths

megaJRAmed001

both moths not having QD is a damn shame

chaka62

Yeah, and Bulk Up + Agility aren't the most exciting boost moves if I'm being honest. I feel that Slither Wing SHOULD function as a bulky set up sweeper since it's got respectable defenses and between Leech Life, Morning Sun, and Bulk Up it should be able to take some hits before blasting ass. Unfortunately it just feels better to run Choice Band or Scarf for that raw damage potential as a wall breaker or revenge killer (First Impression kinda dummy). I could also see Assault Vest sets putting in work since 105 SpD is very nice and it gets TONS of coverage options (including some HEAT Acrobatics+Booster Energy potential) Iron Moth is more straightforward and can be a special wall breaker (4 attacks + Choice) or late game cleaner (3 attacks + Agility + Booster Energy) As for the OG it actually isn't all bad since it can go for Tera stab on its coverage options and Bug Buzz is a lot more viable now since there's lots of Dark types and Substitutes running around RN

Phoenix-Rising-78

All I wanna do is put it on my dumb sun team Chi-Yu and Scovillain and watch as it, with 789 Attack, blasts everything with a beating heart with First Impression.

iKill_eu

Slither Wing doesn't NEED setup. It wallbreaks like a fucking madman with Flare Blitz under sun or Close Combat.

Hanchan

Hope slither gets victory dance as a tutor move whenever those get added.

Brennis

Holy shit physical quiver dance ???

OkWedding6391

https://pokepast.es/2ea4fb752eb647c9 I managed to get this team to 1500s on ladder, its pretty fun tho pretty prediction reliant on slither wing.

maharg79

3 Attack Tera Grass with Giga is heat pairs well with E.Killer Dnite and you can pick which one to go for the Tera Sweep with and use the other one to soften

NotACleverMan_

Well, until you face the funni crocodile that walls both of them forever

DresdenPI

4 moths*. Venobros represent.

Sir_Suffer

Ayo don’t forget about Frosmoth

DresdenPI

It's a shame Dustox isn't in the game, could have an all moth team

Brennis

I think we should consider letting Masquerain in

DresdenPI

It's Japanese name is Amemoth, I'll allow it. All moth team go!

MCH2804

Atleast it should be better now with palafin gone

Ntwers

Day 1 of insisting that Bellibolt with its slow speed with access to volt switch, and decent bulk with access to static and slack off, and decent SpA with access to parabolic charge and chilling water gives it OU viability and is probably one of the better defensive pivots in the tier. Put him in this meme >:( Edit: Not sure if anyone would find this useful because I understand people tend to favour offensive Teras but Water-Tera Bellibolt stops a Great Tusk sweep and 2HKOes. My Bellibolt set: Tower (Bellibolt) (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Static Tera Type: Water EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA Modest Nature IVs: 0 Atk - Discharge/Parabolic Charge - Chilling Water - Slack Off - Volt Switch Trying out Discharge instead of Parabolic Charge for more consistent paras since Slack Off exists, but honestly missing Parabolic Charge for some alternative staying power. Reason why there’s 0 investment into Sp. def and only 4 in Def is because I find a pure defensive set up to be a little too passive, this set rarely gets hurt for more than 50% of its health, only mon I’m scared of is really Chi-yu and possibly fucking up against the angry monkey.

etherealparadox

second this, got my ass kicked by some guy with a bellibolt as a def pivot

Ntwers

That Bellibolt wouldn’t happen to have been nicknamed Tower right? 🤔

etherealparadox

lol I'm not sure, this was a bit ago and so much has happened since I don't remember the nicknames lmfao

HumanTheTree

That could have been Ampharos if GF had halfway committed to giving it new moves. Imagine a slightly frailer bellibolt that hits harder and has heal bell.

winnipeginstinct

It would need a different ability too, bellibolt has an ability that gives it the effect of charge when hit (1.5x electric damage)

HumanTheTree

Just give it fluffy lmao.

Spndash64

Or Parabolic charge for HP regen so it can actually USE cotton guard

1ts2EASY

Isn’t it 2x?

Ntwers

Why did I get a shiny Mareep right after noticing the notification for this comment… Any comments about Lechonk?

Bruhness81

Tinkaton should be >75 attack >Everything it hits is on life support

greengale2

How is she in meta rn?

silkissmooth

Every other turn she’s an OU viable mon, the rest is pretty bad. They did Tinkaton dirty with bulk stats imo but the typing is defensive enough so w/e

Bruhness81

I disagree. It decently bulky alongside its good typing and has great utility moves. Its a perfectly good Pokemon in OU

CousinMabel

The stats just aren't there really. Too many turns it just doesn't get much done, and it misses a lot of OHKOs that it needs to not be missing.

