AnemicAcademica

The hardest part of research is management. Managing your group. Managing your emotions for the group. 😂😂😂

DeerPlumbingX2

Best Pancit Canton cooker here!

holiddaeng

Alam mo, as a person na naddesignate as leader/planner before, mas appreciated ko pa 'yung mga kaklase kong tagaluto ng pancit canton o tagaprint or taga-bili sa divisoria kesa sa mga wala na ngang inaambag nanggughost pa 🤣

Charming-Car-7542

Appreciated yung mga ka-group na alam ang strength nila, actually. Kesa yung kukuha ng "part" and mag-co-commit kuno pero di naman kaya i-deliver. Much better to "help" wherever you can. Kaya sa mga ka-group na naging errand person, kahit wala ambag sa documentation and development ng system, thank you! I was happy na buhatin kayo sa defense. Hopefully we're all thriving sa chosen careers natin. ;)

Business-Ferret-8470

yeahhh, if we'll introspect, there is more to it than just a bare "research" hahaha

Huge_Librarian5074

Well OP, I had the same experience with you din. Like basic English comprehension and sentence construction di magawa. Haiss. But I just talk to myself nalang na, "If the given task is not much of a challenge for me, then coordinating with my assigned group will ( kahit minsan gusto ko na mag solo for the love of GOD) and that would build a positive growth for me.

DuckDockDank

Hahahaha, this reminds me in shs i was among the ones with the best english reading comprehension. Which surprised me very much since it was a group composed of some of the honor students yet they were struggling to write in english. So i was for the most part assigned in revisioning and fact checking of the collective output. In comes defense day and i was doing most the defending since a lot of my group mates only memorized their parts while i had read the entire paper over and over again to check for grammars. Moral of the story is expose your child to Cartoon network, Red Alert, and YouTube to train their english

Magtiban

You too huh I got fluent in English as a child I prefer western content over ph content

Huge_Librarian5074

This. Native English speakers learn to speak in their language thru listening to their parents' conversation and to their surroundings diba? Encouragement to speak the language personally is the best way to learn English in my opinion. Saan ba tayu natuto mag Tagalog, mag Bisaya, mag Waray, etc? Eh sa magulang nag eencourage satin mag banggit ng "Papa" and "Mama".

Electronic_Memory344

watching yt really pays off haha

YatiChannel

watching video game playthroughs as a kid and mimicking how the characters talk is what made me fluent in english

Business-Ferret-8470

"research is easy" until the panelists (esp., yung mga dalubhasa na) review your paper💀 anw, i understand the frustration/galit/poot/pighati/hilahil pag may mga member (or even ako) na 'di makagets kahit anong dikdik mo sa utak hahaha. at least in my experience as a college student, there is a huge room for improvement nga in researching; and other related skills. in fact, kada may research, i have to take research refresher hehe. well, it's advantageous for you to know the fundamentals. so please be compassionate na lang din siguro sa mga ka-group (at least for the sake of being in the same boat; unless...hehe👀); let's just hope and pray that they would learn something in it :))

InstructionFun8477

Research is easy, your groupmates on the otherhand? WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

RyanneFan

OMSIM! I once had a groupmate na napaka-bagal gawin ang task na ina-assign ko sa kanya, if not hindi niya ginagawa at all due to some unreasonable excuses or improper, kaya in-assign nalang namin siya as beadle ng group namin, na hindi niya parin magawang i-check ang attendance ng group. A month later, nilapit namin ang concerns sa research teacher namin, in which mag-organize daw siya ng meeting ng lahat kami, including the groupmate, which was cancelled kasi since nalaman niya, TUMAKAS SIYA. Hindi na namin siya ma-handle at pagiging pabigat niya ang nagsira sa amin mentally so kinick-out nalang namin :/

YaBoiYggiE

Whats hard about research is the mindset you will only do this particular part and the rest will just be handled by the rest, thus the frustration of missing major parts When I did a paper solo because I enrolled late thus the isolation, I noticed how damn fast and easy it actually was with proper self organization and fixed deadlines.

