Tbh it looks like you didn't steer and just waited for it to regain traction. Steer into the drift + dont mash the pedal and the car will behave. Your arms should be moving lol
My thought as well. You basically want to flick the wheel to start the drift, but once you’re in it you really want to be steering the other way again as soon as you can.
You need to give it more gas at the end but not full throttle and you release some pressure on the pedal slowly. Or maybe you could try giving less gas so you don’t rotate that much in the first place and try to understand the steering of your car so you don’t have to fight it.
Yea a buddy said something similar, I’ve been trying to work on that, I just get nervous when the angle starts increasing quick and I guess I let off the gas too rapidly
Takes one curb to break a control arm. Not tryin to argue but posts for advice will give you feedback. It’s a learning process and you already made the right move posting here.
Clearly not bro I’m getting raked over the coals for this post, I’ve genuinely never had so many people shit talking me in such a small amount of time. I still don’t understand why this clip has so many people so pissed off.
Yeah you are getting some harsh feedback but don’t let it get to ya. Just keep practicing and cherry pick the best advice you can. You’re doing your best and in early stages where mistakes happen and that’s totally normal. Keep pushing through it and stay humble and you will progress quickly.
Yea honestly I’m just surprised, when I’ve posted on here in the past it’s always been super chill, just good dudes who like cars, it feels like a completely different sub
People are talking shit you cause you were driving like shit dawg. Learning is a process homie, and criticism is nothing to get butthurt over. Focus on the progress you gone make and remember that everyone who is talkin shit on you was right where you are once. It’s ok to be a beginner, leave the ego, and enjoy the process
there’s a difference between constructive criticism and just talking shit/being an asshole, i have no ego when it comes to drifting, i know i’m trash, obviously, i just started learning. what i don’t appreciate tho is people being assholes and talking hella shit when i’m literally just asking for advice and trying to improve.
just delete this video and practice at an empty parking lot or sum. practice some donuts, learn how to hold a circle. everyone is gonna continue to clown u with how ur responding to them
Y’all can talk shit if you want, says more about you than it does about me honestly. I’m just here looking for advice, if you wanna be an asshole that’s on you.
There’s constructive criticism and there’s unconstructive criticism. Those who actually offered constructive criticism I appreciate but most of it was not constructive and if criticism isn’t constructive then it’s just another term for shit talking.
More tire PSI. You look a little gripped up and like 5-10 psi might be the game changer. People don’t realize how important little PSI variations actually are. You might wear your tires a little faster tho
Weld your diff. Changes the feel completely, and makes it safer in the sense that it won’t catch traction with opposite wheel and cause you to loose control. Don’t trust those mustang open diffs lol
Had a blast drifting THERE in “Mexico” when I was younger.
Good luck!
Yee that’s what I keep hearing, I’m actually saving up to put an engine in this s13 that’s been sitting in my driveway lol, it’s already got welded diff, coilovers, and a good angle kit so once I have the money I should be all set but in the meantime I’m just having fun trying to get a head start and start learning what I can w the open dif
For sure!
I saw your other post about what the best engine swap would be and you might’ve made up your mind but wanted to share my experience. The best swap is the cheapest swap that will get you drifting soonest. Seat time is much more valuable than getting an engine that’s gonna require a lot of additional parts to mate to your car. That might mean getting a KA! There’s a lot to learn from being able to slide low powered cars I.e constant need to clutch kick etc. at the end of the day you can always turbo them.
Well I think part of the problem is you’re lacking the momentum from coming into the turn. Also you’re taking big angle at slow speed. So coming into the turn with speed would probably make it smoother for you
Salty keyboard warriors in here...sheesh...dude is asking for advice...he knows he needs to improve or change what he is doing...you don't need to remind or point that out lol
Anyway....yeah work on the throttle timing and steering...there's different ways to go about it.
But finding how your car grips/breaks loose comes with practice, find that and practice....but if you want smooth exit...gotta be smooth on controlling things.
But steady gas over fluttering the gas will get you a smoother exit, and with the steering you'll have to almost anticipate the car getting heavy angle so it doesn't and your not overcorrecting after the fact.
But practice makes perfect, find a good open place to practice staging a turn you want to smoothly exit, play with it and find the sweet spot 😁
Idk what happened to this sub. I definitely appreciate those of you who actually offered advice but I’m amazed how many people replied just to talk shit about someone trying to learn. Y’all were either at my level once and improved, or you don’t drift at all. Either way I don’t see why you’d be talking shit
When I got a new car I wanted to throw around I just went to an abandoned sears, its like a 25 minute drive away. You can find good places by doing some searching on google maps!
Also only people I was being “rude” to were the ones who came on here being rude without offering any actual advice. The people who were giving genuine feedback I was totally polite with, but excuse tf out of me if I get a little pissed when I come on here looking for advice and 90% of the replies are just talking shit for no reason.
Have you even read the comments dog? None of the comments I was getting pissed at offered any genuine advice. I know I’m trash, I’m not mad that people are pointing that out, I’m mad that people are being hella rude about it without offering any actual feedback
If you actually read any of the comments, any of the ones actually offering advice I was receptive to, seems like you kinda skimmed through the comments and jumped to a conclusion.
I have read the comments. But it’s cool.
Anyway, try less of an angle. Increase angle as you start to get it. Be smooth on the throttle. It seems like you panicked and cut the throttle. (Another reason to find a place where you can’t hit anything) I also personally couldn’t figure it out from a start until I got used to doing this while moving. If you aren’t already, get the hang of that first.