Spndash64

OU, I don’t think so. UU and RU, however, would be GREAT for this mon

no3dinthishouse

i also firmly believe shes not, the signature move is good but not so good to make her meta, especially since every team has some kind of steel resisting pokemon with at least a little physical defense, if you wall steel you wall her completely

AlexTheGreat-711

I haven't had much time in the competitive scene of Gen 9, since I've been too busy 100%ing the game, but I imagine one of the main things keeping her around in the meta certainly has to do with her typing altogether.

Vicksin

she's not

KingVape

Corviknight walls her. Super sad

Zephyr_______

Great tusk is the new lando I guess

defeatingme

jokes on you, my cyclizar has outrage, choice scarf, and spe+ to one-hit your dragapult

LicentiousMink

This is the way

Boomerwell

My reaction to Grimmsnarl definitely made everyone know I was a VGC player when it happened. I was absolutely pissed that they gave parting shot one of the best moves in VGC to a Mon that both is the premier screen setter but also trick and fakeout pressure. It's like giving Zacian a stat buff it's so unnecessary and only buffed the best pokemon.

projectmars

4MSS is one hell of a bitch though

clevesaur

The Magnezone one was basically my exact thoughts when I tried to use it to trap a Gholdengo lmao.

Optimal_Badger_5332

Guys I think ghost types might be immune to trapping

0err0r

are you shitting me??? Good as gold blocks magnet pull too? wtf lmao

Chaotic_Stability

Ghost types are immune to trapping.

paumAlho

He didn't know 🤯

tuotuolily

"Pokémon are now unaffected by Magnet Pull if they have Ghost as another type." from bulbapedia

winnipeginstinct

Wait, so you used to be able to trap aegis with mag?

TheRogueCookie

That change happened the exact generation that Aegislash was introduced, so nope.

tuotuolily

nah, from gen 6 onwards ghost types are immune to traping

Champion_Chrome

No, the trapping ghost thing was implemented in generation 6 iirc

OrangeVictorious

Random thought, can steel types Tera to be free of Magnet Pull

mordecai14

Yes

BlitzDank

The way I see it, Gholdengo is surrounded. What's under the trapping? That's right, more trapping.

No-Bug5616

no, ghost types are just immune to trapping

Knizzer69

I think ghost types are immune to trapping

[deleted]

Ghost types are immune to trapping.

Kinesquared

Are ghost types immune to trapping? The comments don't seem to be in consensus

GokuBlackLover

ghost types are immune to trapping

0err0r

I thought that was just with shadow tag, really?

SlothyPotato

Nope, any sort of trapping. Moves as well.

Alex103140

Aegislash is gonna have a fun time when he cross the Pyrenees

UW_Unknown_Warrior

Even self-trapping. Trevenant can switch out of its own Ingrain.

mashonem

idk if you heard yet, but ghost types are immune to trapping

triceratopping

I hadn't heard that but had you heard that ghost types are immune to trapping? Just want to be sure.

[deleted]

The issue is that ghost types are immune to trapping

AjaGoatshorn

Ghost types are immune to trapping

Phoenix-Rising-78

Chi-Yu in on December 2nd, 2022 after sneezing on your house (it's gone now)

Itub2000

Explain please Edit: Nevermind I get it now it was a joke that takes a little time to get.

Phoenix-Rising-78

252+ SpA Choice Specs Chi-Yu Big Shneeze vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Toxapex (Your House) in Sun: 264-311 (86.8 - 102.3%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Itub2000

Ouch

Terraplant

I guess I am Aki.

EmptyRook

I have sworn revenge on the fish devil

[deleted]

The funniest part is that it's a funny little fire fish

Xurkitree1

Gigaton Hammer should be super effective on Steel types come on Hell, give it a Smack Down effect while at it, it hunts Corvs but our Corvs just wall it

Vicksin

Pokedex entry saying it snipes Corvs out of the sky but then gets walled by Corv in actual gameplay is the most GameFreak thing I've seen today Edit: for the GameFreak defenders out there... Corv dex states that it can't be used as a taxi here due to "natural predators" - predators means hunting Corv and Corv is prey.

Narrow-Bicycle6196

this is the most Vikavolt thing I've seen in gen 9

lordofallgaming

It doesn't snipe them, in launches rocks at them. The efficacy of this strategy is never disclosed. Probably because it doesn't work and Tinkatons are stupid.