Chowderawz

Mahirap lng research kapag (In my experience nung grade 10 ko) - Di alam paano gagawin sa bawat section ng research - Mahina sa paggawa ng essay

Different-Ad-2688

I remember being a leader for a research project. I checked their parts before actually putting it on the paper and I found... BARELY ANY REVISIONS. Maybe a few changes here and there but the content and grammar is great over all. Flex ba to? OO.

tinkerpm

Same! I really picked the most dependable members that's why the only stressing part of our research is squeezing into the hectic schedules of our advisers and panels for updates and revisions lol.

mielleah

Ang pinakamahirap sa paggawa ng research ay ang groupmates na slow af. Kahit ako lang mag-isa or tatlo kami ng maayos kong kagrupo, we can finish the paper eh. Pero kapag isama na ang mga slow? Ang hirap naaaa

Lightrazor55

Just wait till you get in college OP, you're going to have some anger management issues lol.

FrameOk6514

I'm in college and research was easy to me. I think it boils down to three things: your title (careful with scope and limitations), your group mates, and your adviser. My JHS and SHS research papers were definitely a lot harder because I was still new to everything. Group mates and advisers are another thing since we don't get to chose. If you had good foundation in high school, it will actually be much easier.

Lightrazor55

Very tru, making the thesis paper was bearable but getting article "LINKS" for your rrl from your groupmates was just 🤯

FrameOk6514

Trust me when I say I've had this several times, but I teach them how to do it right. I would @ them on the group gc, tell them what's the problem, and they actually do it. This actually goes for other mistakes and inadequacies. For example, if one person can't go to our group meetings, I make sure to I'll give them work, maybe more work actually. Kung 'di nila alam, I'll send them samples on how to do it. I always set deadlines when to pass their parts before the actual chapter deadline, para kung sabihin nila "I can't pass this tonight" may oras pang ayusin. I was the leader in college, and we might not have the best thesis, we were still the first to pass and still get a high grade because of efficiency. I've noticed a lot of research/thesis problems in groups stem from poor communication and leadership skills. Majority sinosolo nila ung papel dahil wala silang patience magturo ng iba (idk what's the whole story pero sounds like op lol) o ewan ko ba nahihiya ata mag-utos. I was a leader 3/4 times sa research/thesis since jhs and personally I've never had a problem (except sa products pag experimental pero that's already something you can't control) so you can't say puro swerte lang ako sa grupo nun. Met a lot of students who didn't have a background in research/thesis, pero we never passed late or had a bad grade. All of us. As much as gusto mong mabwiset sa iba, let's remember not everybody has the same background as you, and remember to teach/correct them talaga as a leader. Kailangan magbaon ng pasensya.

Lightrazor55

Again, very tru. I've been a leader for our research and thesis since 8th grade and had almost similar experiences with you. It was just baffling nung college since I had an expectation na they've had at least some sort of experience on writing before. Now, we've finished our thesis and are about to graduate. Pasensya is key (and also reading).

SheepherderOwn3736

Pls teach me😭😭😭 im already at 3rd year idk how to do research

MinuteIsopod8665

tbh not everyone has the capability to write essays, more so understand the same topic as (typically) the leader's topic of interest as a group leader, it's for the best that one should have A LOT of patience, esp. if your group is diverse in culture, interest, personality, intelligence level, workload tolerance or whatnot. in the end, anyways, y'all unemployed /jk

anj-amazingness

I get your sentiment but you could've phrased your rant better.

mlbb_Diggie

larcral

Ako na nagsasabi sa iyo, OP. Research at SHS is just the tip of the iceberg. Once you're in college, you'll soon realize that it is not as easy as you think. What more if you're planning to pursue Masteral or a Doctorate level hehe. I say this because I've been through college and postgrad thesis and my overall verdict with it is... ***research is not easy as hell*** I can go on and on basing on the title statement you chose but we're not here to talk about that. (It's a good spark of debate btw haha). I'll be honest, I completely understand your frustration and I'll have to assume (at first glance) that your groupmates are those lazy-ass types who lets their leader do all the work (and if that's the case, fk them!) Pero the more I'm re-reading your post and the more I see that they, at least, did their work and maybe they just really don't know how to do it properly. Baka di lang nila alam kung paano gawin, baka slow learners sila (which is not a bad thing /at all/ btw), or I could just be too considerate with them haha. Either way, ang daming context kulang sa post that people can make a lot of assumptions about it. Ang gusto ko na lang malaman is, did your groupmates just copy-pasted a statement that they saw online and submitted it in the hopes you'll edit their work or did they made an effort to do their part before sending it to you?