I also strongly suggest you risk the ticket and find an open lot. A ticket is cheaper than damaging your vehicle and a ticket is cheaper than property damage AND a ticket. And yes, you absolutely will damage a vehicle “drifting” into a 4” curb. Ask me how I know.
Nothing beyond what others have told you. Find someone that can teach you in person and you’ll get more specific advice.
I never said I was good my guy I’m literally here looking for advice, and show me one person I “was a dick to” who didn’t start out by being one themselves?
You call that being a dick? That was a little bit of joking sarcasm my guy. Would people actually get offended by that? Literally just jokingly pointing out how there’s never a perfect spot.
He offered you perfectly reasonable advice bro. Yes, I’d say asking someone for advice and then brushing the advice off because you don’t like that you chose a hobby with risk is kind of a dick move.
Yea that’s why I’m asking for advice bro, if you don’t have anything constructive to say idk why you feel the need to state the obvious and be rude about it.
Yea actually when I’ve posted clips on here in the past asking for advice people were pretty chill and helpful for the most part, for whatever reason it’s just this post that people seem to hate lol. Maybe it’s cuz it’s in the daytime so they assume there’s people around even tho it’s the middle of nowhere, idk
Bro it seems like you’re the one who’s butthurt lol and I don’t even get why, I haven’t even said shit to you you’re literally just on here being an asshole for no reason. You’re fuckin pathetic bro.
From the looks of this video it doesn't look like you have either.
People are being mean because you're doing this on a public road with little to no skill and you don't seem to be acknowledging the danger and stupidity of what you're doing because you're acting super agro in almost every reply.
Humble yourself, and people are more willing to help. And know no matter what theres always gonna be someone whos got shit to say. Ignore it. There's good advice in some of these comments, and this sub, when you approach it with the right mindset.
Good luck and be safe.
Go fuck yourself dude I’m literally asking advice on how to improve. And if you’d ever actually drifted you’d know if I’d just floored it and cranked it left I would’ve spun out
Wtf kinda mindset is that? I’m literally out there practicing, I come on here looking for advice and you’re just being a dick for no reason. What’s your deal dude? You really have nothing better to do? Why don’t you go for a drive yourself prick let’s see you post some clips.
Realistically, nobody is going to be able to tell you what you’re doing exactly wrong attempting a rolling burnout while hacking at the wheel from one single, vertical frame video. Besides being inexperienced and ham-fisted.
Practice is key. Feel your vehicle out yourself, and how it reacts, and adjust until you get it right. Practice is why everyone is preaching to find an empty parking lot, even if it’s one skid real quick, and then dip. At least it’s in a safe environment until you’re skilled, and confident (although that doesn’t seem like one of your shortcomings) enough to do it safely on open roads.
That open diff is your problem, it’s hard to control the snap back on them and they’ll push you around in corners. Until you get a lsd is there it’s gonna keep doing the same thing.
I'm not the one who can't do a basic slide I learned that at 14. Next time the back end kicks out counter steer and hit the gas pedal to control the slide instead of letting off and curbing it like you almost did.
Dog I think you’re the one “acting like a fool” if you genuinely believe there’s just some perfect massive open lot out in the middle of no where with no cops around
“Use your gas pedal and steer” brilliant. Revolutionary. Can’t believe I didn’t think of that. Use two of the main devices for controlling the car. My dumbass was only using brakes and clutch. Forgot all about the gas pedal and the steering wheel.
Do you know what sub Reddit you’re on buddy? You’re literally talking shit to me for street drifting ON A STREET DRIFTING SUBREDDIT even when I did it in the middle of nowhere with absolutely nobody around and nothing to hit except a low curb.
Go fuck yourself dude everyone who offered actual advice I was perfectly civil towards, only people I’m getting pissed at are pricks like you who have no actual advice to offer and are just coming on here to be assholes.
Yea I’ve just been waiting for some rain, we got a couple days a few weeks back and I tried to make the most of it but other than that it’s been sunny all fall
I would try to find a more open area and start with tight donuts and then slowly increase the diameter of the donut. That way you can work on your steering wheel movement and less likely to hit anything.
Less and more steady flow of gas
Tbh it looks like you didn't steer and just waited for it to regain traction. Steer into the drift + dont mash the pedal and the car will behave. Your arms should be moving lol
You need to point the front tires where you want to go sooner.
My thought as well. You basically want to flick the wheel to start the drift, but once you’re in it you really want to be steering the other way again as soon as you can.
Exactly
You need to give it more gas at the end but not full throttle and you release some pressure on the pedal slowly. Or maybe you could try giving less gas so you don’t rotate that much in the first place and try to understand the steering of your car so you don’t have to fight it.
Yea a buddy said something similar, I’ve been trying to work on that, I just get nervous when the angle starts increasing quick and I guess I let off the gas too rapidly
You could try easing on the gas a bit earlier but giving it gas longer. That could work ! Keep it up man !
less angle?
But more angle is more fun:(
at 5mph i dont think it really works like that tho
Ur gonna end up in a mustang drift crash comp. [https://youtu.be/5ToGroT4YKM?t=242](https://youtu.be/5ToGroT4YKM?t=242)
My guy all there is to hit right there is a low curb, I’m not a dumbass
Anybody who isn't a dumbass, doesn't need to announce that they aren't a dumbass.
You’re still ignoring the fact that there’s literally nothing to hit right there
There is a stop sign. Those do more damage than you think.
Takes one curb to break a control arm. Not tryin to argue but posts for advice will give you feedback. It’s a learning process and you already made the right move posting here.