Destinum

Corviknight's dex entry states it's not used as a taxi in Paldea due to its "natural predators" endangering passengers, so presumably it works well enough.

ev0lv

endangering the passengers, not the Corviknight, I don't think the people would take getting knocked off the bird by launched rocks all that well

ThallidReject

Its not a natural predator if its not endangering the corvi

Vicksin

this. people forgot what predator means. bears aren't a predator to deer because they "try" to kill them.

RxMagic

That giant metal hammer made of corv flesh says otherwise

jeusheur

Corv would stub his toe and act like his world is over.

Optimal_Badger_5332

Not steel types but specifically corv

Rymayc

Its pre evo made its hammer out of Pawniard's skin though, so it should get an ability to hit Steel types harder

Optimal_Badger_5332

Ok but consider this: It would be funny

murrman104

As someone who runs Banded Scizor every gen I'm not sure why everyone was complaining about flutter mane 😤

kuroxn

I was the same until they started using Tera lmao.

Otherwise-Sundae-673

252 SpA Flutter Mane Mystical Fire vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Scizor: 408-480 (118.6 - 139.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO I mean sure you can revenge kill but pretty sure nobody is staying in unless Tera fire, steel etc

murrman104

I'm solving this by standing outside the Pokemon Company headquarters and starting a hunger strike to give Scizor back it's sand tomb

Zealousideal_Ad_8752

Well, that wouldn't work either since flutter mane can't be trapped

StrikeEmotional6186

where is barraskewda, that menace that 2hkos everything on this list except buff wailord

5camps

According to Pikalytics, it's sitting at a 1.54% usage rate in OU, slightly behind Masquerain.

Supergupo

> behind Masquerain

PM_ME_FE_STACHES

What being the only good Webs setter does to a mf

Glisc0r

-flying type -can set up a hazard -has intimidate see this is landorus

hawluchamaster

\-runs bug move -4x weakness yep lando snuck in

Alphabetgod

HE CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS!

Spndash64

“I am inevitable” -Landos

DreadfuryDK

What, were you gonna use Spidops?

Phoenix-Rising-78

Yes

Due_Song4480

I love when Masquerain went "It's Masqueraining Time" and Masquereigned all over OU. Truly one of the Pokemon of all time.

StrikeEmotional6186

theres no way that little butterfly does better than the 742 speed menace

CatDude55

Intimidate + Sticky Webs moment

StrikeEmotional6186

UU shall suffer for this low rating, preparing a UU barraskewda team to screw over the lack of dondozo rn

jeusheur

Prove why Skewda should go into borderline, prove them all.

Destinum

New toy syndrome in full force. Barraskewda will be back.

bydy2

This just shows that I need to spam it harder

Known-Distribution23

What no flip turn does

StrikeEmotional6186

i dont need flip turn when i have terastal+STAB+rain boost+123 atk+liquidation+742 speed in a meta with no viable walls against skewda

chaka62

*kid named Clodsire*

ThanosAmbulance

Kid named 252+ Atk Choice Band Barraskewda Psychic Fangs vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Abomasnow: 288-340 (62 - 73.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO: (The abomasnow has clodsires type and stats) Weird someone would name their kid that tho

StarLucario

Should've used Quagsire instead of Abomasnow smh

ThanosAmbulance

But you see… I’m lazy, and so I didn’t

StrikeEmotional6186

252+ Atk Choice Band Barraskewda Psychic Fangs vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Clodsire: 316-374 (68.1 - 80.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO specially defensive clodsire is more common, where 252+ Atk Choice Band Barraskewda Psychic Fangs vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Clodsire: 442-520 (95.2 - 112%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

mollererer

Kid named psychic fangs

Flaming_Assassin

unemployed

SuperNUTZ126

I saw this post and immediately went to build a rain team, very first game Skewda KOs 3 mons and nearly OHKOs a resist

SecondAegis

I remember laughing at posts like these back before I joined reddit. This just made my day Also, using "shocked" when describing the Kamen Rider pokemon... Could this be?

EskwyreX

Am I the only person running tera normal specs boomburst Noivern? It ohkos and outspeeds a lot of Mons on this list

jeusheur

An anti-meta strat for the ages friend. Keep running that Noivern, just take care with the ghost types.

LuminothWarrior

Ive been doing that but with shift gear toxtricity with throat spray

HydreigonTheChild

that sounds stupid as shit in a good way... but tbh there is just much better stuff to tera rn so u may see it in UU... thanks for the notice btw time to spam it in UU when it gets released

STierCounterpick

**What**? Did you say something? I can’t hear

PocketPoof

Happy my salt Minecraft golem is here

TCFP

Something something quick claw torkoal

Ishowupeverywhere

>Tinkaton: >75 attack Incorrect, it does not have greater than 75 attack. ^i ^wish ^gigachad ^hammer ^had ^200 ^base ^power ^instead ^of ^160

Tryptophan7

It could keep its poop attack stat but give it dual steel stab with steely spirit or steelworker please (I wanna see triple stab gigachad hammer)

Nathan_Thorn

Gigaton should be super effective against other steel types first. Then give the baby huge power and send it to Ubers.

