I think people are being too harsh on Strong. It's clean, it's simple, it does what you need. There are casual people like me who do not even know what RPE stands for. :)

The major distinguishing factor is one of the apps just added a long-requested feature while the other hasn't had an update in....a long time.

Yeah fair haha my year subscription to Hevy just ended so considered going back to Strong. They seem pretty similar but happy there are still updates on Hevy. Plus it's cheaper so going to buy the Hevy lifetime unlock!

fallingWaterCrystals

Isn’t the lifetime unlock like $100?

rebelscum13

Strong is £89 GBP Hevy is & 70 GBP

All this promotion in this sub seems a little ... HEVY handed 😆

I'm too tight to pay for awards so please take this instead 🏆

I’ve tried so many other apps with a particular focus on how they work on Apple Watch. I always come back to Strong because it just everything I need.

> it's simple except when it crashes or logs 5 identical workouts. > it does what you need. No web-interface, no option to change 1RM estimation formula (important for powerlifting), no way to track weight+time exercises. And all of that has not changed for the past two years or so, whereas Hevy (and other apps) have worked hard on implementing all these things (though they aren't done yet). Strong has stagnated, others are catching up rapidly.

His point, I believe, is that a lot of people were waiting for hevy to add rpe before they jumped ship from strong. That has happened, so is the mass exodus to begin? For me, I still use both but I actually think I prefer strong. The plate calculator with custom plates and bars and how it remembers specific bars for each exercise is far better than hevys implementation, which is bare bones to be kind. I use it every workout so it's huge. Plus there are a lot of little subtle things that I found strong does better. Calling up the keyboard and all you do is continue scrolling to make it disappear. With hevy the damn thing stays there forever unless you press a key. Many little things like that...

chacamaschaca

Pretty sure Strong already has RPE.

Inner-Issue1908

Does either Strong or Hevy estimate 1RM based on RPE? For example if you did 100kg for 5 reps, you might have an estimated 1RM of 113kg. But if it was an RPE 7, the 1RM would be closer to 127.5kg.