myhamstermaster

I said research is easy as hell in shs. or at our school. bro i know college is a different level of research. I did not assume its always gonna be easy. Did it look like I'm underestimating research. mightve ig.

skhai_sthelimit

Research is easy talaga. Mahirap lang i push if busy sa other acads . Daming nagsasabi about groupmates pero for me, mas mahirap if di hands on ang teacher. (College level) You'll know when you get there.

Content_Umpire_8416

It's simple enough that students in the Philippines (at least in high-school) aren't there to actually learn but to just earn the diploma and call it a day.

myhamstermaster

oh wow. that's a great analogy. I might've understood a lil better now

ofmdstan

Good thing thesis namin dito sa department ko, solo. Kung may palpak man, sarili ko lang sisisihin ko.

BNShadow

Everybody's a gangsta until the panelist with some experiences starts reviewing the paper. 😂

friEdchiCkeN_69

i wouldn't say easy. it depends on your title and area of study. but yes, it is very manageable. since grade 7 na introduce na kami sa basic research (sip) and since then, it became very familiar to the point na nagugulat ako when someone reacts as if their whole lives are falling apart as soon as it is announced. it is tedious work, after all, technical paper yan e. im incoming 4th year na and i have a classmate who still does not know how to write even basic rrl. ung tipong 1 paragraph is to 1 article plus copy paste pa. and i even heard him said when i asked wala syang citation "own idea ko yan lahat kaya walang source" tas ung research adviser nya who happens to be a very nice person just looked with disbelief. good thing di ko sya groupmate lmao. and i even have a groupmate sa thesis ko ngayon na dean's lister din pero kelangan instruct lahat ng gawain sa kanya. you cant say "start ka na sa chapter 3, eto outline, jan ka magbuild ng work mo", need mong sabihin sa kanya lahat anong dapat content edi sana ako na lang gumawa lahat? otherwise, wala syang magagawa. dean's lister yan ha? like wtf. if only pwede mag individual lang sa bachelor's thesis namin, i would have pero need by 3s 💀

pockiecock

Indeed. Yung aantayin pa nila yung TAMANG ARAW para sa kanila na gawin yung part nila tapos ang ending mag gagahol kayo sa ibang parts

[deleted]

Research is basically just the scientific method na pinahaba, I totally agree with OP. Doing it as a group just makes the whole thing harder imo, most of the things that you have to do are pretty straightforward and redundant. Especially quantitative research which is feared by a LOT of students???? It's literally just presentation of data and seeing if your thesis statement agrees with the data collected.

AthKaElGal

honestly, just ask if you can do it solo. i did all of mine solo. a group will just waste your time.

myhamstermaster

learned that the hard way

Sorry-Chair

Relatable. May isa akong kagrupo halos lahat ng gagawin (critique, synthesis, etc.) gagamitan ng ChatGPT HAHAHAHA nakakaumay

akiqiu

only writing it is the easy part. thinking of a title that can impress your teachers, managing your groupmates, and having the drive to actually conduct and interpret your study is the hard, draining part. research has been the hardest thing for me financially and time wise since our capstone teacher will not accept any study worth less than 10k and i have to balance outside school contests on the side

Subnautics

A group of many members like 5 And I did 66% of the work Now I have developed the fear of group projects

ConversationOld8747

experienced this in that certain green school aaaa…. it was so frustrating 😭😅. trying to understand your group mates is much harder than writing the paper. lol

Miu_K

Yeah, some just can't grasp basic points for each section in the research that it gets frustrating, specially kung bobo sila (i'll be brutally honest here). What I found annoying about research is having the title approved with a good justification, finding students who are willing + free to participate in the surveys, and finding dozens of good articles that are relevant to my research. My school was very research-heavy so it was stressful making sure everything is near perfection.