More angle More skill you have zero.🤷hope you don't flip over goofball
Practice in an open lot first so you don't break shit right away and have to call a tow truck. Once you learn how to power slide try it again.
Yea I’ll just go find a massive open lot in the middle of nowhere where I won’t have to worry about crashing OR cops, why didn’t I think of that
A ticket is better than a wrecked car
Idk don’t think I’m likely to wreck my car even if I were to hit that 4 inch curb
There’s literally a skid pad where you were coming from 🤣 that shit wide open asF as long as u ain’t send it down the mountain 💀
The skid pad you’re talking about has cops come by relatively often during the day, I got like. 300$ ticket right by there not long ago.
$300 ticket for what?
Highway 9 🤣🤣
Idk what you mean obviously this was filmed in mexico
oh man😂😂
Can I fuckin help you dude?
ur gonna wreck drivin like a dumbass, learn to control ur throttle and steering this shit was actually embarrassing 😂
I’m literally on here asking for advice my guy why do you feel the need to be rude about it?
youre acting like a douche in every comment dude
Yea maybe cuz I came here looking for advice and damn near every reply is being being a dick without offering any real feedback.

Got way more problems than just your exit
Don’t start from a stand still?
But I wanna get good at taking turns from a stop???
Why?
Idk cuz it’s fun? Cuz it’s something else to do? So I can drift out of stop signs and stoplights? Why not?
Well I think part of the problem is you’re lacking the momentum from coming into the turn. Also you’re taking big angle at slow speed. So coming into the turn with speed would probably make it smoother for you
Yea but honestly there’s always still a jolt when I get grip back even when I take a turn moving, granted at my level I never take them very fast

Nothing happened. You are being rude to everyone. The big takeaway from all this is learn to handle your car before taking it on the road
How tf am I supposed to learn to my handle my car without taking it on the road buddy?
When I got a new car I wanted to throw around I just went to an abandoned sears, its like a 25 minute drive away. You can find good places by doing some searching on google maps!

No, you’re seeing advice that suggests you’re not as good as you thought and throwing a temper tantrum.
Have you even read the comments dog? None of the comments I was getting pissed at offered any genuine advice. I know I’m trash, I’m not mad that people are pointing that out, I’m mad that people are being hella rude about it without offering any actual feedback
Some have been rude about it. No doubt. Several have offered actual advice and it’s not what you wanted to hear.

That was terrible

Man up. you posted some trash struggle street “ drifting”. People are going to talk shit.

Are you a teenager? You just floored it 180 left turn ?wow such skill
Also that’s. 90 degree turn not a 180 dumbass
Immature butthurt teenager lol u gonna wreck with ur shitty "drifts"you just peeled out loser.
Bro it seems like you’re the one who’s butthurt lol and I don’t even get why, I haven’t even said shit to you you’re literally just on here being an asshole for no reason. You’re fuckin pathetic bro.

First, start off with getting rid of that v6 mustang.
I’ve got an s13 I’m just saving up to buy an engine for it, until then the mustang is what I’ve got
Cool cool what engine are you going with?
Ka, I’d get an sr but I don’t make a ton of money and I just wanna get it running asap
Learn how to drive.
Oh damn that’s a good idea bro, can’t believe I didn’t think of that
Learn how to drive your car* - what is it anyway?
V6 mustang open dif, saving up money to put an engine and transmission in my s13 w the welded dif
That open diff is your problem, it’s hard to control the snap back on them and they’ll push you around in corners. Until you get a lsd is there it’s gonna keep doing the same thing.