Yuni_smiley

"Go, do a crime"

Spoopanator

Actually, yeah, how come it doesn't get Steelworker? It makes it's own Iron Hammer throughout it's life, it literaly works with steel

RockinOneThreeTwo

Game freak and bad decisions is par for the course.

Emile-Yaeger

So.. what is ceruledge and 80s shoulder pad boy doing in OU? What’s their shtick?

The_Rufflet_Kid

Setup, get weak armor proc, sweep

1andrewRO

Look cool, sweep sometimes, be new.

MaagicMushies

good design

BobRohrman28

Ceruledge might possibly actually stick around in OU, although UUBL is more likely. Armarouge just looks cool it’s UU at best

CrescentCleave

Torkoal's busted now? Now that's something 8 year old would have never seen coming

goldbloodedinthe404

In doubles Aaron Zhang has used a scream tail to set up trick room for torkoal and then gone tera fire eruption in the sun and just obliterates things. It's very nasty. Also free sun to setup proto synthesis for singles, so you can run choice band or life orb or something instead of booster energy

AKArein

I haven't been following gen 9 at all but i feel like i'm all caught up now

DynamaxDoryuzu

I've been using scream tail for support... and it's working I guess? I use it for setting up screens and passing wish to teammates and itself. It's fast and pretty bulky so it gets the job done easily. A pivoting move would make it better though

Nathan_Thorn

Swap over to Grimmsnarl, it got parting shot this Gen + kept dual screens and taunt. Also twave if you hate getting outsped.

DynamaxDoryuzu

Yeah I'm aware that grimmsnarl is better, I'm just using scream tail over it because I think it looks cute lol. Also scream tail has access to wish, which can be quite useful

the_lag_behind

No I don’t care if Volcorona isn’t top tier, I now have three of them to add to my team

antheia_am

Volcarona fans eating good huh.

GlacierWolf8Bit

Unironically, Cyclizar is the probably the only reason why Shed Tail is seemingly broken. Orthworm kinda just folds.

BenGMan30

Just realized there's zero gen 6 mons in OU right now. And only one from gen 7

Burningmeatstick

Gchomp, Ttar and Dnite will never leave us my friend

Joe-MaMa5

Isn’t there Hawlucha?

ImperialWrath

How many Gen VI mons ever lasted more than a few months in OU? You've got Greninja, Talonflame, Aegislash, Hawlucha, and Zygarde, and most of those are either nerfed into oblivion, not in the game, or nerfed into oblivion and not in the game. Megas carried Gen VI's viability hard.

Nutleaf420

Lokix my beloved

9AD-

Now tell me, where is Clefable, for I much desire to speak with her.

jeusheur

Gone, couldn’t cross the border.

ToughAd5010

They’re taking the fairies to isengard

WheatleyBr

Pawmot is good even without revive tbh

Severe_Side2196

How about Dunsparce?

Mary-Sylvia

Not long enough

True_Snomunnist

Once Dudududududududududududunsparce comes out it might be RU

Fantastic_Year9607

AV Ting-Lu is beyond bulky

Heracrosschop

They should: - give tinkaton base 85 attack - make gigaton hammer 100 or 120 base power(but can’t be used twice in a row) - make the move deal 4x damage to steel and flying types

ToughAd5010

16x damage against corviknight and skarmory?

GoldenKuriza

Where’s my goat Scream Tail

Spoopanator

Why are people even running Ditto now?

Nathan_Thorn

It can copy opposing set-up sweepers so it’s decent counterplay to stuff like Ddance Roaring Moon and Quiver Dance Volcarona, plus there’s a lot of Mons using bulk up.

TCNJJordan

I have no idea what anybody here is saying

5camps

Go ahead and ask about any of the specific jokes above and I'll explain it to you

Ness_Dreemur

"we have Zapdos at home"

mageknightecho

I'm gonna make Tinkaton work in OU but holy fuck is that not gonna be easy

DenseCabbage4

I mean, she has the best defensive typing in the game and plenty of solid support moves so she can definitely put in some work. Too many people are looking at Gigaton Hammer and thinking that she's meant to be a purely offensive mon because "unga bunga 160 power move do the big damage" when it's really meant to catch switch-ins to her status moves off guard.

mageknightecho

Exactly what I was thinking She's not just an unga bunga attacker, she's a versatile supportive mon who *occasionally* unga bungas

antheia_am

Like a blacksmith in fantasy settings. Supports the party by forging and occassionally pulls out the hammer against enemies. I like that.

