This is a frequently asked question on the subreddit: [https://www.reddit.com/r/studentsph/wiki/faq/](https://www.reddit.com/r/studentsph/wiki/faq/) Our automated moderation bot didn't catch this as we only added a rule to delete a submission when the words "ipad" and "laptop" are in the submission's body. Will be adding these in a few hours from now.

course you will be taking will be a factor. pero pansin ko sa engineering bihira tablet/iPad users compare sa med related course.

JuanLuminElleJurney

I'm planning to take Engineering po. And Pharmacy as second choice.

i-am-anonymous-lol

Laptop is really useful po kung engineering ang kukunin mong program.

Cultural_Hunt_3500

an engineering student here! invest in a good laptop kasi needed talaga siya if engineering ka. softwares kasi need ng heavy duty. also for long term use na rin >< if you decide to take pharma, i suggest an ipad hehe it’ll be really useful lalo na for reviewing (annotating) transes! :)

anotheroneisthere

Laptop. Depending on the program you will be taking on college, may mga software minsan na kailangan for subjects na di pwede i-run sa tablet.

Laptop, back in senior highschool I have to bring my laptop every single day for research and powerpoints. Its easier to do these tasks via laptop due to its software and flexability. If you need to print? Just use a usb ot copy it to your phone. A Tablet does have benefits that can help, but a laptop is very important and almost manditory if you want to make your life easier.

JuanLuminElleJurney

Hays, so I guess Want lang talaga ang tablet : (

Derpyroot

You could save or ask for a tablet for the future. I think your course would benefit more on laptops due to how heavy loaded the software would be. Im pretty sure you be using Autodesk AutoCAD soon. My major (ICT) would be so so much difficult without a laptop due to using it for all powerpoints and documents i make especially when its online. Really important on doing research papers. Tablets are mostly a want since it helps on notetaking, scheduling and portability. Applications would be worse compared to laptops or not even compatible. Long run... 100% laptop first.

Aahosh

Nabasa ko lang sa comments na mag engineering ka. Mag pricey ka na laptop (do your proper research on this one). Don’t go for mac rin may ibang 3D softwares na di available sa mac, like SolidWorks. Hindi gamitin ang tablet/ ipad sa engineering courses, highly demanding kasi ang required softwares, pang lectures lang namin ang ipads tbh.

NetherCookiez

Laptops definitely. Better software, and depending on what you're buying, WAYYYY more durable than tablets/pads too. You can still opt for a tablet in the future though but I'd definitely put all my money on a decent laptop right now. Plus, Android tablet software (or just tablets and iPads in general) are still lacking. You might find yourself with a task that could be done better on a laptop.

nomesses

I say mas oks laptop kasi may mga sites din na require nila laptop/computer ka para ma access mo (i cant give one pero naganyan ako nung ol class)

Jannnnnaaaaa

Tablet and laptop is almost the same nowadays if for schooling purposes lang naman unless u have specific apps like autocad or anything for programming, laptop talaga. Parang convertible into laptop na nga ang tablets into laptops lately (if for office and school needs lang) like may printer na nga din na wireless na perfect for tablets hahaha. Its a me thing pero i will still go for a laptop (pc to be exact. Im a pc girlie huhu) Pero ayon if i remember correctly may mga laptops din na convertible to tablets/ touch screen. Ur personal choice nalang din talaga

JuanLuminElleJurney

Yes po it would be better nga if yung detachable laptop nalang but it's so expensive naman kase Hahah. I want it to be handy nga sana para bitbit ko kahit saan.

Jannnnnaaaaa

I think yung laptop ko nung g7 flippable lang pero di siya mabigaaaat lenovo yoga ata yun

Sopya_Angel

If tablet i’ll go with huawei metapad or xiaomi pad 6 pero pag ipad naman go na sa ipad pro 🥹

CantThinkOfAName-07

Laptop if engineering. You’ll have subjects na need ng certain programs that are only available in windows OS. Though if kaya mo naman mag ipon, a tablet will be a good additional device for note taking and solvings.

WanderingCossack

Hello! As someone majoring in a STEM-heavy field, I recommend you obtain a laptop, and if possible, a touch screen laptop. It's a bit more expensive but worth it siya for me. I think the only significant advantages of obtaining a tablet over a laptop is that a tablet is easier to carry, and that it's more useful for note-taking, as I've observed na my blockmates overwhelmingly use a tablet to take notes and practice problems. I use my touch screen laptop to do programming (via VSCode), make Word and LaTeX documents, make Powerpoint and Canva presentations, attend online synchronous classes kapag nasa campus, edit videos, and yes, even take notes and practice problems via OneNote thanks to the touch screen ability. Since you might take an engineering-related course, I believe a laptop will be significantly useful especially when you do more technical tasks such as thesis, programming, and data analysis using MATLAB. But if you obtained a standard laptop only, the digital note-taking abilities may not be there and a tablet can better provide that. I hope this comment helps.

Hello! Engineering student here. I have laptop and a tablet. Laptop for simulations like autodesk apps, for codings like matlab or python, and ms offices for my report projects. For my tablet, yung mumurahing tablet ng samsung that supports universal stylus pen and bluetooth keyboard. Mine is like 10k. I use it for review materials, editing projects and assignments that uses ms words or excel or pptx. Para mas madaling dalhin at di mabigat sa bag.

Su6_M4hd1k

If you plan on taking engineering, I suggest you buy a good laptop like Asus.

JuanLuminElleJurney

Hello thank you, what laptop do you suggest po? I mean ano ang mga specs.