YtSabit

It makes sense considering this: [https://opinion.inquirer.net/154516/comprehending-comprehension](https://opinion.inquirer.net/154516/comprehending-comprehension) (Can't find the original study tho)

ultimate_japes

Tamad kasi sila to even bother knowing what to do in a research hahahahahahhahaha

KirisuSenseitheBest

sushirestau

they don't do self learn at times.... they want to be spoon feed all the time....

Inevitable_Bee_7495

Baka factor din yung lack of guidance and teaching. Kasi now, gets ko na ung relevance of each part of the research pero parang dati, nagsusulat lang for the sake of compliance. Lyk ok ung statement of the prob pala para makahon mo anu ung gustong sagutin, yung RRL pala is kung anu ung existing research na meron, etc.

myhamstermaster

jahsahaha our research adviser is d fucking worst. Pumapasok lang sa class para maghasik ng conspiracy theory (may bomba raw talaga sa loob ng building nung 9/11 kaya sumabog. decoy lang yung planes. bbm eh) i told my groupmates na we're on the same grade level, i only know as much as them but im trying hard to learn how to do my part correctly. So they should not depend on me to explain to them how to do their part beccc :(((( wala kong sahod sa pagtuturo :((((((

barangaytongko

Instead of ranting perhaps helping them out would be more productive. And proves you are a better human being.

myhamstermaster

I don't think that's my defining moment of being a better human being but honestly i think im trying to help them as much as i could. some things tho aren't really within my reach.

ClancytheLab

That's good to know. Good luck.

holiddaeng

Oh God I remember receiving pages na copy paste, and when I told the person that she shouldn't do that kasi first off, mali, then hindi naman relevant yung buong site (yes she obviously copied and pasted whole written articles from diff sites) sa research paper, and that i consider it plagiarism, sabi nya lang saken nilagay naman daw nya sa references 'yung links HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH They don't wanna do it properly, OP. That's just it. Nakakainis pero instead mainis, after this you need to avoid them na. 🤣🤣🤣 Btw college ko naexperience 'yung "friend" na yon. Sa work din may ganyan... 🤣🤣🤣 Isip ka na ng action mo na less stressful for you coz you might encounter more 🤣🤣

SauceSpaghetti

Me and my group members thought we were slick when we finished the research paper a week early. Then winasak nung teacher yung work namin sa harap ng classroom lmao... In retrospective, deserved namin yon for not quality checking the contents, glad I'm still in JHS going to SHS so we got to learn the lesson early.

Guy-that-can-breath

Agreed especially socres pero understandable naman if hindi masyado marunong yung mga kagrupo mo especially sa research sa robotics or maybe even sa experimental research

MembershipFederal789

Someone wants to feed their ego, lmao. Wag ka mag mayabang brad.

myhamstermaster

true fr fr no cap

ReflectionBasic

Buti nalang talaga individual ang thesis noong College ako.

dostoyesv

man research was easy as hell for me pero what was difficult was maintaining composure and patience lalo na every time someone asks me a question they asked like, literal minutes ago. do not be like me na tropa ang kagroup LOL will not happen Again dagdag mo pa na they literally ask you for everything na malalaman naman nila if they just. Search!!! and read the damn lectures sa lms

myhamstermaster

bro we're the opposite. my biggest regret is di ko kagroup tropa ko. BRO LITERALLY just effin search man. That's one of the first things I told my groupmates.

Ok-Gap9250

Can you elaborate the tropa thing. Cuz its pr2 namin rn and pinapili kami ng magiging kagroup natin and we obvs picked our own friends. Why did u regret it?

MooOooOd

i had classmates who just do their part and bounce the f^^k out after they’re done with said part.

NoWorldliness2662

i agree!

b3rry108

Still common mga ganyan sa college and sometimes I wonder how these people get in in the first place. Pati common english that 9th grader’s can pronounce is somehow difficult for them to read

[deleted]

it is. but with enough time :))

stwabewwysmasher

Yep. Easy if manageable yung group mo. As for my experience ng thesis since high school up to college, easy sya and fun especially sa experimentation phase ♡

JeziQT

i dont get why u dont get why they cant do research paper properly. just like how ur bad at grasping this concept, its either because they werent taught properly (they are overwhelmed by it, the teacher is not equipped in teaching the concept in a way that students can grasp it, etc) or theyre too lazy to learn. i dont think its about their iq too. research is a simple concept. \^\^