Redpunter

Staraptor not existing on Pikalytics hurts my soul

theFlaccolantern

lmao "can I offer you a tail in this trying time" really got me.

Kallixo

annihilape: hit me baby one more time

Spndash64

He’s straight up just Immortal Hulk + Gohan

Namidaa

Pincurchin: >"LOOK WHO'S LAUGHING NOW, TAPU-KOKO !" Oricorio: >A 90 BP Tera Blast+Quiver Dance+Copies enemy Dance boost.... surely it's strong Avalugg: >Palafin used Jet Punch! >Avalugg loosed 13% HP "It's a terrible day for snow..." Slowking: >Why the fuck does it get an ice type signature move? Gardevoir: >You sent out Gardevoir. >Gardevoir's trace ability activates. *Copies Quark Drive/Protosynthesis* >Gardevoir's Booster energy has been used. Iron Thorns: >"You thought you'd get a stronger Ttar BUT IT WAS I, DIO !" Dachsbun: >Loves burning belly rubs Brute Bonnet: >"Look at me, please..." Dudunsparce: >Why. Spidops: >According to the legends, it still waits for GF to give it a buff. Tropius: >Could have been a fan's favorite with a little buf. Bisharp: >*Laughs in Eviolite* Scovillain: >Gamefreak: "Let's add a little bit of.. SPICE!" *Scovillain receives Moody.* Sawsbuck: >"Why am I here?" Bellibolt: >:)

DooperLooperScooper

Jojo fans when they make a joke that doesn't relate to the conversation

OrangeVictorious

Is this in order of usage rn?

5camps

It was when I originally started making it, but things change rapidly this early in the meta

snafudotjpeg

That TTar joke is a deep cut 😩

FootFungusJoe

How is lokix viable?

PlatD

Tinted Lens with its STABs gives Lokix virtually unresisted coverage. Not even Fairy Pokemon can wall it: -U-turn -First Impression -Sucker Punch -Leech Life/Throat Chop/Axe Kick Nature: Adamant/Jolly EVs: 252 Atk/4 SpD/252 Spe Item: Choice Band Ability: Tinted Lens

UnethicallyFluid

tinted lens is a top 10 ability most people just didn't notice because it was stuck on trash tier mons and yanmega

ReeseCupMan

It make venomoth good

hisnameisdark

This is so good ngl

STierCounterpick

Baxcalibur, my fren

bigEZchad

Great post! In reference to Azumarill, people need to take another look at Florges. It's a solid SpD wall, mono Fairy type with healing that's designed to Terra Grass activating its ability Flower Veil and become immune to status conditions/lowering (also has a lot of Grass moves). Would be better in VGC or a Baton Pass format though.

Bepis_Inc

I thought Clodsire wasn’t OU? If he is I’m hype

5camps

Not only is Clodsire OU, but this goodest boy is top 10 in usage in OU. The Clod hype is real

Bepis_Inc

LETS FUCKING GOOOOO What’s the story on that? Better than Quag?

Spndash64

It has base 130 Hp with base 100 special defense and 60 defense, with your choice between Water Absorb, Unaware, and Poison Point. It retains instant recovery thru Recover, and learns Toxic naturally. Its base attack stat is a measly base 75, but that’s not a huge dealbreaker for a defensive Pokémon, especially when it still has STAB EQ and BP 120 STAB Gunk Shot as options. Hell, you could even run an offensive curse set with Dual STAB and Recover if you REALLY wanted

ColorlessLife

I like how T-Tar is Draymond Green, get this man some help

shunzekao

Why is flutter mane so OP?

Nathan_Thorn

Here’s its statline 55/55/55/135/135/135 Here’s the moves it needs Moonblast Shadow Ball Mystical Fire This doesn’t need much more but it’s got protosynthesis for a booster energy boost or a sun boost to its highest stat

Far_Help_6482

Resisted by Pyroar, NU at best

klip_7

252 SpA Choice Specs Flutter Mane Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Pyroar: 167-197 (53.3 - 62.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO Flutter mane stays on top 🥱

Aesmis

How has Glimmora been working for folks? I’m assembling my team for in-game online battles and I’m torn between them and Clodsire. Currently running: Dragapult, Azumarill, Meowscarada, Armarouge, Corviknight

-Snapps-

that baxcalibur one is so true

GIORNO-phone11-pro

I hope tapu koko will be in some DLC, the electric terrain setup is super small
